They feature 18-gauge stainless steel plates to help protect the bottom edge and extend the life of the mud flaps. With their 3/8" thick, recycled rubber construction, Textured Rubber Mud Guards easily deflect everything from mud to gravel, protecting the body of your truck from scratches, chips and scuffs. They are also made to add a stylish accent to your truck, featuring stainless steel plates along the bottom edge of each flap. The plates are made from 18-gauge stainless steel to provide a heavy-duty, rust-resistant shield, and they feature a bright, high-polish finish for a long-lasting shine. The textured finish of the rubber mud flaps is also designed to easily hide minor scuffs and scratches and maintain a clean appearance. For an easy installation and a custom fit, these truck mud flaps are made vehicle-specific. This particular set fits specific years of the Ram 1500, 2500, 3500 and Dodge Ram 1500 (see application info to verify fitment). No. The factory wheel well liner retainer screws must be removed and are not reused. Remove the two factory screws from the metallic flange of the wheel well before proceeding with mudguard installation.
Yes. You must drill a 5/16" diameter hole through the urethane wheel well liner using the hole on the top of the Zee clip as a pilot. This hole is fastened with a 5/16-18 X 0.75" button head screw and 5/16-18 serrated flange nut.
After finger-tightening the upper Zee clip fasteners and the two lower U-clip fasteners, move the mudguard in or out as desired. Level the mudguard so it is in line with the front tire and matches the rear mudguard. Once properly positioned and leveled, tighten all fasteners.
1. Attach the metal Zee clip to the upper inboard hole using #10-24 X 3/4" truss head screws, 1/4" flat washers, and 10-24 serrated flange nuts (finger tighten only). 2. Remove the two factory wheel well liner retainer screws. 3. Insert two #8 metal U-clips into the metallic wheel well flange over the existing holes. 4. Position the rubber spacer between the mudguard and wheel well flange, then install two 8-15 X 1-3/4" screws and #8 flat washers through the second and fourth holes from the top (finger tighten). 5. Position and level the mudguard, then tighten all fasteners. 6. Drill a 5/16" hole through the urethane wheel well liner using the Zee clip hole as a pilot, then fasten with 5/16-18 X 0.75" button head screws and 5/16-18 serrated flange nuts. 7. Repeat for the opposite side.
The 8-15 X 1-3/4" screws (item #8) are extra long to accommodate vehicles with fender flares, which require additional length to reach through the flare material and into the U-clips.
Leave fasteners finger-tight during initial assembly and positioning. The #10-24 truss head screws at the upper Zee clip and the 8-15 X 1-3/4" screws at the U-clips should remain finger-tight until the mudguard is positioned and leveled. Once the mudguard is properly aligned with the front tire and matches the rear mudguard, tighten all fasteners.
The two 8-15 X 1-3/4" screws and #8 flat washers are installed through the second and fourth holes down from the top in the mudguard and into the metal U-clips.
