LUVERNE Grip Step 7" running boards for vans are the ideal work van accessories, adding safe, dependable footing to your cargo van with a vehicle-specific fit. Grip Step van steps are equipped with high-traction treads for fleet-approved safety, and they are made from powder-coated aluminum to be lightweight and provide long-lasting resistance to the elements. All Grip Step running boards are engineered for vehicle-specific installation. These van steps offer a custom fit for certain years and styles of the Chevy Express 1500, 2500 or 3500 and GMC Savana 1500, 2500 or 3500 (see application info to verify fitment with your cargo van). They come with two shorter steps, one for the driver-side door and one for the passenger-side door. They also come with powder-coated steel brackets and stainless steel hardware for a complete install. Grip Step running boards for vans are optimized for delivery trucks, construction vehicles and other commercial vans. They feature a 7" width, covered with expanded metal treads to grip the bottom of your boots for safe entry and exit every time. The metal treads are also highly resistant to wear, and they help keep the steps clean with their open, through-hole design. The aluminum construction of LUVERNE Grip Step running boards makes them strong for a rigid step, but lightweight for optimized fuel efficiency. Aluminum is also highly corrosion-resistant. To maximize corrosion resistance, Grip Step van steps are shielded in a textured black powder coat finish. This gives them an impervious layer of protection against the elements and resists chipping and UV damage. The black running boards also complement the look and style of your cargo van, adding a professional finishing touch. To complete the look, we also offer rear Grip Step van steps, providing safe, convenient access to the rear cargo area.
Grip Step van running boards are designed to be the best running boards for work vans and cargo vans, featuring a unique expanded metal tread pattern for superior traction and a 7" width for reliable footing.

LUVERNE has manufactured truck accessories in the United States since 1963, specialising in grille guards, running boards, side steps and mud guards for pickups, commercial vans and SUVs. Products are built primarily from stainless steel, aluminium and mild steel, with model-specific mounting kits that use existing frame locations for a bolt-on installation.
LUVERNE has been manufacturing automotive accessories in the United States since 1963, and six decades of continuous production have made it a nationally recognised name in the truck accessory market. Now a Lippert brand, it concentrates on a defined set of products rather than spreading across the whole aftermarket: front-end protection, step access and spray protection for pickup trucks, commercial vans and sport utility vehicles.
Step products are the largest part of the catalog and the range is unusually deep, because the right step depends on the vehicle's ride height, the width of the rocker panel and how often people get in and out. The O-Mega II six-inch oval steps give a wide, flat standing surface in polished stainless or black powder coat, while the Regal 7 seven-inch oval steps go wider still for full-size crew cabs and lifted trucks. The broader running board and side bar range covers round tube, oval and boxed profiles across cab configurations, with treads positioned at the door openings where they are used.
Grille guards protect the front end against impacts, brush and road debris, built in tubular stainless or steel with model-specific brackets that tie into factory frame mounting points. Because the fit is engineered per vehicle, installation is a bolt-on job that does not require drilling or cutting on most applications.
Rounding out the line, LUVERNE mud guards and mud flaps shield rocker panels, paint and following vehicles from stones and road spray, in widths matched to the tyre and fender they sit behind. Material choice runs through everything the brand does: stainless steel where appearance and corrosion resistance matter most, aluminium where weight is the priority, and mild steel with protective coating where strength and value lead. Customers include contractors, fleet operators, van upfitters and truck owners.

The Model 415036 package includes 2 grip step boards (36" extrusion), 4 upper support braces, 4 end caps, 4 lower spacer plates, 8 carriage bolts (5/16-18 x 1"), 8 flat washers (5/16"), 8 serrated flange nuts (5/16-18), and 8 self-drilling tek screws (#8 x 1/2"). The package does not include mounting brackets; you must purchase a separate bracket package and follow its instructions.
The Model 400340 package includes 1 grip step board (36" extrusion, part 415036), left and right front mounting brackets, left and right rear mounting brackets, 2 support braces, 2 hex head screws (3/8"-16 x 1-3/4"), 2 hex head screws (3/8"-16 x 5"), 6 serrated flange nuts (3/8"-16), 4 U-nuts (3/8"-16), 2 rubber washers, 2 cap plugs, 2 flat washers (3/8"), 4 hex screws (5/16"-18 x 0.875"), 4 flat washers (5/16"), and 4 serrated flange nuts (5/16"-18).
The manual does not specify tools required for Model 415036 assembly. Based on the fasteners supplied (carriage bolts, nuts, and self-drilling tek screws), you will need a wrench or socket for 5/16" fasteners and a screwdriver or power drill for the self-drilling screws. Consult the separate bracket package instructions for additional tool requirements.
You will need a 3/8" drill bit (for drilling the support brace hole in the board), wrenches or sockets for 5/16" and 3/8" fasteners, and a wrench for the hex head screws. The manual does not specify additional tools such as torque wrenches, but a torque wrench is recommended to achieve the specified 65 lb-ft torque on body mounting bolts.
Yes. On the left side, remove the front body mounting bolt (Step 1) and the second body mounting bolt (Step 5). The bolt, steel washer, and rubber cushion from each location will be reused. Repeat the same process on the right side (Step 12). The factory fasteners and cushions are essential to the installation and must be retained.
Yes. After attaching the boards to the brackets, you must drill a 3/8" hole in the back of the board where the support brace meets the board (Step 9). This hole is used to secure the support brace to the board with a 5/16"-18 bolt, washer, and nut (Step 10). Drilling is required on both the left and right sides.
Torque all 5/16" fasteners (carriage bolts, washers, and flange nuts) to 19 lb-ft. This applies after the step plate is set in the correct position.
Torque the front body mounting bolt to 65 lb-ft (Step 3). Torque the rear body mounting bolt to 65 lb-ft (Step 11). Both bolts must be tightened after the load reaction bolt assemblies are properly adjusted.
1. Slide the appropriate number of support braces (item #2) into the channel of each step (item #1). 2. Slide the end cap (item #3) over the front and rear of each step. 3. Using the supplied #8 x 1/2" self-drilling tek screw (item #8), screw the end cap to the bottom of the step. The manual does not specify how many support braces per step or provide torque for the tek screws.
1. Set the step on the mounting brackets and slide each support brace over the top of each mounting bracket. 2. Attach the flat spacer plate (item #4) to the bottom of the step, between the support brace and the top of the mounting bracket. 3. Using the supplied 5/16-18 x 1" carriage bolt, washer, and flange nut (items #5, #6, #7), attach the step assembly, flat spacer plate, and mounting bracket. 4. Set the step plate in the correct position and tighten all fasteners. 5. Torque all 5/16" fasteners to 19 lb-ft.
1. Remove the front body mounting bolt on the left side; retain the bolt, steel washer, and rubber cushion for reuse. 2. Install the multi-thread U-nut (item #9) on the front mounting bracket (item #2). For 1500 vans, install in the top hole; for 2500 and 3500 vans, install in the bottom hole. 3. Install the front mounting bracket to the front body mount with the washer and rubber cushion between the bracket and body. The step end of the bracket should be perpendicular to the outside body. 4. Tighten the bolt to 65 lb-ft. Repeat on the right side.
1. Install a 3/8"-16 serrated flange nut (item #8) on the 3/8"-16 x 5" hex bolt (item #7) with the flange facing toward the end of the bolt; turn on just short of the head. 2. Screw the bolt into the U-nut. 3. When the bolt comes through the other side, start another flange nut facing the same direction as the first nut. 4. Turn the nut on until there is 11/16" protruding from the face of the nut. 5. Install a 3/8" flat washer (item #12) and the 0.354 x 1.00 x 0.748 rubber washer (item #10) into the end of the bolt. 6. Adjust the load reaction bolt assembly so that the rubber cushion is snug against the frame and tighten down the outside flange nut.
1. Remove the second body mounting bolt on the left side; retain the bolt, steel washer, and rubber cushion for reuse. 2. Install the multi-thread U-nut (item #9) on the second mounting bracket (item #4). For 1500 vans, install in the top hole; for 2500 and 3500 vans, install in the bottom hole. 3. Install a 0.364 x 0.625 cap plug (item #11) onto the end of the U-nut. 4. Install the second mounting bracket and the support brace (item #13) to the second body mount with the washer and rubber cushion between the bracket and body. The step end of the bracket should be perpendicular to the outside body. 5. Snug the body mounting bolt up, but do not tighten. Repeat on the right side.
1. Install a 3/8"-16 serrated flange nut (item #8) on the 3/8"-16 x 1-3/4" hex bolt (item #6) with the flange facing toward the end of the bolt; turn on just short of the head. 2. Screw the bolt into the U-nut. 3. When the bolt comes through the other side, adjust the load reaction bolt assembly so that the rubber plug is snug against the frame and tighten down the outside flange nut. The rear load reaction bolt assembly uses a shorter bolt (1-3/4") than the front (5") and does not include a separate rubber washer.
1. After attaching the boards to the brackets, hold the support brace (item #13) up to the board. 2. Using a 3/8" drill bit, drill a hole in the back of the board where the support brace meets the board. 3. Install a 5/16"-18 bolt (item #14), 5/16" washer (item #15), and a 5/16"-18 nut (item #16) to secure the support brace to the board. This step must be completed before tightening the rear body mounting bolt.

Remove and retain the second body mounting bolt on the left side. 5. Install the rear mounting bracket with U-nut and cap plug; snug but do not tighten the body bolt. 6. Install the rear load reaction bolt assembly. 7. Attach the boards to the brackets (per separate instructions). 8. Drill and secure the support brace to the board. 9. Tighten the rear body mounting bolt to 65 lb-ft. 10. Repeat steps 1-9 on the right side.
The rubber cushion provides a load-bearing interface between the mounting bracket and the vehicle frame. It must be snug against the frame before the final tightening of the load reaction bolt assembly to ensure proper load distribution and prevent damage to the vehicle body. The manual specifies this requirement for both the front (Step 4) and rear (Step 8) load reaction bolt assemblies.
