Grip Step van steps are equipped with high-traction treads for fleet-approved safety, and they are made from powder-coated aluminum to be lightweight and provide long-lasting resistance to the elements. All Grip Step running boards are engineered for vehicle-specific installation. These van steps offer a custom fit for certain years and styles of the Chevy Express 1500, 2500 or 3500 and GMC Savana 1500, 2500 or 3500 (see application info to verify fitment with your cargo van). They come with a shorter driver-side step and longer passenger-side step for the sliding door. They also come with powder-coated steel brackets and stainless steel hardware for a complete install. Grip Step running boards for vans are optimized for delivery trucks, construction vehicles and other commercial vans. They feature a 7" width, covered with expanded metal treads to grip the bottom of your boots for safe entry and exit every time. The metal treads are also highly resistant to wear, and they help keep the steps clean with their open, through-hole design. The aluminum construction of LUVERNE Grip Step running boards makes them strong for a rigid step, but lightweight for optimized fuel efficiency. Aluminum is also highly corrosion-resistant. The Model 415110 package includes one 36" or 114" grip step board (black), support braces, end caps, spacer plates, and fasteners (carriage bolts, washers, and flange nuts). The specific bracket package required to mount the steps to your vehicle is sold separately and includes vehicle-specific mounting brackets and additional fasteners.
The Model 401347 is designed specifically for 2003 and newer Chevrolet Express and GMC Savana vans with a 155" wheelbase. If your van meets these specifications, the product is compatible. If you have a different vehicle, you will need the Model 415110 universal boards with a vehicle-specific bracket package.
Model 415110 boards are universal and can be adapted to many applications by cutting them to the required length. However, you must purchase a vehicle-specific bracket package separately to mount the boards to your vehicle. The bracket package is what determines fitment to your particular vehicle.
To install Model 415110 boards, you will need a cutting tool (saber saw, chop saw, or hack saw) if you need to modify the board length, and flat black paint to touch up the cut ends. You will also need tools to install the specific bracket package, which are detailed in the bracket package instructions.

Yes. You must remove the front body mounting bolt (step 1), the second body mounting bolt (step 5), and the nut and washer from the front spring shackle bolt (step 10). Yes. The board can be cut to a shorter length using a saber saw, chop saw, or hack saw. After cutting, you must touch up the cut ends with flat black paint to protect them.
1. Cut the board to the required length if needed, and touch up cut ends with flat black paint. 2. Slide the appropriate number of support braces (item #2) into the channel of the step board (item #1). 3. Slide the end cap (item #3) over the front and rear of each step. 4. Screw the end cap to the bottom of the step using the supplied #8 x 1/2" self-drilling tek screw (item #8). 5. Set the step on the mounting brackets and slide each support brace over the top of each mounting bracket. 6. Attach the flat spacer plate (item #4) between the support brace and the top of the mounting bracket. 7. Attach the assembly using the supplied 5/16-18 x 1" carriage bolt, washer, and flange nuts (items #5, 6, 7).
1. Remove the front body mounting bolt on the right side; save the bolt, steel washer, and rubber cushion for reuse. 2. Install the multi-thread U-nut (item #10) on the front mounting bracket (item #3), in the bottom hole for 2500 & 3500 vans. 3. Install the front mounting bracket with the washer and rubber cushion between the bracket and body mount, with the step end perpendicular to the body. Tighten to 65 LB FT. 4. Install the load reaction bolt assembly (3/8"-16 x 5" hex bolt with serrated flange nuts and rubber washer) into the U-nut. 5. Repeat steps 1-4 for the second body mounting bolt and second mounting bracket (item #4). 6. Repeat for the third mounting bracket (item #5), installing the U-nut in the top hole for 2500 & 3500 vans. 7. Install the fourth bracket (item #6) on the spring shackle bolt, measuring from the body flange to ensure alignment with the first three brackets before tightening to 65 LB FT. 8. Repeat the entire process for the left side of the vehicle, but do not tighten the left rear body mounting bolt until step 16.
Yes. You must drill a 3/8" hole in the board where the support brace meets the board (step 14). Hold the support brace up to the board and drill at that location. This hole is used to secure the support brace to the board with a 5/16"-18 bolt, washer, and hex nut.
All fasteners on the Model 415110 step assembly must be torqued to 19 LB FT. This includes the 5/16-18 x 1" carriage bolts, washers, and flange nuts that attach the step assembly, flat spacer plate, and mounting bracket.
All body mounting bolts on the Model 401347 must be torqued to 65 LB FT. This applies to the front body mounting bolt (step 3), the second body mounting bolt (step 7), the third mounting bracket bolt (step 9), the spring shackle bolt (step 11), and the rear body mounting bolt (step 16).
The step assembly is attached to the mounting brackets using 5/16-18 x 1" carriage bolts (item #5), 5/16" flat washers (item #6), and 5/16-18 serrated flange nuts (item #7). These fasteners must be torqued to 19 LB FT.
The front, second, and third mounting brackets are attached to the body using the factory body mounting bolts (which are removed, reused, and torqued to 65 LB FT). The rear mounting bracket is attached to the spring shackle bolt using a black spacer washer (item #14), 5/8" flat washer (item #11), and the factory nut (torqued to 65 LB FT). Load reaction bolt assemblies use 3/8"-16 hex bolts with serrated flange nuts and rubber washers.
The manual does not specify a torque value for the 5/16"-18 bolt that secures the support brace to the board (step 15). Contact Curt Manufacturing for the correct torque specification.
For the front load reaction bolt assembly (step 4), the 3/8"-16 x 5" hex bolt should protrude 11/16" from the face of the outer flange nut after the inner flange nut is installed and adjusted. The rubber washer and flat washer are then installed on the protruding end.
After mounting the first, second, and third brackets, measure from the bottom of the body flange down to the bottom of the mounting brackets to ensure they are all at the same height. When installing the fourth (rear) bracket, adjust it to match this dimension before tightening the bolts. This ensures the step boards will be level.
After installation, ensure all fasteners are properly tightened to 19 LB FT. Verify that the step assembly is securely attached to the mounting brackets and that the support braces are fully seated in the step channel and over the mounting brackets. Check that the end caps are securely fastened to the bottom of the step with the tek screws.
Model 401347 fits 2003 and newer Chevrolet Express and GMC Savana vans with a 155" wheelbase only. For other vehicles, use Model 415110 with a vehicle-specific bracket package.
