Grip Step van steps are equipped with high-traction treads for fleet-approved safety, and they are made from powder-coated aluminum to be lightweight and provide long-lasting resistance to the elements. All Grip Step running boards are engineered for vehicle-specific installation. These van steps offer a custom fit for certain years and styles of the Chevy Express 1500, 2500 or 3500 and GMC Savana 1500, 2500 or 3500 (see application info to verify fitment with your cargo van). They come with two longer steps, one for the driver-side door and one for the passenger-side door. They also come with powder-coated steel brackets and stainless steel hardware for a complete install. Grip Step running boards for vans are optimized for delivery trucks, construction vehicles and other commercial vans. They feature a 7" width, covered with expanded metal treads to grip the bottom of your boots for safe entry and exit every time. The metal treads are also highly resistant to wear, and they help keep the steps clean with their open, through-hole design. The aluminum construction of LUVERNE Grip Step running boards makes them strong for a rigid step, but lightweight for optimized fuel efficiency. Aluminum is also highly corrosion-resistant. Using the supplied #8 x 1/2" self-drilling tek screw (item #8), screw the end cap to the bottom of the step.
1. Set the assembled step on the mounting brackets and slide each support brace over the top of each mounting bracket. 2. Attach the flat spacer plate (item #4) to the bottom of the step, between the support brace and the top of the mounting bracket. 3. Using the supplied 5/16-18 x 1" carriage bolt, washer, and flange nuts (items #5, 6, 7), attach the step assembly, flat spacer plate, and mounting bracket. Note: some flange nuts may be supplied in the bracket package, not the step package. 4. Set the step plate in the correct position and tighten all fasteners to 19 lb-ft.

Install the multi-thread U-nut (item #11) on the front mounting bracket (item #2), selecting the top hole for 1500 vans or bottom hole for 2500 and 3500 vans. 3. Install the front bracket with the washer and rubber cushion between bracket and body, with the step end perpendicular to the body. Tighten to 65 lb-ft. 4. Install the load reaction bolt assembly using a 3/8"-16 x 5" hex bolt (item #9) and serrated flange nuts (item #10). 5. Remove the second body mounting bolt. 6. Install the U-nut on the second bracket (item #5) and cap plug (item #13). 7. Install the second bracket with washer and rubber cushion. Tighten to 65 lb-ft. 8. Install the load reaction bolt assembly using a 3/8"-16 x 1-3/4" hex bolt (item #8). 9. Measure from the body flange to the bottom of both brackets to ensure they are level. 10. Remove the nut and washer from the front spring shackle bolt, install the spacer washer (item #15), third bracket (item #6), 5/8" flat washer (item #12), and factory nut. Tighten to 65 lb-ft. 11. Repeat steps 1-10 on the right side.
Install a 3/8"-16 serrated flange nut (item #10) on the hex bolt with the flange facing toward the end of the bolt and turn on just short of the head. Screw the bolt into the U-nut. When it comes through the other side, start another flange nut facing the same direction as the first nut. For the front bracket (item #2), turn the nut on until there is 3/4" protruding from the face of the nut, then install a 3/8" flat washer (item #16) and the .354 x 1.00 x .748 rubber washer (item #14) into the end of the bolt. Adjust the assembly so the rubber cushion is snug against the frame and tighten the outside flange nut. For the second bracket (item #5), adjust the assembly so the rubber plug is snug against the frame and tighten the outside flange nut.
After mounting the first and second brackets on each side, measure from the bottom of the body flange down to the bottom of the mounting brackets to make sure they are the same height. When installing the third bracket, adjust it to this same dimension before tightening the bolts.
After all mounting brackets are installed on both sides of the vehicle, the boards attach to the mounting brackets. Refer to the instruction sheet included with your GRIP STEP boards (Model 415114 or equivalent) for the specific mounting procedure.
All fasteners attaching the step assembly to the mounting brackets must be torqued to 19 lb-ft. This applies to the 5/16-18 x 1" carriage bolts, washers, and flange nuts (items #5, 6, 7) that secure the step plate to the mounting brackets.
