Get the job done right with LUVERNE Grip Step 7" running boards. These roughneck truck side steps feature a unique expanded metal tread pattern for superior traction and a 7" width for reliable footing. They are built from aluminum alloy for exceptional, rust-free strength, and they are simple to install using high-strength vehicle-specific brackets. The rugged, expanded metal tread and angular design of Grip Step running boards truly makes them a side accessory fit for your work truck or commercial van. No matter the season, the superior traction of Grip Steps locks onto the bottom of your boots and provides safe vehicle entry and exit. Because they boast an impressive 7" width, the side steps are as comfortable as they are skid-resistant. We know the job doesn't make exceptions to keep your vehicle looking pretty, and that is why Grip Step running boards are made from aluminum and shielded in a tough powder coat finish. We use a 5052 aluminum alloy to provide maximum strength and unstoppable rust resistance. To finish things off and add a professional touch, we also apply a durable textured black powder coat and contoured black plastic end caps to further protect against dirt, moisture and other threats on the job. To make installation as simple as possible, Grip Step 7" running boards are each designed for a custom-fit installation, using vehicle-specific mounting brackets. The brackets are covered in a durable black powder coat finish and bolt onto the boards using stainless steel fasteners for long-lasting strength. This particular set of Grip Step running boards is designed to fit specific years of the Chevy Silverado 2500 HD or 3500 HD and GMC Sierra 2500 HD or 3500 HD (see application info to verify fitment). These running boards come with brackets, but the brackets are shipped separately.
Grip Step running boards are designed to be the best running boards for work trucks, featuring a unique expanded metal tread pattern for superior traction and a 7" width for reliable footing.

LUVERNE has manufactured truck accessories in the United States since 1963, specialising in grille guards, running boards, side steps and mud guards for pickups, commercial vans and SUVs. Products are built primarily from stainless steel, aluminium and mild steel, with model-specific mounting kits that use existing frame locations for a bolt-on installation.
LUVERNE has been manufacturing automotive accessories in the United States since 1963, and six decades of continuous production have made it a nationally recognised name in the truck accessory market. Now a Lippert brand, it concentrates on a defined set of products rather than spreading across the whole aftermarket: front-end protection, step access and spray protection for pickup trucks, commercial vans and sport utility vehicles.
Step products are the largest part of the catalog and the range is unusually deep, because the right step depends on the vehicle's ride height, the width of the rocker panel and how often people get in and out. The O-Mega II six-inch oval steps give a wide, flat standing surface in polished stainless or black powder coat, while the Regal 7 seven-inch oval steps go wider still for full-size crew cabs and lifted trucks. The broader running board and side bar range covers round tube, oval and boxed profiles across cab configurations, with treads positioned at the door openings where they are used.
Grille guards protect the front end against impacts, brush and road debris, built in tubular stainless or steel with model-specific brackets that tie into factory frame mounting points. Because the fit is engineered per vehicle, installation is a bolt-on job that does not require drilling or cutting on most applications.
Rounding out the line, LUVERNE mud guards and mud flaps shield rocker panels, paint and following vehicles from stones and road spray, in widths matched to the tyre and fender they sit behind. Material choice runs through everything the brand does: stainless steel where appearance and corrosion resistance matter most, aluminium where weight is the priority, and mild steel with protective coating where strength and value lead. Customers include contractors, fleet operators, van upfitters and truck owners.

The 415078 and 415088 are step boards only and include two extrusions (the step itself), eight support braces, four end caps, eight spacer plates, 16 carriage bolts (5/16-18 x 1"), 16 flat washers, 16 serrated flange nuts, and eight self-drilling tek screws (#8 x 1/2"). The 415078 is 77.62" long and the 415088 is 87.75" long. You must purchase a separate bracket package to mount these steps to your vehicle.
The 401743 bracket is designed for 2015 and newer GM 2500/3500HD Double Cab and Crew Cab pickups with gas or diesel engines. It is a body mount application with no drilling required. Compatibility with other GM truck models or years is not stated in the manual.
The 415078 and 415088 are listed as universal applications. They are step boards only and will fit any vehicle with a compatible bracket package. The specific bracket package you use determines vehicle compatibility.
Yes. The 415078 and 415088 are boards only. You must purchase a separate bracket package designed for your vehicle and follow the instructions included with that bracket package to mount the brackets before attaching the step boards.
Read the complete instructions and verify that all required parts listed on the service parts list are on hand before starting installation. For the 415078/415088, this includes two step extrusions, eight support braces, four end caps, eight spacer plates, 16 carriage bolts, 16 washers, 16 flange nuts, and eight tek screws. For the 401743, verify all bracket components and hardware are present.
1. Slide the appropriate number of support braces (item #2) into the channel of the step (item #1). 2. Slide the end cap (item #3) over the front and rear of each step and screw it to the bottom using the supplied #8 x 1/2" self-drilling tek screw (item #8). 3. Set the step on the mounting brackets and slide each support brace over the top of each mounting bracket. 4. Attach the flat spacer plate (item #4) to the bottom of the step between the support brace and the top of the mounting bracket. 5. Attach using the supplied 5/16-18 x 1" carriage bolt, washer, and flange nuts (items #5, 6, 7).
Slide the end cap (item #3) over the front and rear of each step. Using the supplied #8 x 1/2" self-drilling tek screw (item #8), screw the end cap to the bottom of the step. The manual does not specify a torque value for the tek screws.
1. Preassemble the front bracket on the left side using three 3/8"-16 x 1.0" screws, washers, and flange nuts, torqued to 19 lb-ft. 2. Assemble the load reaction studs with rubber cushion washers and flange nuts as specified. 3. Attach load reaction stud assemblies to the mounting brackets. 4. Remove factory front, center, and rear body mount bolts. 5. Install front, center, and rear mounting brackets (leave fasteners finger tight). 6. Attach rear outboard bracket to rear inboard bracket using three 3/8"-16 x 1.0" screws, washers, and flange nuts, torqued to 19 lb-ft. 7. Install step boards per their instructions. 8. Position load reaction bolt assembly so rubber cushion is snug against the frame side and tighten all 3/8" flange nuts to 19 lb-ft. 9. Repeat for the right side.
1. On the short threaded end of the load reaction stud (item #12), install a 3/8" serrated flange nut (item #11) backwards to the bottom of the thread. 2. Install a 3/8" flat washer (item #10) and rubber cushion washer (item #9) tight up against the serrated flange nut. The end of the stud must be recessed in the rubber washer approximately 3/16". 3. On the long threaded end of the stud, install a 3/8" serrated flange nut (item #11) backwards near to the bottom of the threads.
Insert the stud from the inboard or frame side through the lowest hole in the bent flange of the bracket that will allow the rubber washer to seat firmly against the side wall of the frame. Install a 3/8" serrated flange nut (item #11) on the outboard end of the stud (finger tight only). Later, after positioning the assembly so the rubber cushion is snug against the frame side, tighten the 3/8" flange nuts on either side of the bracket to 19 lb-ft.
No. When installing the front, center, and rear mounting brackets to the factory body mount bolts, leave all fasteners finger tight initially. Only after the step boards are installed and the load reaction bolt assembly is positioned so the rubber cushion is snug against the frame side should you tighten all fasteners to their final torque specification of 19 lb-ft.
Torque all 5/16" fasteners to 19 lb-ft. This applies to the carriage bolts (item #5), washers (item #6), and flange nuts (item #7) that attach the step assembly, flat spacer plate, and mounting bracket.
Torque all 3/8" fasteners to 19 lb-ft. This applies to the 3/8"-16 x 1.0" screws, flat washers, and flange nuts used to preassemble the front bracket, attach the rear outboard bracket to the rear inboard bracket, and tighten the load reaction stud assembly flange nuts.
Torque the body mount fasteners to the manufacturer's specifications. The manual does not provide a specific torque value; you must refer to the vehicle manufacturer's specifications.
No. The 401743 is a no-drill application. It uses the existing factory body mount bolt holes on 2015+ GM 2500/3500HD Double and Crew Cab pickups.
Due to excessive thread locker in the body mount bolt area on 2010+ GM Silverado/Sierra, use caution when removing the body mount bolts. The thread locker may make removal difficult.
The rubber cushion washer (item #9) provides a cushioned interface between the load reaction stud assembly and the vehicle frame. It must be positioned snug up against the side of the frame to properly distribute load and protect the frame from direct contact with the metal stud assembly.
The manual states that mounting brackets must not touch the inside wall of the body mount housing but does not explain the reason. This is likely to prevent interference with the body mount's function or to ensure proper load distribution. Verify bracket positioning during installation.
