We use a 5052 aluminum alloy to provide maximum strength and unstoppable rust resistance. To finish things off and add a professional touch, we also apply a durable textured black powder coat and contoured black plastic end caps to further protect against dirt, moisture and other threats on the job. To make installation as simple as possible, Grip Step 7" running boards are each designed for a custom-fit installation, using vehicle-specific mounting brackets. The brackets are covered in a durable black powder coat finish and bolt onto the boards using stainless steel fasteners for long-lasting strength. This particular set of Grip Step running boards is designed to fit specific years of the Chevy Silverado 2500 HD or 3500 HD and GMC Sierra 2500 HD or 3500 HD (see application info to verify fitment). These running boards come with brackets, but the brackets are shipped separately.

1. Slide the appropriate number of support braces (item #2) into the channel of the step board (item #1). 2. Slide the end cap (item #3) over the front and rear of each step. 3. Using the supplied #8 x 1/2" self-drilling tek screw (item #8), screw the end cap to the bottom of the step. 4. Set the step on the mounting brackets and slide each support brace over the top of each mounting bracket. 5. Attach the flat spacer plate (item #4) to the bottom of the step, between the support brace and the top of the mounting bracket. 6. Attach using the supplied 5/16-18 x 1" carriage bolt, washer, and flange nuts (items #5, 6, 7). 7. Tighten all fasteners and torque all 5/16" fasteners to 19 LB FT.
On the left side of the vehicle, assemble the front bracket (items #1, 3, 14) using three 3/8"-16 x 1.0" screws, 3/8" flat washers, and 3/8" flange nuts (items #10, 11, 13). Torque to 19 LB FT. Repeat on the right side using the right-hand front bracket (item #2). See Figure 1 in the manual for the assembly configuration.
The load reaction stud assembly requires careful sequencing: 1. On the short threaded end of the stud (item #12), install a 3/8" serrated flange nut (item #11) backwards to the bottom of the thread. 2. Install a 3/8" flat washer (item #10) and rubber cushion washer (item #9) tight against the serrated flange nut. The end of the stud must be recessed in the rubber washer approximately 3/16". 3. On the long threaded end of the stud, install a 3/8" serrated flange nut (item #11) backwards to near the bottom of the threads. You will have six studs to assemble (one set per bracket location).
Insert the stud from the inboard (frame) side through the lowest hole in the bent flange of the bracket that will allow the rubber washer to seat firmly against the side wall of the frame. Install a 3/8" serrated flange nut (item #11) on the outboard end of the stud (finger tight only). Do not fully tighten at this stage. After positioning the load reaction bolt assembly so the rubber cushion is snug against the side of the frame, tighten the 3/8" flange nuts on either side of the bracket to 19 LB FT.
1. Install the front mounting bracket (items #1, 3) to the front body mount (leave fasteners finger tight). 2. Install the center mounting bracket (item #4) to the center body mount (leave fasteners finger tight). 3. Install the rear inboard mounting bracket (item #8) and washer (item #15) to the rear body mount (leave fasteners finger tight). 4. Attach the rear outboard mounting bracket (item #6) to the rear inboard mounting bracket (item #8) using three 3/8"-16 x 1.0" screws, 3/8" flat washers, and 3/8" flange nuts (items #13, 10, 11), torqued to 19 LB FT. The rear outboard bracket must be mounted to the back side (toward the rear of the vehicle). Note: there is a difference between double cab and crew cab applications—see Figures 2 and 3.
