LUVERNE MegaStep wheel-to-wheel running boards give you the best of both worlds with a ready-to-work construction and the stylish of popular nerf bars. They feature high-traction rubber treads, a sleek finish and a non-corrosive build -- all to give you dependable footing whether you're headed for work or play. MegaStep wheel-to-wheel running boards are uniquely designed with extra length on the rear of the boards, reaching all the way to the back wheels. This provides a convenient and secure step for reaching into the truck bed and accessing the crossover truck tool box, headache rack or 5th wheel hitch. The entire length of the running boards is covered with a non-skid rubber tread for enhanced safety, even in wet, rainy conditions. Unlike plastic treads, rubber offers better grip for your boots or shoes. The base of MegaStep wheel-to-wheel running boards is an extruded aluminum alloy, providing excellent strength, while remaining lightweight and completely rust-free. To give these truck side steps a touch of style, they are fitted with a polished stainless steel trim that contours around the boards and gives them a look similar to popular nerf bars. The trim piece is polished to a mirror-like shine and easily withstands rain, snow, dirt and more. To make installation fast, easy and secure, LUVERNE MegaStep wheel-to-wheel steps are made vehicle-specific. Each set has a specific board length and vehicle-specific brackets, providing a custom fit for each unique truck. The brackets install using pre-existing mounting points to eliminate difficult modifications, and the running boards can be positioned inward, outward, forward or backward to suit personal preferences. This particular set of MegaStep wheel-to-wheel running boards is designed for specific years of the Ram 1500 and Dodge Ram 1500 (see application information to verify fitment; brackets included but shipped separately).
LUVERNE MegaStep 6-1/2" wheel-to-wheel running boards are the ultimate combination of style and functionality, featuring 5" wide rubber treads that extend the full length of the side steps for dependable, non-skid traction wherever the road takes you.

LUVERNE has manufactured truck accessories in the United States since 1963, specialising in grille guards, running boards, side steps and mud guards for pickups, commercial vans and SUVs. Products are built primarily from stainless steel, aluminium and mild steel, with model-specific mounting kits that use existing frame locations for a bolt-on installation.
LUVERNE has been manufacturing automotive accessories in the United States since 1963, and six decades of continuous production have made it a nationally recognised name in the truck accessory market. Now a Lippert brand, it concentrates on a defined set of products rather than spreading across the whole aftermarket: front-end protection, step access and spray protection for pickup trucks, commercial vans and sport utility vehicles.
Step products are the largest part of the catalog and the range is unusually deep, because the right step depends on the vehicle's ride height, the width of the rocker panel and how often people get in and out. The O-Mega II six-inch oval steps give a wide, flat standing surface in polished stainless or black powder coat, while the Regal 7 seven-inch oval steps go wider still for full-size crew cabs and lifted trucks. The broader running board and side bar range covers round tube, oval and boxed profiles across cab configurations, with treads positioned at the door openings where they are used.
Grille guards protect the front end against impacts, brush and road debris, built in tubular stainless or steel with model-specific brackets that tie into factory frame mounting points. Because the fit is engineered per vehicle, installation is a bolt-on job that does not require drilling or cutting on most applications.
Rounding out the line, LUVERNE mud guards and mud flaps shield rocker panels, paint and following vehicles from stones and road spray, in widths matched to the tyre and fender they sit behind. Material choice runs through everything the brand does: stainless steel where appearance and corrosion resistance matter most, aluminium where weight is the priority, and mild steel with protective coating where strength and value lead. Customers include contractors, fleet operators, van upfitters and truck owners.

The kit includes mounting brackets (front, center, rear inboard and outboard, W2W inboard and outboard, and support brackets), load reaction studs (3" and 4"), hex screws in multiple sizes (M12, 3/8-16, ½"-13, and 5/16"-18), serrated flange nuts, flat washers, rubber cushion washers, and a 2.0" washer. See the Service Parts List for complete quantities and part numbers of each component.
Yes. You must remove the factory front, center, and rear body mount bolts on the right side of the vehicle. These factory bolts will not be reused and are replaced with the M12 – 110MM bolts (Item #13) supplied in the kit.
1. On the short threaded end of the stud, install a 3/8" serrated flange nut (Item #17) backwards to the bottom of the thread. 2. Install a 3/8" flat washer (Item #16) and rubber cushion washer (Item #15) tight against the serrated flange nut. The stud end must be recessed in the rubber washer approximately 3/16". 3. On the long threaded end, install a 3/8" serrated flange nut (Item #17) backwards near the bottom of the threads. Use a 4" stud (Item #19) for the front bracket and a 3" stud (Item #18) for the rear brackets.
No. Leave all fasteners finger-tight during the initial installation steps (Steps 4 and 5). Only tighten fasteners in the final step (Step 7 and 8) after all brackets are positioned. This allows for proper alignment before final tightening.
If present, yes. Step 4.3 states: "IF THERE IS A CAST IRON DAMPENER ON THE REAR BODY MOUNT PLEASE REMOVE (THIS WILL NOT BE REUSED)." Check your vehicle's rear body mount before installation.
Three 3/8-16 X 1.0 screws (Item #20), three 3/8" flat washers (Item #16), and three 3/8" flange nuts (Item #17) are used to attach the rear outboard mounting bracket (Item #7, 8) to the rear inboard mounting bracket (Item #5, 6) in the lower mounting holes.
The inboard mounting brackets (Item #9, 10) are attached to the frame using 1/2-13 X 1.00 hex screws (Item #22), 1/2" washers (Item #21), and 1/2-13 serrated flange nuts (Item #23). Leave these brackets loose during initial installation. Note that these mounting brackets are not the same from left to right.
The W2W support bracket (Item #12) is attached to the inboard mounting bracket using two 3/8-16 X 1" hex screws (Item #20), two 3/8" washers (Item #16), and two 3/8-16 flange nuts (Item #17). It is also attached to the frame using one 1/2"-13 X 1" hex screw (Item #22), one 1/2" washer (Item #21), and one 1/2"-13 serrated flange nut (Item #23). Leave loose during initial installation.
The W2W outboard mounting bracket (Item #11) is attached to the inboard W2W bracket using two black 5/16"-18 X 1" hex screws (Item #25), two black 5/16" washers (Item #26), and two black 5/16"-18 flange nuts (Item #24). Leave this bracket loose during initial installation.
Tighten the ½"-13 flange nuts to 60 LB FT. This is the final tightening step after all brackets are positioned.
Tighten the 3/8" flange nuts on either side of the load reaction stud bracket to 19 LB FT. Position the load reaction stud assembly so that the rubber cushion is snug against the side of the frame before tightening.
The rubber cushion washer (Item #15) provides a cushioned interface between the bracket and the vehicle frame. It must be recessed approximately 3/16" into the stud end and positioned snug against the side of the frame before final tightening to 19 LB FT.
Yes. Use a 4" stud (Item #19) for the front bracket and a 3" stud (Item #18) for the rear brackets. Do not interchange them.
No. The inboard W2W mounting brackets (Item #9, 10) are not the same from left to right. Ensure you install the correct bracket on each side of the vehicle.
Both the front and center mounting brackets are attached using M12 – 110MM bolts (Item #13) and 2.0" washers (Item #14). Leave these fasteners finger-tight during initial installation.
The rear mounting bracket is attached using M12 – 110MM bolts (Item #13) and ½" flat washers (Item #21). Leave these fasteners finger-tight during initial installation.
Yes. Step 6 states: "ATTACH THE STEP PLATE PER THE INSTRUCTIONS INCLUDED WITH YOUR STEP PLATE ASSEMBLY." The step plate has its own installation instructions that must be followed after the brackets are installed.
The W2W MEGA/GRIP Step Brackets fit 09-16 RAM 1500 Pickups only.
Yes. You must remove the factory front, center, and rear body mount bolts on the right side. These are replaced with supplied M12 – 110MM bolts and will not be reused.
Leave all fasteners finger-tight during initial installation. Tighten them only in the final step (Step 7 and 8) after all brackets are positioned for proper alignment.
Tighten ½"-13 flange nuts to 60 LB FT and 3/8" flange nuts on load reaction studs to 19 LB FT. Torque specifications for other fasteners (M12, 1/2-13 hex screws, 3/8-16 hex screws, 5/16"-18 hex screws) are not provided in the manual.
No. The inboard W2W mounting brackets (Item #9, 10) are not identical from left to right. Install the correct bracket on each side.
