They are constructed from strong, lightweight, rust-free aluminum, and to truly make them a step up from the rest, we shield them in a highly durable powder coat finish. This ensures maximum corrosion resistance and excellent protection against scuffs and scratches. The side steps are available in two powder coat finish options, including textured black and silver powder coat. LUVERNE has manufactured truck accessories in the United States since 1963, specialising in grille guards, running boards, side steps and mud guards for pickups, commercial vans and SUVs. Products are built primarily from stainless steel, aluminium and mild steel, with model-specific mounting kits that use existing frame locations for a bolt-on installation.
LUVERNE has been manufacturing automotive accessories in the United States since 1963, and six decades of continuous production have made it a nationally recognised name in the truck accessory market. Now a Lippert brand, it concentrates on a defined set of products rather than spreading across the whole aftermarket: front-end protection, step access and spray protection for pickup trucks, commercial vans and sport utility vehicles.
Step products are the largest part of the catalog and the range is unusually deep, because the right step depends on the vehicle's ride height, the width of the rocker panel and how often people get in and out. The O-Mega II six-inch oval steps give a wide, flat standing surface in polished stainless or black powder coat, while the Regal 7 seven-inch oval steps go wider still for full-size crew cabs and lifted trucks. The broader running board and side bar range covers round tube, oval and boxed profiles across cab configurations, with treads positioned at the door openings where they are used.
Grille guards protect the front end against impacts, brush and road debris, built in tubular stainless or steel with model-specific brackets that tie into factory frame mounting points. Because the fit is engineered per vehicle, installation is a bolt-on job that does not require drilling or cutting on most applications.
Rounding out the line, LUVERNE mud guards and mud flaps shield rocker panels, paint and following vehicles from stones and road spray, in widths matched to the tyre and fender they sit behind. The package includes two step extrusions (aluminum, available in silver or black, in three lengths: 69.0", 75.0", or 85.0"), four step pads, four end caps, 24 square head bolts (5/16-18 x 1"), 24 serrated flange nuts (5/16-18), and 20 TEK screws (#8-18 x 1/2") for pad attachment. You will also need a separate bracket package specific to your vehicle, which includes its own installation instructions.
The O-MEGA II steps are universal application. However, step pad positioning varies by vehicle model and cab style. The manual provides specific pad location guidance for Silverado, Sierra, Colorado, Canyon, Avalanche, Suburban, Yukon, Yukon XL, Tahoe, RAM Quad/Crew/Mega Cab, Dodge Dakota Quad Cab, Dodge Durango, Ford F150 Super Cab/Super Crew Cab, Ford Super Duty Super Cab/Crew Cab, and Toyota Tundra and Tacoma models. You will also need a bracket package designed for your specific vehicle, which is sold separately.
You will need a drill to create five 1/8" holes in the step plates for the step pad attachment screws. The manual does not specify other tools required. Refer to the separate bracket package instructions for any additional tools needed to mount the brackets to your vehicle.
Yes. The manual states: "Follow the instructions included with the specific bracket package that you are using, to mount the brackets to your vehicle." The bracket package instructions are separate from these step installation instructions and must be followed before attaching the O-MEGA steps to the brackets.
Follow this sequence: (1) Install the bracket package on your vehicle per its separate instructions. (2) Position step pads on the step plates using the vehicle-specific location guide on sheet 2. (3) Drill five 1/8" holes through the step pads into the step plates. (4) Attach the pads with five #8-18 x 1/2" TEK screws. (5) Install square head bolts into the slots on the bottom of the step plates. (6) Install end caps and tighten the nuts to 5 lb-ft. (7) Position the assembled step on the mounting brackets, align the square head screws in the bracket slots, and center the step front to rear. (8) Install 5/16" serrated flange nuts on the square head screws and tighten to 19 lb-ft.
Step pad location varies by vehicle model and cab style. Refer to the Step Pad Location Guide on sheet 2 of the manual. Find your vehicle model and cab type, then position Pad A and Pad B at the specified distances. The manual notes that these locations are suggestions only and may be placed at the purchaser's discretion.
Yes. You must drill five 1/8" holes through each step pad into the step plate. Use the step pad as a guide for hole placement. These holes are for the five #8-18 x 1/2" TEK screws that secure the pads to the plates.
Tighten the end cap nuts to 5 lb-ft.
Install 5/16" serrated flange nuts on the square head screws (item #4) and tighten to 19 lb-ft. These bolts secure the step to the mounting brackets.
The square head bolts are 5/16-18 x 1" (item #4). There are 24 bolts provided in the service parts list. These bolts are inserted into the designated slots in the bottom of the step plates and secured with 5/16" serrated flange nuts tightened to 19 lb-ft.
Five #8-18 x 1/2" TEK screws (item #6) per pad. These are stainless steel, bright zinc plated screws. The holes are drilled 1/8" diameter using the step pad as a guide.
Position the step so that the square head screws (item #4) are located in the slots of the mounting brackets and the step is centered front to rear on the vehicle. Then install the 5/16" serrated flange nuts on the square head screws and tighten to 19 lb-ft.
