Reese has designed towing equipment since 1952 and remains a benchmark for heavy-duty towing. The line covers fifth wheel hitches such as the modular M5, gooseneck couplers including the Goose Box, air-ride and short-bed pin boxes, weight distribution systems with active sway control, and the accessories that connect them, all built to exceed published industry standards.
Reese has been pioneering towing performance since 1952, when Margaret Reese asked her husband TJ to stop travel trailers rocking every time somebody walked through them. His answer, the first pair of stabilising jacks, was simple and effective enough to change the RV industry. From that starting point Reese grew into a designer and manufacturer of complete towing systems, and today it anchors the heavy-duty end of the Horizon Global towing portfolio.
Fifth wheel towing is where the brand's engineering is most visible. The M5 fifth wheel hitch uses a modular design that breaks into manageable sections for assembly, with a wider stance, tighter tolerances and a shock absorption system aimed at the jolts that travel up through a truck bed. For owners who would rather tow from a gooseneck coupler and keep the bed clear, the Goose Box 20K replaces the trailer's king pin with a gooseneck connection carrying its own air-ride cushioning.
Pin boxes are a Reese speciality. The 5th Airborne uses air-ride technology to dampen road shock and reduce the chucking motion that makes fifth wheel towing tiring, while the Sidewinder was designed for short-bed pickups, pivoting the connection point so the trailer can turn sharply without the front cap meeting the cab.
For conventional towing, Reese weight distribution systems restore load to the tow vehicle's front axle and control sway. The Pro Round Bar distributes weight evenly while damping sway, and the Pro Dual Cam II uses active cam-based sway control that works harder the stronger the sway force becomes. Complete kits pair bars, head and shank to a rated tongue weight, and dedicated sway control kits can be added to existing setups. The products suit RV owners, horse and livestock haulers and anyone towing near the upper end of a vehicle's rating.

Yes, drilling is required. The kit requires drilling 2 center holes in addition to 8 holes for the 30035 kit. You must drill only through the wall of the frame to which the bracket is mounted—do not drill through both walls of the frame.
The short bracket may have to be notched to fit around the shock mount, depending on your truck's configuration. This is shown in the installation diagram and should be assessed during the fitting process.
An optional weld pattern is available for the 58531 kit. However, extra caution is required when welding, especially on tubular frames which have thinner walls than previous C-channel frames. The manual notes that tubular frames require extra care during welding. Improper welds are not covered by warranty.
The 58531 kit includes: 2" carriage bolts, slotted spacers (2 for each hole), conical washers, nuts, a circle block for the forward adapter bracket attachment, a .25" x 1.50" x 3" block and a .375" x 1.50" x 2" block for the rearward attachment, and a pull wire for rib neck bolts. A ½"-13 x 2" hex head bolt is supplied as a substitute option for Row 2 rail attachment if needed.
The driver side front and rearward adapter bracket frame attachments must be torqued to 75 Ft.-Lbs.
Rib neck bolts must be pulled through large oval access holes on the inside of the frame using the supplied pull wire. This allows the bolts to be positioned without removing the frame.
The forward adapter bracket attachment is mounted to the frame using a circle block, which fits into a circular embossment on the inside of the frame. Fasten it using the supplied carriage bolt, conical washer, and nut. The conical washers and nuts attach on the outside of the bracket with the carriage bolt head on the inside of the frame. Torque to 75 Ft.-Lbs.
The rearward adapter bracket frame attachment uses a .25" x 1.50" x 3" block on the inside of the frame and a .375" x 1.50" x 2" block between the adapter bracket and frame. Fasten using the supplied carriage bolt, conical washer, and nut, with conical washers and nuts on the outside of the bracket and the carriage bolt head on the inside of the frame. Torque to 75 Ft.-Lbs.
If you have difficulty torquing the carriage bolt for the rail attachment to the adapter bracket in Row 2, you may substitute the supplied ½"-13 x 2" hex head bolt instead.
The bed sill attachment requires drilling 2 center holes in addition to the 8 holes for the 30035 kit. Install 2" carriage bolts with slotted spacers (2 for each hole) above or below the bed to fill bed corrugation. Bolt the plate below the bed with a washer and nut.
Contact between steel components (spacer blocks, frame brackets, etc.) and the aluminum bed can cause corrosion. To prevent this, ensure that paint is not damaged on the brackets and truck bed. Repaint any areas where holes were drilled through the bed to protect against corrosion.
