Tekonsha is a leading manufacturer of electronic trailer brake controllers, pioneering the category in the 1970s. The lineup spans proportional units such as the Prodigy P3 and Prodigy iD, time-delayed controllers, the wireless Prodigy RF, plus vehicle-specific wiring harnesses, adapters and trailer brake components engineered for smooth, predictable stopping at any speed.
Tekonsha Engineering Company began in 1964 building RV steps and mirrors. Within a few years it had found its real calling, and by the 1970s Tekonsha was pioneering the manufacture of electronic trailer brake controllers, the product category that still defines the brand. More than half a century later it remains the reference name in trailer braking and is part of the Horizon Global group alongside Reese, Draw-Tite, Fulton, Bulldog and Wesbar.
A brake controller is the component that tells a trailer's electric brakes how hard to work and when, and getting that right is the difference between a controlled stop and a shove from behind. Tekonsha builds both major types. Proportional controllers use an internal accelerometer to sense how quickly the tow vehicle is slowing and apply trailer braking to match, so light braking stays light and hard braking is immediate. Time-delayed controllers ramp to a preset output over a fixed interval, a simpler and more economical approach that suits occasional towing.
The current brake controller range covers most of that ground. The Prodigy iD pairs with a phone through Tekonsha's EDGE technology for setup and monitoring, the P3 offers storable settings for multiple trailers and a trilingual colour LED display, the Prodigy P2 adds a dimmable display and boost mode for heavier loads, and the Voyager keeps operation simple and dependable. The Prodigy RF mounts to the trailer itself and controls wirelessly, which suits rental fleets and drivers who swap tow vehicles.
Installation is supported by vehicle-specific brake control harnesses that plug into a factory connector rather than requiring cut-and-splice wiring, along with mounting brackets and adapters. Matched controller bundles pair a unit with the correct harness. Products are tested to meet and often exceed published industry standards.

The Tekonsha Tow Harness, 7-Way TK118275 (Part #TK118275) Refer to the included instructions for installation details. Basic hand tools are typically all you need.
The T-One® T-Connector is a factory tow harness adapter for Range Rover Sport vehicles. It connects the vehicle's factory 6-pin and 4-pin tow connectors to a 7-way trailer connector, allowing you to tow trailers with standard 7-way plugs. The product includes a harness with 7 wires, cable ties, and two tow plug adapters.
Yes, the T-One® T-Connector model 118275-037 is designed for Range Rover Sport vehicles. The installation accesses the factory tow harness connectors located behind the rear bumper access cover.
You will need: a trim panel puller, a drill with a 3/32" drill bit, a Philips head screwdriver, a flat screwdriver, and a test-probe. Safety glasses are also required during installation.
The access cover is located on the vehicle's rear bumper area. You will unfasten two clips holding the cover to the vehicle using a screwdriver to access the factory tow harness connectors behind it.
Behind the rear bumper access cover, you will find a grey 6-pin connector and a 4-pin connector. These are the factory tow harness connectors. The T-One® T-Connector includes adapters for both: a 6-pin tow plug adapter and a 4-pin tow plug adapter that lock into these factory connectors.
First, remove the factory tow harness protective caps and clean the mating surfaces if necessary. Insert the 6-pin tow plug adapter into the grey 6-pin connector and lock it into place. Then insert the 4-pin tow plug adapter into the 4-pin connector and lock it into place. Ensure both connectors are fully inserted with locking tabs in place.
Secure the harness with the cable ties provided. Route the harness containing the 7 wires along the inside of the bumper toward the center of the vehicle to the 7-way mounting location. Be careful to avoid any areas that would pinch, cut, or melt the wire, and prevent damage or rattling.
Yes. After completing all other installation steps, replace the cover that you removed during the initial access to the factory connectors.
Do not exceed the lower of your vehicle manufacturer's rating or these limits: stop/turn light (10 amps), tail lights (10 amps), backup (10 amps), power circuit (30 amps), and trailer brakes for 3 axles/6 brakes (20 amps). Overloading the circuit can cause fires.
All connections must be complete before testing. Reset the vehicle electrical system by temporarily removing the key from the ignition. Then test and verify the installation using a test light or by connecting an actual trailer. This ensures all connections are functioning properly.
Resetting the vehicle electrical system ensures the vehicle recognizes the new tow harness connections. To reset, temporarily remove the key from the ignition. This should be done before your initial test with a test light or trailer.
Yes. Before inserting the tow plug adapters, remove the factory tow harness protective caps and check that the mating surface is clean and free of dirt. Clean the surface if necessary to ensure a proper connection.
Yes, it is designed specifically for Range Rover Sport vehicles.
Trim panel puller, drill with 3/32" bit, Philips head screwdriver, flat screwdriver, test-probe, and safety glasses.
