Each custom-fit class 3 hitch package is made for vehicle-specific mounting. This particular kit fits certain years of the Honda CR-V (see application info to verify vehicle compatibility). It provides a weight carrying capacity of 3,500 lbs. GTW and 350 lbs. TW. CURT class 3 trailer hitches are typically used to attach and haul utility trailers, boat trailers, campers, snowmobile or ATV haulers and more (NOTE: Never exceed the lowest-rated towing component). Each class 3 hitch has a 2" receiver tube and is tested in accordance with SAE J684 for safety. To ensure that CURT class 3 receiver hitches have what it takes for serious trailering, they are designed using a hands-on approach and are constructed with rugged, high-strength steel and precise welding. They are built with some of the most advanced technology in the industry, and each one is custom-fitted to work with a specific make and model. Some automotive manufacturers install a special socket on the vehicle to be used for vehicle-to-trailer wiring. Although this special socket is not equipped on every vehicle, a CURT custom wiring connector -- also called a T-connector -- utilizes the socket for simple, stress-free installation. Rather than requiring you to cut, splice and solder into your vehicle's wiring system, the custom wiring connector uses a single OEM-compatible plug and instantly provides a standard, universal vehicle-to-trailer wiring connection, typically in the form a 4-way flat. All CURT custom wiring connectors are made vehicle-specific for the easiest possible installation and the best fit. This particular plug-in connector provides a 4-way flat socket and is designed to be a custom wiring option for certain years of the Honda Accord, CRV, Element, Odyssey, Pilot and Prelude, Acura Integra, CL, RL, TL and MDX and Isuzu Oasis (to verify your vehicle compatibility, see application info). It comes with all necessary hardware to establish a solid connection. It also comes with a dust cover to keep the connector socket clean when not in use. Fishwiring is a technique used to thread fasteners through frame holes. In this installation, you use 7/16" fishwire (included) to guide carriage bolts and spacers through the large frame hole and out the small front hole, then repeat the process for the rear frame hole on both sides of the frame.
Yes. The first installation step requires you to lower the exhaust by removing two rear exhaust hangers and one hanger in front of the axle. After installation is complete, you reattach these three hangers. If the muffler interferes with the hitch, you may need to modify the exhaust hangers.
1. Lower the exhaust by removing two rear hangers and one front hanger. 2. Fishwire a 7/16" carriage bolt and spacer through the large frame hole and out the small front hole. 3. Fishwire a carriage bolt and spacer into the rear frame hole; repeat for the driver's side frame rail. 4. Place the U-bolt over the tow hook in the middle of the vehicle. 5. Raise the hitch into position and secure with the U-bolt and flange nuts first, then attach the remaining 7/16" hardware. 6. Torque all fasteners. 7. Reattach the three exhaust hangers.
Torque all 7/16" hardware to 70 ft-lbs and all 3/8" hardware to 45 ft-lbs.

On Honda Accord and other passenger cars (Acura CL, Integra, RL, TL), the connector is located behind the driver side taillight housing, inside the trunk. Open the trunk and remove the plastic screw securing the trunk liner on the passenger side, then pull back the felt liner to locate the connector.
On 95–98 Honda Odyssey models, the connector is located behind the driver side taillight. Remove the rear access panel located inside the van to access it.
On 99–04 Honda Odyssey models, open the vehicle trunk and remove the driver side cargo bracket screw. Pull back the trim panel to locate the vehicle wiring connector.
On 97–01 Honda CR-V models, remove the three screws securing the rear driver side speaker and cover. Remove the speaker and cover to locate the vehicle wiring connector, which will be secured to the speaker wires.
On 02–06 Honda CR-V models, open the trunk and remove the cargo door on the floor. Remove the storage container, rear threshold, and driver side cargo bracket screw. Remove the cargo screw on the driver side trim panel and the cargo bracket bolt from the vehicle floor. Carefully pry the trim panel away to reveal the wiring connector taped to wires near the vehicle floor.
On Acura MDX models, open the trunk and remove the cargo door on the floor. Remove the head rests from the storage location. Locate and remove two clips inside the storage area on the threshold. Carefully pry the threshold to remove it. The vehicle wiring connector will be located inside the cargo area on the driver side, attached to the threshold plate. Remove the connector from its protective cap.
On Honda Pilot models, open the trunk and carefully pry the driver side threshold to locate the vehicle wiring connector.
On Honda Element models, open the trunk and remove the cargo door on the floor. Remove the screws holding the spring loaded hinge cover and set it aside. Carefully remove the three plastic clips holding the passenger side trim panel to the floor. Remove the five screws holding the passenger side trim panel in place. Remove the cargo net bracket and carefully pull back the trim panel, being careful not to break any tabs or clips. The connector is located in this area.
First, untape the vehicle connectors carefully, taking care not to damage the locking tabs. Inspect the connector for dirt and debris and clean if necessary. Then insert the custom wiring connector into the vehicle connector. Make sure the connectors are fully inserted with the locking tabs in place.
Locate a flat spot inside the vehicle near the taillight. Adhere the black converter box using the provided double-sided tape.
Yes. On Honda CR-V models only, route the custom wiring connector 4-flat plug out from under the trim panel and along the carpet edge.
Reinstall all items you removed during installation. Reconnect the negative battery terminal. Install the provided 4-flat dust cover to help prevent corrosion.
