Draw-Tite has designed custom-fit trailer hitches since 1946 and is one of North America's most widely fitted hitch brands. Receiver hitches use solid all-welded construction and low-profile designs that follow modern vehicle contours, install with minimal bumper cutting or drilling, meet or exceed V5 CSA and SAE J684 standards, and carry a limited lifetime warranty.
Draw-Tite has been leading custom-fit trailer hitch design and engineering since its founding in 1946, and it remains one of the most widely fitted hitch brands in North America. The company's stated approach is straightforward: every hitch is tested rigorously so that it performs well beyond published industry standards, a philosophy it markets as Tested Tough. It sits within the Horizon Global towing group alongside Reese, Fulton, Bulldog, Tekonsha, Bargman and Wesbar.
Custom fit is the defining characteristic. Rather than adapting a universal design, Draw-Tite engineers a trailer hitch for a specific make, model and model year, so it bolts to existing frame locations with minimal bumper cutting or drilling. Low-profile designs follow the rear contours and aerodynamic styling of modern vehicles, which matters more than it once did now that rear fascias are shaped and sensor-equipped. Construction is solid all-welded steel for maximum strength, and every hitch meets or exceeds V5 CSA and SAE J684 standards and is backed by a nationwide limited lifetime warranty.
The range spans receiver sizes and classes to suit different loads, from 1-1/4 inch receivers for bike racks, cargo carriers and light trailers up through 2 inch receivers for heavier towing. Front mount hitches add a receiver at the front of the vehicle for winch mounts, snow plows, spare carriers and precise trailer positioning.
The Hidden Hitch series takes concealment further by mounting behind the vehicle's rear fascia, so the vehicle keeps its factory appearance until a removable receiver is fitted. Each is custom designed per make and model for a no-drill installation that does not compromise ground clearance, rated for up to 3,500 pounds gross trailer weight and 350 pounds tongue weight. Matching plug-and-play wiring completes the towing system.

The Draw-tite Class 1 Trailer Hitch, 1-1/4" Square Receiver, Black for Select Volkswagen GTI, Volkswagen Golf 24925 (Part #DT24925) Refer to the included instructions for installation details. Basic hand tools are typically all you need.
Yes, part number 24925 is designed for 2015-current Volkswagen Golf models. However, the manual recommends visiting the manufacturer's website for the most up-to-date information regarding specific application years and trim levels, as compatibility may vary.
The 24925 is a weight-carrying hitch with a maximum gross trailer weight of 2000 lb (908 kg) and maximum tongue weight of 200 lb (90.8 kg). Do not exceed the lower of your vehicle manufacturer's towing rating or these limits.
Required tools: ratchet, torque wrench, safety glasses, 13 mm socket, 3/4" socket, flat head screwdriver, T10 Torx bit socket, 6" socket extension, bungee cord, plastic trim tools, and utility knife.
The manual does not specify that the battery must be disconnected for this installation.
No drilling is required. The hitch uses existing frame rail slots and factory bumper mounting points. However, the lower fascia must be trimmed: locate the center of the bottom fascia and trim a 2.5" tall by 3.0" wide area.
Tighten all M8 CL8.8 fasteners to 20 Lb.-Ft. (27 N·M) and all 1/2" GR5 fasteners to 75 Lb.-Ft. (102 N·M). A torque wrench is required to achieve proper torque.
The maximum tongue weight is 200 lb (90.8 kg). Do not exceed this limit or the lower of your vehicle manufacturer's towing rating.
Check that all fasteners are tight and the hitch is securely mounted to the vehicle. The manual recommends checking the hitch frequently to ensure all fasteners and the ball are properly tightened.
The fastener kit 24925F includes: (2) carriage bolts 1/2-13 x 2.00 GR5, (2) spacers .250 x 1 x 3 (part #3022), (2) conical washers 1/2" (part #01292008), (2) hex nuts 1/2-13 GR2, (4) bolts M8 x 1.25 x 40 CL8.8, (4) round-hole spacers .250 x 1 x 1.5 (part #4294), (4) conical washers 3/8" (part #01292006), and (2) pull wires 1/2-13 (part #5482).
No. The manual explicitly states: DO NOT cut, weld or modify this receiver. Doing so may compromise the structural integrity and safety of the hitch.
The hitch is installed over the exhaust, and the exhaust hanger must be lowered temporarily during installation. The manual notes that the edge of the heat shield may need to be bent if needed. After installation, the exhaust hangers are reinstalled in their original position.
The average installation time for professional installers is 1 hour. If you do not feel comfortable performing this installation on your own or need assistance, the manual recommends contacting a professional installer.
The reverse fishwire method involves feeding the carriage bolt and spacer through slots on the bottom of the frame rails. Pull wires (included in the fastener kit) are used to guide these components through the slots and are left attached until the hitch is positioned, at which point they are removed.
Tape (4) 1/4" spacers on the forward side of the hitch brackets and align the hole in each spacer with the slot in the hitch. These spacers are part number 4294 (round-hole spacers .250 x 1 x 1.5).
After feeding the carriage bolt through the frame rail slot and raising the hitch into position, loosely install the 1/2" conical washer and hex nut onto the carriage bolt. Do not fully tighten until step 5, when all fasteners are torqued to specification.
Loosely install (4) M8 bolts and (4) 3/8" conical washers into the existing lower bumper mounting weldnuts. The conical washer teeth side must be against the hitch. These are then torqued to 20 Lb.-Ft. (27 N·M) in step 5.
All 1/2" GR5 fasteners must be torqued to 75 Lb.-Ft. (102 N·M) using a torque wrench.
All M8 CL8.8 fasteners must be torqued to 20 Lb.-Ft. (27 N·M) using a torque wrench.
Locate the center of the bottom fascia and trim a 2.5" tall by 3.0" wide area. The manual provides different trim dimensions for GTI models (2.5" tall by 3.0" wide) and TSI/TDI models (2.5" tall by 3.0" wide), as shown in Figure 3.
Return the (4) M8 factory bolts removed from the lower portion of the bumper beam to the vehicle owner.
Use a support or bungee cord to keep the muffler from getting damaged while it is temporarily lowered during installation.
Use a T10 Torx bit socket to remove (2) plastic screws and (2) tabs from the bottom of the lower fascia. Additionally, use plastic trim tools or a flat head screwdriver to unclip all tabs behind the lower fascia.
Follow these steps in order: (1) Remove lower fascia, (2) Lower exhaust hanger, (3) Remove lower bumper bolts, (4) Install hitch using reverse fishwire method, (5) Tighten all fasteners to specification, (6) Trim lower fascia, (7) Reinstall exhaust hangers, fasteners, and lower fascia.
If excess sway occurs, take your foot off the gas pedal and hold the steering wheel as steady as possible. DO NOT apply your brakes and DO NOT speed up.
Load the trailer heavier in front. This helps maintain proper weight distribution and stability while towing.
Always wear safety glasses when installing the hitch. Observe safety precautions when working beneath a vehicle and wear eye protection. Do not cut access or attachment holes with a torch.
If the hitch is removed, plug all holes in the trunk pan or other body panels to prevent entry of water and exhaust fumes.
A hitch or ball which has been damaged should be removed and replaced. Do not attempt to repair a damaged hitch.
The authorized drawbar kit is part number 3593 (sold separately). The drawbar must be used in the RISE position only.

The M8 bolts are M8 x 1.25 x 40 CL8.8, with a quantity of (4). They are torqued to 20 Lb.-Ft. (27 N·M).
Two types of conical washers are used: (2) conical washers 1/2" (part #01292008) for the carriage bolts, and (4) conical washers 3/8" (part #01292006) for the M8 bolts. The conical washer teeth side must be positioned against the hitch.
Two types of spacers are used: (2) spacers .250 x 1 x 3 (part #3022) for the carriage bolts, and (4) round-hole spacers .250 x 1 x 1.5 (part #4294) for the hitch brackets. The round-hole spacers are taped to the forward side of the hitch brackets.
The pull wires (part #5482, quantity 2) are used with the reverse fishwire method to guide the carriage bolts and spacers through the slots in the frame rails. The pull wires are left attached after feeding the bolts through the slots, then removed after the hitch is raised into position and the pull wires are fed through holes in the hitch.
All fasteners should be loosely installed during steps 4(d) and 4(e). They are then fully torqued to specification in step 5 using a torque wrench: M8 CL8.8 fasteners to 20 Lb.-Ft. (27 N·M) and 1/2" GR5 fasteners to 75 Lb.-Ft. (102 N·M).
Bend the edge of the heat shield if needed during step 4(d) when installing the conical washer and hex nut on the carriage bolt.
Check the hitch frequently, making sure all fasteners and the ball are properly tightened. Proper torque is needed to keep the hitch secure to the vehicle when towing.
This product complies with safety specifications and requirements for connecting devices and towing systems of the state of New York, V.E.S.C. Regulation V-5 and SAE J684.
If the hitch does not fit properly over the exhaust, bend the edge of the heat shield as needed during step 4(d). Ensure the exhaust hanger has been properly lowered in step 2 and is supported with a bungee cord to prevent damage.
Check all fasteners frequently and retighten them if loose. Proper torque is needed to keep the hitch secure to the vehicle when towing. Use a torque wrench to ensure M8 CL8.8 fasteners are torqued to 20 Lb.-Ft. (27 N·M) and 1/2" GR5 fasteners are torqued to 75 Lb.-Ft. (102 N·M).
