Draw-Tite has designed custom-fit trailer hitches since 1946 and is one of North America's most widely fitted hitch brands. Receiver hitches use solid all-welded construction and low-profile designs that follow modern vehicle contours, install with minimal bumper cutting or drilling, meet or exceed V5 CSA and SAE J684 standards, and carry a limited lifetime warranty.
Draw-Tite has been leading custom-fit trailer hitch design and engineering since its founding in 1946, and it remains one of the most widely fitted hitch brands in North America. The company's stated approach is straightforward: every hitch is tested rigorously so that it performs well beyond published industry standards, a philosophy it markets as Tested Tough. It sits within the Horizon Global towing group alongside Reese, Fulton, Bulldog, Tekonsha, Bargman and Wesbar.
Custom fit is the defining characteristic. Rather than adapting a universal design, Draw-Tite engineers a trailer hitch for a specific make, model and model year, so it bolts to existing frame locations with minimal bumper cutting or drilling. Low-profile designs follow the rear contours and aerodynamic styling of modern vehicles, which matters more than it once did now that rear fascias are shaped and sensor-equipped. Construction is solid all-welded steel for maximum strength, and every hitch meets or exceeds V5 CSA and SAE J684 standards and is backed by a nationwide limited lifetime warranty.
The range spans receiver sizes and classes to suit different loads, from 1-1/4 inch receivers for bike racks, cargo carriers and light trailers up through 2 inch receivers for heavier towing. Front mount hitches add a receiver at the front of the vehicle for winch mounts, snow plows, spare carriers and precise trailer positioning.
The Hidden Hitch series takes concealment further by mounting behind the vehicle's rear fascia, so the vehicle keeps its factory appearance until a removable receiver is fitted. Each is custom designed per make and model for a no-drill installation that does not compromise ground clearance, rated for up to 3,500 pounds gross trailer weight and 350 pounds tongue weight. Matching plug-and-play wiring completes the towing system.

Yes, part number 24966 fits 2016–current Toyota Prius models. It also fits 2017–current Toyota Prius Prime. Visit www.horizonglobal.com for the most up-to-date information regarding specific application years and trim levels.
The maximum gross trailer weight is 2000 lb (908 kg) and the maximum tongue weight is 200 lb (90.8 kg). Do not exceed the lower of your vehicle manufacturer's towing rating or these limits.
Required tools: 12 mm socket, torque wrench, ratchet, 3-inch socket extension, Phillips head screwdriver, flat head screwdriver, plastic trim tools, utility knife, tape measure, marker, adjustable wrench, and safety glasses. The manual lists these as equipment required for installation.
You must remove the bumper beam (not the entire bumper assembly). The bumper beam is held by 8 M8 bolts (4 per side) that attach to the end panel. After removing these bolts, you will also need to remove the lower fascia and 3 plastic underbody panels to access the installation area.
Yes. Step 4 requires you to bend the tabs on the back of the bumper beam up approximately 15 degrees using an adjustable wrench. This is a permanent modification to accommodate the hitch installation.
No drilling is required. The hitch aligns with existing weldnuts in the end panel. However, you must trim the center underbody panel using a utility knife, tape measure, and marker. The manual specifies measurements of 5-1/4" and 4-1/2" for this trim (see Figure 5).
All 8 M8 bolts must be tightened to 20 Lb.-Ft. (27 N·M) using a torque wrench. The bolts are first reinstalled loosely, then tightened to this specification in step 7. Proper torque is essential to keep the hitch secure to the vehicle when towing.
The main difference is fascia removal. On 2016–2018 models, remove 2 Phillips screws from the lower fascia and 5 wiring clips. On 2019+ models, remove plastic rivets from wheel wells, open the liftgate to remove Phillips screws and a 10 mm bolt, and disconnect an electrical connector near the middle of the fascia. All other steps (underbody panel removal, bumper beam removal and modification, hitch installation, and underbody panel trimming) are identical.
You will remove and reinstall 8 M8 bolts (4 per side) that attach the bumper beam to the end panel. Additionally, you will remove 14 plastic push-type rivets and 3 threaded panel fasteners from the underbody panels, and 2 Phillips screws from the lower fascia (2016–2018) or equivalent fasteners on 2019+ models. All existing fasteners are reused.
The manual does not require battery disconnection. However, on 2019+ models, you must disconnect an electrical connector near the middle of the fascia during removal and reconnect it during reinstallation.
Always wear safety glasses when installing the hitch. Observe safety precautions when working beneath a vehicle. Do not cut access or attachment holes with a torch. If the hitch is removed, plug all holes in the trunk pan or other body panels to prevent entry of water and exhaust fumes.
Check that all fasteners and the ball are properly tightened. The manual recommends checking the hitch frequently to ensure all fasteners remain tight and the hitch is securely mounted to the vehicle. If the hitch is damaged, it should be removed and replaced.
The manual states to check the hitch frequently, making sure all fasteners and the ball are properly tightened. No specific interval is provided, but regular inspection is emphasized as important for safe towing.
No. The manual explicitly states: "DO NOT cut, weld or modify this receiver." Additionally, do not cut access or attachment holes with a torch.
The average installation time for professional installers is 45 minutes. If you do not feel comfortable performing the installation on your own or need assistance, contact a professional installer.
If excess sway occurs, take your foot off the gas pedal and hold the steering wheel as steady as possible. Do not apply your brakes and do not speed up. Always slow down when towing and never exceed any posted speed limit.
Load the trailer heavier in front. This helps maintain proper weight distribution and stability while towing.
Yes, it fits 2016–current Prius and 2017–current Prius Prime. Check www.horizonglobal.com for your specific trim level.
Maximum 2000 lb gross trailer weight and 200 lb tongue weight. Do not exceed your vehicle manufacturer's rating.
Yes. You must tighten all 8 M8 bolts to 20 Lb.-Ft. (27 N·M) using a torque wrench.
No drilling required. The hitch uses existing weldnuts in the end panel. You must trim the center underbody panel with a utility knife.
You must remove the bumper beam (8 M8 bolts), lower fascia, and 3 underbody panels. The entire bumper assembly does not need to be removed.
Always wear safety glasses. Observe safety precautions when working beneath the vehicle. Do not use a torch to cut holes.
Check the hitch frequently to ensure all fasteners remain tight. If any fasteners are loose, retighten them to 20 Lb.-Ft. (27 N·M) using a torque wrench. Loose fasteners can compromise the security of the hitch during towing.
A hitch or ball which has been damaged should be removed and replaced. Do not attempt to repair a damaged hitch or ball.
If the hitch is removed, plug all holes in the trunk pan or other body panels to prevent entry of water and exhaust fumes. If water or exhaust fumes have already entered, inspect the holes and seal them with appropriate plugs or covers.
