These dependable custom hitches are manufactured for 2017-2017 Volkswagen Golf Alltrack, 2015-2019 Volkswagen Golf SportWagen and attach to your vehicle?s frame or bumper for a sleek, clean appearance. DRAW-TITE Class 1 custom trailer hitches come complete with all the mounting hardware needed for installation and are backed by a nationwide lifetime limited warranty. So, whether you are headed out to the campground and need a place for the cooler, taking the bikes to hit the trails in the park, or you are tackling a DIY project (maybe some landscaping or a home repair), choose DRAW-TITE and travel with confidence knowing your setup is connected with the security only DRAW-TITE can provide. DRAW-TITE: North America?s Favorite Hitch.

Draw-Tite has designed custom-fit trailer hitches since 1946 and is one of North America's most widely fitted hitch brands. Receiver hitches use solid all-welded construction and low-profile designs that follow modern vehicle contours, install with minimal bumper cutting or drilling, meet or exceed V5 CSA and SAE J684 standards, and carry a limited lifetime warranty.
Draw-Tite has been leading custom-fit trailer hitch design and engineering since its founding in 1946, and it remains one of the most widely fitted hitch brands in North America. The company's stated approach is straightforward: every hitch is tested rigorously so that it performs well beyond published industry standards, a philosophy it markets as Tested Tough. It sits within the Horizon Global towing group alongside Reese, Fulton, Bulldog, Tekonsha, Bargman and Wesbar.
Custom fit is the defining characteristic. Rather than adapting a universal design, Draw-Tite engineers a trailer hitch for a specific make, model and model year, so it bolts to existing frame locations with minimal bumper cutting or drilling. Low-profile designs follow the rear contours and aerodynamic styling of modern vehicles, which matters more than it once did now that rear fascias are shaped and sensor-equipped. Construction is solid all-welded steel for maximum strength, and every hitch meets or exceeds V5 CSA and SAE J684 standards and is backed by a nationwide limited lifetime warranty.
The range spans receiver sizes and classes to suit different loads, from 1-1/4 inch receivers for bike racks, cargo carriers and light trailers up through 2 inch receivers for heavier towing. Front mount hitches add a receiver at the front of the vehicle for winch mounts, snow plows, spare carriers and precise trailer positioning.
The Hidden Hitch series takes concealment further by mounting behind the vehicle's rear fascia, so the vehicle keeps its factory appearance until a removable receiver is fitted. Each is custom designed per make and model for a no-drill installation that does not compromise ground clearance, rated for up to 3,500 pounds gross trailer weight and 350 pounds tongue weight. Matching plug-and-play wiring completes the towing system.

Yes, part numbers 24949, 77949, and CQT24949 are designed for 2015-current Volkswagen Golf and Sportwagen models. Visit the manufacturer's website for the most up-to-date information regarding specific application years and trim levels.
The 24949 is a weight-carrying hitch with a maximum gross trailer weight of 2000 lb. (908 kg) and a maximum tongue weight of 200 lb. (90 kg). Do not exceed the lower of your towing vehicle manufacturer's rating or these limits.
Required tools include: ratchet, torque wrench, safety glasses, sockets (10 mm, 13 mm, 6'' socket extension), Torx bits (T15, T20), plastic trim tools, utility knife, marker or tape, hammer, tape measure, flat-head screwdriver, pliers, and a die grinder or equivalent cutting tool. Safety glasses must always be worn during installation.
Fastener kit 24949F includes: 7 bolts (M8x1.25x30 CL8.8) and 7 conical washers (3/8''). The conical washers must be installed with the teeth side against the hitch.
Yes. Step 5 of the installation requires removing the bumper by removing 7 bolts (M13 socket and socket extension). The bumper is then reinstalled over the hitch after the hitch is secured with fasteners.
Yes. Step 1 requires opening the tailgate, removing panels on each side to access tail light wiring, disconnecting the wiring (push red connector), removing the plastic retaining screw with pliers, and pushing the tail light rearward to remove it. Both sides must be removed and secured in a safe location.
Yes. The rear fascia must be removed to access the hitch mounting area. This involves removing the appearance panel, bolts from the wheel well, and carefully unclipping and removing the fascia. The fascia is then trimmed and reinstalled after the hitch is mounted.
Yes. Step 9 requires trimming the rear fascia. From the edge of the fascia opening, measure and mark 3/4'' (19.05 mm) over, then measure 2-1/2'' (63.5 mm) across and 1-1/4'' (31.75 mm) down. Carefully trim the fascia as shown in the installation diagram. A die grinder or equivalent cutting tool is recommended.
No drilling is required. The hitch uses existing weld nuts on the end panels. Step 6 (optional) involves running a bolt through an existing weld nut from the forward side of the end panel to support the hitch during installation.
All M8 CL8.8 fasteners must be tightened with a torque wrench to 20 Lb.-Ft. (27 N·M). Proper torque is essential to keep the hitch securely mounted to the vehicle when towing.
The installation sequence is: (1) Remove tail lights; (2) Remove appearance panel; (3) Remove bolts from wheel well and fascia; (4) Remove rear fascia; (5) Remove bumper; (6) Optional—install support bolts; (7) Install hitch and bumper; (8) Tighten all M8 CL8.8 fasteners to 20 Lb.-Ft. (27 N·M); (9) Trim fascia; (10) Reinstall fascia and all fasteners in reverse order. Installation time is approximately 60 minutes for professional installers.
The conical washers (item 2) must be installed with the teeth side against the hitch. They are used with the M8 CL8.8 bolts (item 1) when securing the hitch and bumper.
If the tab on the bumper interferes with installation, use a hammer to bend the tab flush with the bumper. This may be necessary to allow proper alignment and installation of the hitch.
After the hitch is secured with several fasteners to support it, remove the temporary support bolt used in step 6 and install it properly. Then center the hitch on the vehicle and tighten all fasteners to the specified torque of 20 Lb.-Ft. (27 N·M).
After installation, check that the hitch is securely mounted and all fasteners are tight. The manual recommends checking the hitch frequently to ensure all fasteners and ball are properly tightened. If the hitch is removed, plug all holes in the trunk pan or other body panels to prevent entry of water and exhaust fumes.
Always wear your seatbelt. Load the trailer heavier in front. Slow down when towing and never exceed any posted speed limit. If excess sway occurs, take your foot off the gas pedal and hold the steering wheel as steady as possible. Do not apply your brakes and do not speed up. Always read and follow all warnings and instructions for your vehicle and other accessories used with the hitch before use.
The maximum tongue weight is 200 lb. (90 kg). Do not exceed the lower of your towing vehicle manufacturer's rating or this limit.
No. The manual explicitly states: 'DO NOT cut, weld or modify this receiver.' Modifications are not permitted and will void the warranty and compromise safety.
Yes. Authorized drawbar kit 3590 is available and sold separately. The drawbar must be used in the RISE position only.

Yes, the T-One® T-Connector (118730-037) is designed for the Volkswagen Golf Sportwagen. The installation instructions are specific to this vehicle model.
The T-One® T-Connector is a wiring harness that connects to your vehicle's taillight connectors and battery to provide a 4-flat trailer connector for towing. It uses T-Connector ends with colour-coded wires (yellow and green) that tap into the vehicle's existing taillight wiring on both driver and passenger sides.
You will need a drill with a 3/32" bit, safety glasses, and a screwdriver. The manual also recommends having a test light or trailer available to verify the installation after completion. All fasteners, connectors, cable ties, and the fuse holder are supplied with the product.
Yes. Step 8 requires you to disconnect the vehicle's negative (−) battery cable before connecting the fuse holder to the positive battery cable. This is a critical safety step.
You must open the rear tailgate and remove the threshold, trunk floor panels, and trays (step 1). You must also partially remove the rear interior trim panels on both the driver and passenger sides by removing several trim panel fasteners (step 2). Set all removed items aside carefully to avoid damage.
Yes. Step 5 requires drilling a 3/32" hole on the driver's side near the taillight connectors to secure the white grounding wire with an eyelet and screw. Before drilling, you must verify what is behind the surface to avoid damage to the vehicle or personal injury. Do not drill into any exposed surfaces.
On the driver's side, separate the vehicle's taillight wiring connectors carefully without breaking the locking tabs. Insert the T-One® T-Connector end with the yellow wire between the vehicle connectors and lock it into place. Ensure all connector surfaces are clean and free of dirt. Repeat this process on the passenger's side using the T-One® T-Connector with the green wire, routing it below the threshold cover to the passenger's side taillight housing.
Locate a flat surface in an out-of-the-way place inside the vehicle and mount the black box module there. This placement prevents damage and rattling during vehicle operation.
From inside the vehicle, connect the black 12 ga. wire from the T-One® black box module to the supplied yellow butt connector. Then route the black wire either through a grommet and along the exterior frame, or follow the existing wiring along the thresholds into the engine compartment up to the battery. Avoid areas that may pinch or break the wire. If routing externally, be careful to avoid hot pipes, heat shields, the fuel tank, and other pinch points.
Step 8 requires: (1) Disconnect the vehicle's negative (−) battery cable. (2) Remove the fuse from the yellow fuse holder if not already removed. (3) Cut the fuse holder wire and attach the ring terminal to the vehicle's positive (+) battery cable. (4) Connect the other end of the fuse holder to the black 12 ga. wire using the supplied yellow butt connector. All connections must be complete for the T-One® T-Connector to function properly.
Use the supplied cable ties to secure the remainder of the harness, being careful to avoid any areas that would pinch, cut, or melt the wire. This prevents damage and rattling during vehicle operation.
After installation is complete, test and verify the installation with a test light or trailer. For the initial test, reset the vehicle's electrical system by temporarily removing the key from the ignition. This ensures all connections are working properly before towing.
Do not exceed the lower of the towing manufacturer rating (as stated in your vehicle owner's manual) or the specific amperage ratings stated on the product. Overloading circuits can cause fires. Refer to the product label and your vehicle's owner's manual for the exact amperage specification.
Store the 4-flat connector in the rear cargo area when not in use.
No. You only need to partially remove the rear interior trim panels on both the driver and passenger sides. Several trim panel fasteners will need to be removed to access the taillight connectors, but you do not need to remove the panels completely.
After the installation is complete, reinstall the plastic trim panels, threshold, storage covers, floor covering, and other items that were removed during installation. Be careful not to pinch or cut the wires when reinstalling these components.
Always wear safety glasses during installation. Before drilling, verify what is behind any surface to avoid damage to the vehicle or personal injury. Do not drill into exposed surfaces. When routing wires, avoid hot pipes, heat shields, the fuel tank, and other areas that may pinch or break the wire. Read and follow all warnings and instructions printed on the vehicle's battery before making electrical connections.
Yes, the T-One® T-Connector (118730-037) is designed specifically for the Volkswagen Golf Sportwagen.
Yes, you must disconnect the vehicle's negative (−) battery cable before connecting the fuse holder to the positive battery cable in step 8.
