The LoadLifter 5000 Ultimate is an adjustable air helper spring kit designed to provide load-leveling support for vehicles. It uses reinforced, commercial-grade convolute bellows (single or double depending on the kit) manufactured with layers of rubber and cords. The kit provides up to 5,000 lbs. of load-leveling support with air adjustability from 5–100 PSI. An internal jounce bumper inside each spring absorbs shock and eliminates harsh jarring on rough roads, and allows the air springs to safely run at zero air pressure.
Kit 88240 is recommended for most 3/4 and 1 ton pickups and SUVs with leaf springs. The kits are also used in motor home rear applications and various front applications where leaf springs are used. Consult the manual or Air Lift Company at (800) 248-0892 to confirm fitment for your specific vehicle model and year.
Required tools include: standard open-end or box-end wrenches, ratchet with standard sockets, drill with 5/16" and 1/2" drill bits, torque wrench, hose cutter or razor blade or sharp knife, safety glasses, air compressor or compressed air source, and a spray bottle with dish soap/water solution (for leak testing).

Yes. Before the air spring assemblies can be installed, you must remove the jounce bumpers from under the frame on both sides. Keep the right-side OEM bolt—it will be reused to attach the spacer (part 11084) to the frame on the right side where the jounce bumper was mounted.
The two 3/8" hex cap screws (F) that attach the upper bracket to the air springs should be torqued to 20 lb.-ft. (27 Nm). The two 3/8" flat head screws (E) that attach the lower bracket to the air springs should also be torqued to 20 lb.-ft. (27 Nm).
Install the 90-degree swivel fitting (I) onto the air springs (D) finger tight plus one and a half turns. Do not over tighten.
The 1/2" hex cap screws (L) that attach the upper bracket to the frame should be torqued to 90 lb.-ft. (122 Nm). These fasteners are used when existing holes in the frame align with the upper bracket slot.
The carriage bolt mounting hardware (K) on the lower bracket should be torqued to 16 lb.-ft. (22 Nm). These bolts are left loose initially and tightened only after the upper bracket hardware is tight and the lower bracket is adjusted so the air spring is parallel between the upper and lower brackets.
Drilling may be required. Some vehicles have existing holes in the frame that the upper bracket lines up to for mounting. If your vehicle has these existing holes, no drilling is needed. If there are no existing holes, you must drill a 1/2" hole through the frame using the center of the slot in the upper bracket as a guide. Before drilling, check the back-side of the frame for clearance issues with brake lines, gas lines, and electrical lines. Any obstacles must be temporarily relocated to clear the area.
Drill a 5/16" (8 mm) hole for each Schrader valve location. The manual states "drill a 5/16" (8mm) hole, if necessary," indicating that drilling may not be needed if suitable existing holes are available.
Only if necessary. Some late-model vehicles have longer Hauk fasteners that may interfere with the upper bracket and prevent it from contacting the frame. If the fastener hits the upper bracket, use a hacksaw or grinder to trim just enough of the fastener end so that the upper bracket contacts the frame properly.
Use zip ties to secure the air line to fixed points along the chassis. Do not pinch or kink the air line. The minimum bend radius for the air line is 1" (25 mm). Leave at least 2" (50 mm) of slack in the air line to allow for any movement that might pull on the air line. Keep at least 6" (150 mm) of clearance between all air lines and the exhaust system, and avoid sharp bends and edges.
Cut the air line in half using a razor blade or hose cutter, making clean, square cuts. Do not use scissors or wire cutters, as these will damage the air line.
The manual suggests three common locations for Schrader valves: (A) inside the fuel tank filler door, (B) inside rear wheel wells, or (C) license plate or rear bumper area. Choose a location that provides convenient access for checking and adjusting air pressure.
The maximum air pressure is 100 PSI (7 BAR). Never inflate beyond 100 PSI. Although the air springs are rated at this maximum, the actual air pressure needed is dependent on load and gross vehicle weight rating.
The minimum recommended pressure is 5 PSI (0.34 BAR). The air springs have an internal jounce bumper that allows them to safely run at zero air pressure if needed.
Use a soapy water solution to check all air line connections and the inflation valve core before deflating and removing the air spring. This will help you identify the source of the leak. All leaks must be eliminated before the vehicle is road tested.

Perform the following checks in order: (1) Clearance test—inflate to 40–60 PSI and verify at least 1/2" (13 mm) clearance from tire, brakes, frame, shock absorbers and brake cables. (2) Leak test—inflate to 40–60 PSI and check all connections for leaks. (3) Heat test—verify at least 6" (152 mm) clearance from heat sources; install heat shield if included. (4) Fastener test—recheck all bolts for proper torque. (5) Road test—drive 10 miles (16 km) and recheck for clearance, loose fasteners and air leaks.
Check air pressure weekly. Always maintain normal ride height and never inflate beyond 100 PSI (7 BAR).
