The LoadLifter 5000 Series is an air spring suspension support system that provides up to 5,000 pounds (2,268 kg) of load-leveling support. The air springs are manufactured with reinforced, commercial-grade convolute bellows with layers of rubber and cords that control growth. The system allows air adjustability from 5 to 100 PSI (0.34 to 7 BAR) to level the vehicle under load.
The LoadLifter 5000 Series kits are designed for multiple Chevrolet, Dodge, Ford and GMC trucks. The three kits differ in material and finish: Standard LoadLifter 5000 (kit 57215) has zinc-plated steel roll plates and black nylon air lines. LoadLifter 5000 Ultimate (kit 88215) has black powder-coated roll plates and black nylon air lines. LoadLifter 5000 Ultimate Plus (kit 89215) has stainless steel roll plates, braided stainless steel air lines, and stainless steel air spring mounting hardware. Air Lift also offers two upgrade kits: 52300 (braided stainless steel air line and fittings) and 52301 (stainless steel roll plates, air spring mounting hardware, braided stainless steel air lines and fittings).
Required tools include: standard and metric open-end or box wrenches (set), adjustable wrench, ratchet, standard and metric regular and deep well sockets (set), 3/8" and 5/16" drill bits (very sharp), heavy-duty drill, center punch, hammer, rubber mallet, torque wrench, hose cutter or razor blade, hoist or floor jacks, two safety stands, safety glasses, air compressor or compressed air source, and a spray bottle with dish soap/water solution.

The air spring must be installed between 5 and 7 inches from both the upper bracket to the lower bracket. It is best to position the upper bracket as high as possible. The upper and lower brackets must be parallel. Failure to mount the air spring at the recommended height can result in the air spring bottoming out.
Yes. You must drill one 3/8" locator hole through the frame at one of the top bolt holes of the upper bracket, then repeat for the opposite side. You must also drill the remaining two holes for the upper bracket. Additionally, you may need to drill a 5/16" (8 mm) hole for the Schrader valve location if one does not already exist. Before drilling the frame, check the back-side for clearance issues with brake lines, gas lines, and electrical lines, and temporarily relocate any obstacles.
Yes, in most cases. The manual states that all four U-bolt ends on each side of the vehicle must be trimmed to prevent bottoming out on the upper bracket. Additionally, if the lower bracket needs to set flat on the leaf spring to achieve the correct 5-7 inch height and the stock U-bolts are too high, it will be necessary to trim the stock U-bolts. Use shorter 2" U-bolts (part 10594) when attaching to frame contact overload springs.
Torque the lower bracket U-bolt nuts to 16 lb.-ft. (22 Nm). This applies whether or not spacers are used.
Torque the upper bracket mounting nuts to 44 lb.-ft. (60 Nm).
Keep at least 6 inches (150 mm) of clearance between all air lines and the exhaust system. Avoid sharp bends and edges. Use zip ties to secure the air line to fixed points along the chassis. Do not pinch or kink the air line. The minimum bend radius for nylon air lines is 1 inch (25 mm). Leave at least 2 inches (50 mm) of slack in the air line to allow for any movement that might pull on the air line. For braided stainless steel air lines, secure every 6 to 8 inches with zip ties. Keep the air line away from fuel lines, brake lines, and electrical wires.
Recommended locations for Schrader valves are: (A) inside the fuel tank filler door, (B) inside rear wheel wells, or (C) license plate or rear bumper area. For LoadLifter 5000 Ultimate Plus kits, the recommended location is the rear bumper area or license plate. Drill a 5/16" (8 mm) hole if necessary.
1. Cut the air line in half with clean, square cuts using a razor blade or hose cutter. Do not use scissors or wire cutters. 2. Use zip ties to secure the air line to fixed points along the chassis without pinching or kinking it. The minimum bend radius is 1 inch (25 mm). Leave at least 2 inches (50 mm) of slack to allow for movement. 3. Install the Schrader valve in the chosen location.

Tighten the air line hex nut finger tight, then use two wrenches to turn one additional flat (1/6 of one full turn). Do not overtighten. The easiest way to tighten the fitting is off the vehicle. Install the Schrader valve in the chosen location. 3. Coil and secure any excess air line in an area where it will not be susceptible to damage. The braided stainless steel air line cannot be trimmed.
The maximum air pressure is 100 PSI (7 BAR). However, the air pressure actually needed is dependent on load and gross vehicle weight rating. Never inflate beyond 100 PSI. Do not exceed the vehicle's maximum gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) or payload rating as indicated by the vehicle manufacturer.
The minimum recommended pressure is 5 PSI (0.34 BAR).
Perform the following checks in order: (1) Clearance test — Inflate to 40-60 PSI and ensure at least 1/2 inch clearance from anything that might rub (tire, brakes, frame, shock absorbers, brake cables). (2) Leak test — Inflate to 40-60 PSI and check all connections for leaks; all leaks must be eliminated before road testing. (3) Heat test — Ensure at least 6 inches clearance from heat sources; install a heat shield if included. (4) Fastener test — Recheck all bolts for proper torque. (5) Road test — Drive 10 miles and recheck for clearance, loose fasteners, and air leaks.

Yes. On 1994 and newer model Dodge 4WD pickups, it is necessary to remove the inner fender well liner by carefully driving the pin through the fasteners with a center punch. These fasteners will be reused along with a special spacer to reattach the liner and provide clearance for the air spring. See page 12 for reinstallation instructions. Additionally, for Dodge trucks with a ditch (horizontal indentation) in the frame, spacers are provided to compensate for the indentation when mounting the upper bracket.
Yes. When installing the upper bracket on an F-250 or F-350, the mounting bolt holes can line up directly over the indent in the frame. This is an acceptable situation and an approved method of installation. Torque the mounting hardware to specifications and do not over torque. Additionally, for 1999 and later Super Duty F-250 and F-350 trucks, remove the bolt that holds the emergency brake cable to the outside of the frame rail and reinstall it with the nut on the inside of the frame rail to prevent rubbing against the air spring. Failure to switch this bolt will cause the air spring to rupture.
1. Set a roll plate (D) on both ends of the air spring (C) with the radiused (rounded) edge toward the air spring so it is seated in both roll plates. 2. Install a 90-degree swivel air fitting finger tight plus 1 1/2 turns only; do not overtighten. 3. Place the upper bracket (A) onto the top of the air spring and roll plate with the legs facing down. 4. Set the air spring on the lower bracket (B) aligning the two holes in the base of the air spring with the two outer slots in the top of the lower bracket. 5. Loosely attach the upper bracket using flat washers (I), lock washers (K), and hex-head screws (O). 6. Loosely attach the lower bracket using flat washers, lock washers, and hex-head bolts with the flange facing the outside (tire side) of the vehicle.
1. Position the upper bracket so that it is parallel with the lower bracket and align the assembly vertically and horizontally. 2. Using the upper bracket as a template, center punch and drill one 3/8" locator hole through the frame at one of the top bolt holes. After achieving proper alignment, repeat for the opposite side. 3. For most vehicles, loosely install a washer-head frame bolt, oversized flat washer, and lock nut. For Dodge trucks with a ditch, loosely install a washer-head frame bolt (N), two upper bracket spacers (L), an oversized flat washer (S), and a lock nut (H). 4. Drill the remaining two holes and install the appropriate hardware. 5. Torque the nuts to 44 lb.-ft. (60 Nm). 6. Align the air spring uniformly between the upper and lower brackets with at least a thumb's width of clearance between the uninflated bag and the frame.
Secure the air spring to the upper and lower brackets using an open-ended 9/16" wrench by tightening the two bolts on the top and the two bolts on the bottom of the air spring assembly. Check bolts and connectors to ensure that all hardware is secure and repeat the process for the other side of the vehicle.
1. Place the spacer between the fender well liner and the fender well at the center hole in the fender well liner (the hole nearest the air spring). 2. Attach using the 1/4" hex-head cap screw (Q), two 10/32" flat washers (S), and 1/4" nylon lock nut (T) provided. Fasten the cap screw with the washer and nut behind the fender well and tighten securely. 3. Replace the remaining fender well liner rivets carefully by pushing them through by hand; they should push through completely. 4. From the opposite side, use a rubber mallet and carefully tap the rivet posts back into the rivets to secure them properly. Repeat for all remaining rivets.

Use a soapy water solution to check all air line connections and the inflation valve core. Apply the soapy water to all connections and look for bubbles, which indicate a leak. Once you have identified the leak location, deflate and remove the air spring to repair or replace the leaking component. Do not operate the vehicle with an active air leak.
Inflate the air springs to 40-60 PSI and check for at least 1/2 inch clearance from anything that might rub, including the tire, brakes, frame, shock absorbers, and brake cables. If clearance is insufficient, reposition the air spring in the slots of the upper and lower brackets to align it uniformly between the brackets. Ensure there is at least a thumb's width of clearance between the uninflated bag and the frame.
Failure to mount the air spring at the recommended height (5-7 inches between upper and lower brackets) can result in the air spring bottoming out. If bottoming occurs, reposition the brackets to achieve the correct spacing. You may need to use optional spacers (P) under the lower bracket to move it up, or trim the stock U-bolts if they are preventing the lower bracket from sitting at the correct height.
On 1999 and later Super Duty F-250 and F-350 trucks, remove the bolt that holds the emergency brake cable to the outside of the frame rail and reinstall it with the nut on the inside of the frame rail. This prevents the cable from rubbing against the air spring. Failure to switch this bolt will cause the air spring to rupture.
