Kit 57552 is designed for Ford SD F-250/F-350 4WD SRW (Single Rear Wheel) models with leaf springs. The kit provides up to 7,500 pounds of load-leveling support. If your truck has dual rear wheels (DRW), a different kit may be required. Contact Air Lift customer service at (800) 248-0892 to confirm your specific model year and configuration.
The kit includes three lower leg adapter options: 3.5" axle (part 11688), 4" axle (part 11690), and Tremor models (part 03911). Select the adapter that matches your vehicle's axle diameter. For Tremor models, use adapter 03911 regardless of axle size. Install the appropriate adapter with a 3/8"-16 x 1" carriage bolt and 3/8" serrated flange lock nut, torqued to 16 lb.-ft. (14 Nm).
The maximum air pressure is 100 PSI (7 BAR). Never inflate beyond this limit. The minimum recommended pressure is 5 PSI (0.34 BAR). The actual pressure needed depends on your load and gross vehicle weight rating. Always maintain normal ride height and do not exceed your vehicle's maximum GVWR or payload rating.
Required tools include: metric and standard open-end box wrenches and sockets, a drill with 5/16" bit, a torque wrench, hex key wrenches, a 9/16" crow's foot adapter, a 9/16" ratchet combo wrench, an adjustable wrench, a hose cutter or sharp knife, a hoist or floor jack, two safety stands, safety glasses, an air compressor or compressed air source, and a spray bottle with dish soap and water solution for leak testing.
The manual does not specify whether the battery must be disconnected. Contact Air Lift customer service at (800) 248-0892 for guidance on this step.
Yes, drilling is required. You must drill a 5/16" (8 mm) hole to install the Schrader valve(s) for the air line system. The manual recommends choosing locations inside the fuel tank filler door, inside rear wheel wells, or in the license plate or rear bumper area. Use a clean, square cut with a razor blade or hose cutter when cutting the air line; do not use scissors or wire cutters.
Yes. As the first step of installing the upper frame brackets, you must unbolt and remove the jounce bumper assembly from under the frame on both sides. The lower bracket cup will later nest on the jounce bumper strike plate (for SRW applications) or the axle (for DRW applications).
The upper frame bracket (D) is installed using M10-1.5 x 35 mm button-head cap screws (N) and must be torqued to 38 lb.-ft. (52 Nm). Ensure the large cut-out on the side of the bracket is inboard of the frame rail and the slotted hole in the center is forward.
The upper air spring bracket (E) is secured to the top of the air springs using 3/8"-24 x 7/8" hex bolts (W), 3/8" lock washers (X), and 3/8" flat washers (R). Torque the hardware to no more than 20 lb.-ft. (27 Nm). Push the brackets as far forward as possible before tightening.
Install the 1/8" NPT x 1/4" PTC swivel 90-degree fitting (V) into the top of the air spring finger-tight, then tighten it an additional one and a half turns. Place a roll plate (J) on top of the air spring. The fitting should point inboard toward the center of the vehicle before the air spring assembly is installed in the vehicle.
The U-bolt (L) is installed around the stock U-bolt/leaf spring assembly and inserted through the topmost holes in the lower bracket main plates. Cap with 3/8" flat washer (R) and 3/8" nylon lock nuts (KK). Snug bolts evenly first, just enough to hold the lower bracket main plate flush against the stock U-bolts, then finish tightening by torqueing to 10 lb.-ft. (14 Nm).
After raising the axle or lowering the body, align the upper frame bracket carriage bolts with the air spring bracket/frame brace holes and cap all carriage bolts with 3/8" serrated flange lock nuts (U). Snug the bolts first, then torque to 31 lb.-ft. (42 Nm).
If using the supplied 5/8" hardware (Z, AA, BB), torque to 150 lb.-ft. (203 Nm). If using the factory fifth wheel hardware that was removed, torque to 180 lb.-ft. (244 Nm). On the driver's (left) side, also torque the M10 serrated flange lock nut on the brace to 37 lb.-ft. (50 Nm).
The lower clamp bars (A) are attached with 3/8" flat washers (R) and nylon lock nuts (KK) and must be evenly torqued to 16 lb.-ft. (22 Nm). For sway bar applications, it is acceptable to tighten the front carriage bolt hardware more than the rear to gain clearance on the sway bar. A 9/16" crow's foot adapter may be necessary to properly torque the hardware.
Yes. On vehicles with a sway bar, you must cut the front carriage bolt just below the nut so it does not contact the sway bar. After cutting, torque the nut to 32 lb.-ft. (43 Nm) on both sides.
First, remove the tree mount from the bottom, left side of the brake line/ABS bracket mounted on the axle. Then zip tie the ABS line to the hard brake line to keep it away from the lower support leg. On the passenger's (right) side, it may be necessary to pull the ABS tree mount out of the top of the bracket and re-attach it to the back hole on the bracket, securing it with a zip tie if necessary. Ensure the brake and ABS lines are not rubbing against the lower bracket carriage bolt.
The axle vent tube must be zip tied to one of the brake soft lines to keep it out of the way of the air spring assembly.
Choose one of three recommended locations: inside the fuel tank filler door, inside the rear wheel wells, or in the license plate or rear bumper area. Drill a 5/16" (8 mm) hole at your chosen location and install the Schrader valve. The valve assembly includes a hex nut, flat washer, star washer, and rubber washer.
Cut the air line in half using a razor blade or hose cutter, making clean, square cuts. Do not use scissors or wire cutters. Use zip ties to secure the air line to fixed points along the chassis without pinching or kinking it. Leave at least 2 inches (51 mm) of slack in the air line to allow for movement. The minimum bend radius for the air line is 1 inch (25 mm). Keep at least 6 inches (152 mm) of clearance between all air lines and the exhaust system.
Maintain at least 6 inches (152 mm) of clearance between all air lines and the exhaust system. If a heat shield was included in the kit, install it. Slide the air line thermal sleeve over the nylon air line where it is closest to the exhaust, and maintain at least 1/2 inch (13 mm) of dead air space between the shield and exhaust. If a heat shield is required but not included, call Air Lift customer service at (800) 248-0892.
Perform the following checks: (1) Clearance test—inflate air springs to 40-60 PSI and verify at least 1/2" clearance from tires, brakes, frame, shock absorbers and brake cables. (2) Leak test—inflate to 40-60 PSI and check all connections for leaks; all leaks must be eliminated before road testing. (3) Heat test—verify at least 6" clearance from heat sources; install heat shield if included. (4) Fastener test—after 500 miles, recheck all bolts for proper torque. (5) Road test—drive 10 miles and recheck for clearance, loose fasteners and leaks.
Check air pressure weekly. Always maintain normal ride height and never inflate beyond 100 PSI (7 BAR). The minimum recommended pressure is 5 PSI (0.34 BAR). The actual pressure needed depends on your load and gross vehicle weight rating.
Use a soapy water solution to check all air line connections and the inflation valve core before deflating and removing the air spring. Identify the source of the leak and repair or replace the affected component. All leaks must be eliminated before the vehicle is road tested.
Do not exceed your vehicle's maximum gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) or payload rating as indicated by the vehicle manufacturer. Although the air springs are rated at a maximum inflation pressure of 100 PSI (7 BAR), the actual pressure needed depends on load and GVWR. Exceeding these limits may damage the vehicle and compromise safety.
