The ARIES 3" Black Steel Bull Bar, Select Dodge, Ram 1500 Brush Guard (Part #BBDRB35-5005) Refer to the included instructions for installation details. Basic hand tools are typically all you need.
The B35-5005 is an ARIES 3" bull bar designed to mount to the front of trucks. It includes a main bull bar, frame mounting brackets, support brackets, and all necessary fasteners (hex bolts, washers, nuts). The installation manual covers trucks with and without factory tow hooks.
Yes. The B35-5005 is designed to work with vehicles that have factory tow hooks. The installation uses the tow hook mounting points: you remove the two hex nuts holding the front of the tow hooks, attach the lower mounting bracket using the previously removed hex bolts, then loosen and slide the bracket behind the rear mounting bolt of the tow hook.
Yes. The B35-5005 can be installed on trucks without tow hooks. In this case, you remove the two hex nuts from the lower factory bumper bolts, insert an upper frame bracket, and secure it with the previously removed hex nuts. The lower frame mounting bracket then attaches to the upper frame bracket.
Required tools are: ratchet, extension, sockets (10mm, 16mm, 18mm, 19mm, 21mm), level, utility knife, trim removal tool, wrenches (16mm, 18mm), and paint pen. You will also need tape. A helper is required to lift the bull bar into place.
The B35-5005 includes: 2 hex bolts M12 1.50mm × 35mm, 4 hex bolts M12 1.75mm × 35mm, 14 flat washers 12mm, 10 lock washers 12mm, 8 hex nuts 12mm, 2 hex bolts 10mm, 2 lock washers 10mm, 4 flat washers 10mm, 2 hex nuts 10mm, 4 button head bolts 5mm, 4 flat washers 5mm, and 2 Nylock hex nuts 5mm.
No. The installation does not require removing the factory bumper. You do need to remove the plastic splash guard attached to the bottom of the front bumper. Depending on your truck model, the splash guard is attached using a combination of two-piece plastic push fasteners, rivets, or hex bolts. Keep all hardware for later reinstallation.
Yes. The manual states "With help, lift the bull bar into place" in Step 4 and again in Step 8 when reinstalling the bull bar after splash guard modification. A helper is needed to safely position the bull bar during installation.
No drilling into the frame or vehicle structure is required. However, you must cut two slots in the plastic splash guard to clear the mounting brackets. The cut areas will be approximately 1/2" wide by 4" long. The exact size will vary depending on your truck's splash guard and bumper cover design. Use a utility knife to make these cuts.
After removing the bull bar, hold the splash guard up to the front bumper and align it with the mounting points. Use a paint pen and tape to mark the locations of the mounting brackets on the splash guard. Then cut two slots large enough to clear the mounting brackets. The cut areas will be approximately 1/2" wide by 4" long, but the exact size will vary due to different splash guard and bumper cover designs.
1. Remove the plastic splash guard from the front bumper and keep all hardware. 2. For vehicles with tow hooks: remove the two hex nuts from the front of the tow hooks, attach the lower mounting bracket using the previously removed hex bolts, then loosen the rear mounting bolt and slide the bracket behind it. For vehicles without tow hooks: remove the two hex nuts from the lower factory bumper bolts and insert an upper frame bracket. 3. Attach the lower frame mounting bracket and support bracket using the specified fasteners. 4. With help, lift the bull bar into place and align the mounting tabs with the inside of the mounting brackets. Secure using 10mm hex bolts and washers. 5. Check that the bull bar is centered and level. 6. Tighten all hardware securing the mounting brackets to the vehicle, but do not tighten the hardware on the bull bar. 7. Mark and cut slots in the splash guard to clear the mounting brackets. 8. Reinstall the splash guard using factory hardware and reinstall the bull bar. 9. Level and adjust the bull bar into the desired position and tighten all hardware.
Do not tighten the hardware on the bull bar until the final step. After securing the bull bar with 10mm hex bolts and washers at the front and rear mounting points, tighten all hardware securing the mounting brackets to the vehicle first. Only after the splash guard is reinstalled and the bull bar is repositioned should you level and adjust the bull bar into the desired position and tighten all hardware.
On the driver side, remove the two hex nuts holding the front of the tow hooks in place. Attach the lower mounting bracket to the bumper bolts using the previously removed hex bolts. Then loosen the rear mounting bolt on the tow hook and slide the slotted end of the mounting bracket behind the bolt. Snug the hardware but do not fully tighten. Repeat on the passenger side.
Starting on the driver side, remove the two hex nuts from the lower factory bumper bolts. Insert one upper frame bracket and secure it with the previously removed hex nuts. Attach the driver side lower frame mounting bracket to the upper frame mounting bracket using 12mm hex nuts, flat washers, and lock washers. Install the non-slotted end of the support bracket to the frame using a 12mm fine thread hex bolt, lock washer, and flat washer. Attach the slotted end to the upper hole on the lower mount using a 10mm hex bolt, flat washer, lock washer, and hex nut. Repeat these steps on the passenger side.
With help, lift the bull bar into place and align the mounting tabs on the bull bar with the inside of the mounting brackets. Secure the bull bar using a 10mm hex bolt and flat washer on the outside and a flat washer, lock washer, and hex nut on the inside for both the front and rear mounting points on each mounting bracket. Repeat on the passenger side. Check that the bull bar is centered and level on the vehicle before final tightening.
After installation, check that the bull bar is centered and level on the vehicle. Level and adjust the bull bar into the desired position and tighten all hardware. The manual recommends that periodic inspections be performed to ensure all mounting hardware remains tight.

Do not use any type of polish or wax that may contain abrasives that could damage the finish. For gloss black finishes, mild soap may be used to clean the product.
