ARIES 4" oval side bars are sleek, strong and custom-fitted to be a highly functional extension of your truck. ARIES 4" oval side bars are made with strong 4" elliptical tubing and are available in two different finish options to allow you full customization. This set of side bars is constructed from high-strength carbon steel for a solid step, and they feature a dual-layer E-coat and semi-gloss black powder coat finish for excellent protection against scratching, chipping and peeling. Something that sets the ARIES 4" oval side bar apart from all others is its blended end caps and OE-style bends. Rather than capping our side bars with a plastic cap, we offer a blended end cap for a smooth, finished appearance. We also equip the ends with a special 20-degree bend and original equipment styling to perfectly contour to your vehicle. ARIES 4" oval side bars are fitted with raised step pads to provide a wide stepping surface. The polypropylene construction will not crack over time, and because it has a textured grip, the surface is highly resistant to slips and skids, even when wet. To add an extra element of class to our oval sides, we also fit each one with a stainless steel insignia bearing the ARIES name. Installation of ARIES 4" oval side bars is quick and easy with custom-fitted mounting brackets and no drilling necessary (NOTE: This set of side bars is compatible with DEF tank models). These nerf bars fit select model years of the Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra 1500, 1500 Classic, 1500 LD, 2500 HD, 2500 HD Classic, 3500 HD and 3500 Classic (see application info to verify fitment).

The installation uses the first, third, and fifth mounting tabs along the bottom edge of the vehicle body. These three tabs are where the three universal mounting brackets are attached.
Locate the threaded hole on the inside of the body panel at the mounting location. Attach the universal mounting bracket using an M8 hex bolt with a lock washer and flat washer. Snug the hardware but do not fully tighten at this stage.
Rotating the bottom of the bracket to the side exposes the hole in the mounting tab, allowing you to slide an M8 clip nut over the mounting tab. After the clip nut is positioned and aligned, rotate the bracket back into position and secure it with a second M8 hex bolt, lock washer, and flat washer.
Locate the fifth mounting tab and remove the rubber plug from the access hole. Insert a clip nut through the access hole and align it over the adjacent small hole. Secure the top of the bracket with an M8 hex bolt, lock washer, and flat washer. Then rotate the bottom of the bracket to the side, slide an M8 clip nut over the mounting tab, rotate the bracket back, and secure the bottom with a second M8 hex bolt, lock washer, and flat washer.
Place the side bar onto the mounting brackets and align the mounting points. Secure the side bar to the brackets using an M10 hex bolt, lock washer, and flat washer at each mounting location. Snug the hardware but do not fully tighten. After leveling the side bar, tighten all brackets to the vehicle first, followed by the side bar connections.
Ensure that all brackets have been installed in the correct locations and that the correct side bar is being used. The driver/left side bar and passenger/right side bar are different and must be installed on their respective sides.
Locate the front mounting point on the passenger side. Place the upper mounting bracket against the rocker panel and align the weld nut on the upper mounting bracket with the mounting hole in the rocker panel. Secure using an M8 hex bolt, M8 lock washer, and M8 flat washer. Align one of the passenger front lower mounting brackets with the upper mounting bracket and secure the two together using an M10 hex bolt, M10 lock washer, and M10 flat washer, torqued to 31.6 ft.-lbs. Repeat this process for the second passenger mounting bracket. Snug all hardware but do not fully tighten initially.
1. Locate the five mounting tabs along the bottom edge of the vehicle body (using tabs 1, 3, and 5). 2. Install universal mounting brackets at the first, third, and fifth mounting tabs on the driver side. 3. Install the rear bracket on the driver side. 4. Place and level the driver-side bar, then tighten all brackets and connections. 5. Install the passenger-side front upper and lower mounting brackets. 6. Install the rear bracket on the passenger side. 7. Place and level the passenger-side bar, then tighten all brackets and connections.
All M10 hardware connecting the upper and lower mounting brackets on the passenger side must be torqued to 31.6 ft.-lbs. This is different from the standard M10 torque specification of 16 ft.-lbs.
Use only mild automotive detergent to clean the product. Do not use dish detergent, abrasive cleaners, abrasive pads, wire brushes, or other similar products that may damage the finish. For polished, gloss and other smooth finishes, polish may be used to clear small scratches and scuffs.
Wax the product after installing and regularly thereafter. Do not use any type of polish or wax that may contain abrasives, as these could damage the finish. Regular waxing is recommended to add a protective layer over the finish.
Periodic inspections should be performed to ensure all mounting hardware remains tight. The manual does not specify an exact interval, but regular checks are recommended as part of vehicle maintenance.
