ARIES 4" oval side bars are sleek, strong and custom-fitted to be a highly functional extension of your truck. ARIES 4" oval side bars are made with strong 4" elliptical tubing and are available in two different finish options to allow for full customization: polished stainless steel and black powder coat carbon steel. This set of side bars is constructed from high-strength carbon steel for a solid step, and they feature a dual-layer E-coat and semi-gloss black powder coat finish for excellent protection against scratching, chipping and peeling. Something that sets the ARIES 4" oval side bar apart from all others is its blended end caps and OE-style bends. Rather than capping our side bars with a plastic cap, we offer a blended end cap for a smooth, finished appearance. We also equip the ends with a special 20-degree bend and original equipment styling to perfectly contour to your vehicle. ARIES 4" oval side bars are fitted with raised step pads to provide a wide stepping surface. The polypropylene construction will not crack over time, and because it has a textured grip, the surface is highly resistant to slips and skids, even when wet. Installation of ARIES 4" oval side bars is quick and easy with custom-fitted mounting brackets and no drilling necessary. These nerf bars fit select model years of the Ram 1500, 1500 Classic, 2500 or 3500 and Dodge Ram 1500, Ram 2500 or Ram 3500 (see application info to verify fitment).

The kit includes two side bars (driver and passenger), four mounting brackets (two front, two rear), eight 8mm hex bolts with flat and lock washers, twelve 10mm hex bolts with flat and lock washers, four 12mm bolts with 10mm nut plates, four 12mm flat washers, four 12mm lock washers, four 12mm hex nuts, and four plastic 12mm bolt retainers.
You will need a torque wrench, 13mm socket, 16mm socket, 18mm socket, utility knife, and a level.
The installation requires cutting and removing tape covering the mounting points using a utility knife. No drilling or welding is required. However, the vehicle must have either factory 8mm threaded inserts or 10mm nut plates at the mounting locations. If your vehicle does not have 8mm threaded inserts, the 10mm nut on the 12mm bolt plate can be aligned with either hole location on the bracket.
Begin on the passenger side. First, locate the two mounting points underneath the vehicle. Cut and remove tape covering the front mounting point, then insert the 12mm bolt and nut plate with a plastic retainer. Secure the front bracket with the top 12mm hardware snug but not fully tight, then secure the bottom with 8mm bolts (or 10mm bolts if no 8mm inserts are present). Repeat for the rear bracket. Place the side bar on the brackets, align the rivet nuts, and secure with 10mm bolts snug but not fully tight. Level the side bar, then tighten all bracket fasteners to the vehicle first, followed by the side bar connections. Repeat the entire process on the driver side.
Do not fully tighten the hardware initially. Snug the front and rear bracket fasteners and the side bar connection bolts, but leave them loose. After leveling the side bar, tighten all bracket fasteners to the vehicle first, then tighten the side bar connections.
First, cut and remove the tape covering the front mounting point using a utility knife. Insert a 12mm bolt and 10mm nut plate into the opening, then slide a plastic bolt retainer over the bolt thread to hold it in place. Secure the top portion of the bracket with a 12mm lock washer, flat washer, and hex nut, snugged but not fully tight. Then secure the bottom of the bracket using two 8mm hex bolts with lock washers and flat washers. If the vehicle does not have 8mm threaded inserts, use a 10mm hex bolt, lock washer, and flat washer instead, aligning the 10mm nut on the 12mm bolt plate with either hole location on the bracket.
Place the side bar onto the mounting brackets and align the mounting points. Ensure the rivet nuts on the bottom of the side bar line up with the brackets. Secure the side bar to the brackets using a 10mm hex bolt, lock washer, and flat washer at each mounting location. Snug the hardware but do not fully tighten until after the side bar has been leveled and all bracket fasteners have been tightened to the vehicle.
After placing the side bar on the mounting brackets and securing it with snug (not fully tight) fasteners, use a level to ensure the side bar is properly aligned and horizontal. Once leveled, tighten all bracket fasteners to the vehicle first, then tighten the side bar connections.
Install one side bar completely before moving to the other. Begin with the passenger side, completing all steps 1 through 7. Then repeat the entire process on the driver side.
The installation uses three sizes of fasteners: 8mm hex bolts (or 10mm hex bolts if 8mm threaded inserts are not available) for the bottom of the front and rear brackets; 12mm bolts with 10mm nut plates for the top of the mounting brackets; and 10mm hex bolts for connecting the side bar to the brackets. All bolts are used with corresponding flat washers and lock washers.
Wax the product after installation to protect the finish. Regular waxing is recommended to add a protective layer. Do not use any polish or wax containing abrasives, as these can damage the finish. For gloss black finishes, mild soap may be used to clean the product. Perform periodic inspections to ensure all mounting hardware remains tight.
