Blue Ox is known internationally for recreational and commercial towing products, manufacturing in Pender, Nebraska since 1925. Blue Ox has manufactured since 1925 and is recognised internationally for towing products and customer service. The company operates from Pender, Nebraska, where it grew out of Automatic Manufacturing Co., a business that started with cattle oilers and developed into agricultural equipment, tractor accessories and trailer towing hardware. Flat towing is the discipline Blue Ox is best known for. Towing a car with all four wheels on the ground behind a motorhome demands a system that stays rigid under braking, articulates properly over uneven ground, and connects to the towed vehicle at points strong enough to take the load. Blue Ox tow bars handle the first two, with self-aligning arms that latch under tension and release without a struggle when the load is off them. Vehicle-specific baseplates handle the third, engineered per make and model to tie into structural mounting points behind the fascia.

Yes, the BX1307 can be installed on vehicles with headlight washers. However, the fluid lines must be disconnected from the fascia and bumper on both sides during installation (steps 3 and 8). Reconnect them after the baseplate installation is complete.

The BX8848 4-Diode Wiring Kit is recommended for the 2010 Mini Cooper Clubman. The BX8869 Tail Light Wiring Kit is recommended for all other BX1307-compatible vehicles. You will need to drill a hole according to the tail light wiring kit instructions.

Yes. The grille and fascia must be removed during installation and reinstalled after the baseplate is installed. The installation notes state that "the grille and fascia are removed and reinstalled for the baseplate installation."
Yes. Drilling and trimming are required. You will drill a 1-1/4" hole through the bumper on both sides (step 8), drill 13/32" holes above the bumper (step 10), drill 13/32" side holes through the bumper (step 11), and drill a hole for the tail light wiring kit. Trimming is also required on the fascia, intake scoops, and gusset areas.
The following modifications are permanent: drilling holes in the bumper (1-1/4", 13/32"), trimming the fascia gusset area, trimming the intake scoops, trimming the area above the intake scoops, and relocating the passenger-side sensor. The 1-1/4" hole used for nut plate access can be optionally covered with tape and paint, but the drilling itself is permanent.
For 3/8" Grade 5 bolts, the torque specification is 33 foot-pounds. For 3/8" Grade 8 bolts, the torque specification is 47 foot-pounds. Always use Loctite Red on all bolt threads before tightening.

Permanent baseplate safety cables are strongly recommended and are included with the BX1307 kit. They must be connected from the baseplate to the frame rail or cross member of the vehicle's frame. However, these cables do not replace legally required safety cables that attach the towed vehicle to the towing vehicle. Both sets of cables are necessary.

The BX1307 kit includes: 8 nut plates with wire (3/8"), 1 baseplate, 2 attachment tab assemblies, 1 breakaway bracket, 2 backing plates, 2 1/4"-20 x 3/4" bolts, 2 #10-32 x 1/2" screws, 8 3/8"-16 x 1-1/4" bolts, 2 8MM-1.25 x 50MM bolts, 2 #12-14 x 1" self-drilling screws, 2 #10-32 hex nuts, 2 1/4"-20 hex nylon nuts, 4 3/8" flat washers, 10 3/8" lock washers, 2 #10 lock washers, 1 electrical bracket, 2 class III safety cables, 2 3/8" quicklinks, and 2 black cap plug receivers.
No. If a bolt is lost or needs replacement, use a replacement bolt of the same grade as the original. In most cases this will be Grade 5. Do not substitute homemade or non-typical parts. Replacement parts may be ordered through your nearest Blue Ox dealer or distributor. Failing to use the correct replacement bolt will void the manufacturer's warranty.
1. Remove the four push pins along the top edge of the grille (two on each side). 2. Gently pull the top of the grille away from the vehicle. 3. Release the tabs below by pushing down on the grille and squeezing each of the four tabs together, starting from one side and working across. 4. Set the grille aside.
1. Remove two T25 Torx screws that were behind the grille. 2. Remove two push pins in each wheel well (both sides). 3. Behind each wheel well cover, remove the lower push pin (left side) and upper push pin (right side). 4. Push each fender flare forward and pull it away from the vehicle, then remove the T25 Torx screw behind each flare (both sides). 5. On the underside of the fascia, remove the T25 Torx screw from each corner and the three push pins along the center. On newer models, also remove three Phillips head screws located under cap plugs along the front edge. 6. Pull the fascia forward, disconnect any electrical connections, and set it aside.
Use a 1-1/4" hole saw to drill through the bumper on both sides, using the existing hole on top of the bumper as a guide. This allows access for installing the nut plates.
1. Hold the baseplate in place and start an 8MM-1.25 x 50MM bolt with a lock washer and two flat washers into the existing hole on both sides. Fully tighten. 2. Using a 13/32" drill bit, drill holes above the bumper on both sides. Install two 3/8"-16 x 1-1/4" bolts with 3/8" lock washers and 3/8" nut plates on the inside of the bumper. Fully tighten. 3. Using a 13/32" drill bit, drill the side holes through the bumper on both sides. Install 3/8"-16 x 1-1/4" bolts with 3/8" lock washers and 3/8" nut plates on the inside. Fully tighten. Use Loctite Red on all bolt threads and tighten to the appropriate torque.
Using a 13MM socket, remove the existing nut from the bumper extension on both sides. Install the backing plate onto the stud and reinstall the nut. Do this on both sides of the vehicle.
1. On the back side of the fascia, trim off the gusset area on both sides. On the passenger side, disconnect the wire loom and trim off the tab. Make a notch and relocate the sensor down lower to clear the baseplate. 2. Trim the area above the intake scoops on both sides. 3. Trim the inner areas on the intake scoops and trim off the attachment arms for baseplate clearance. 4. Hold the fascia as close to its original position, mark and trim around the convenience links and attachment tabs. Depending on the model, trimming of the additional chrome piece across the grille opening may be required.
The breakaway switch installation is listed as optional in step 15. If you choose to install it, mount the breakaway bracket onto the front of the frame above the radiator with 1/4" hardware, bend the switch 90 degrees up, and attach the switch to the bracket using 1/4" hardware.
Yes. Use a good quality paint to spray cut edges of the frame to prevent rusting. This is important for protecting the frame from corrosion.
