Blue Ox is known internationally for recreational and commercial towing products, manufacturing in Pender, Nebraska since 1925. Blue Ox has manufactured since 1925 and is recognised internationally for towing products and customer service. The engine compartment covers, fascia, and belly pan must be removed for installation. Additionally, the grille must be trimmed. Specific fasteners must be removed in sequence: four christmas trees from the top edge of fascia between the headlights, three pushpins from inside each wheel well, two pushpins from the lower edge of each wheel well, two pushpins from the bottom of the fascia on each side, three pushpins and three christmas trees from the belly pan, one pushpin from the back edge of the belly pan on each side, one metric bolt from the fascia corner on each side, and one metric bolt from the horn bracket.
Yes. You must disconnect wiring from the area in front of the frame rail before drilling the mounting holes. Additionally, fog and side marker lights must be disconnected from the fascia corners on both sides of the vehicle.

Permanent baseplate safety cables are strongly recommended when towing a vehicle with a tow bar. Two safety cables (226-0049, 36" Class IV) are included with the kit. The cables must be connected from the baseplate to the frame rail or cross member of the vehicle's frame. They must not be mounted against wires, hoses, or brake lines. These cables should remain installed as long as the baseplate is installed and are to be used in conjunction with, not as a replacement for, legally required safety cables attaching the towed vehicle to the towing vehicle.
It is the installer's responsibility to watch for oil cooler and air conditioner lines, electrical wires and hoses, and missing parts or attaching points on the frame. If the baseplate is improperly installed and is against a wire or hose, it could cause fluid leaks or electrical shorts some time after installation. Permanent baseplate safety cables must not be mounted against wires, hoses, or brake lines.

No. Even though bolts may exist in the vehicle, do not assume they are adequate for baseplate mounting. Always use the hardware supplied in the hardware kit or existing hardware specified in the Baseplate Installation Instructions. Use only genuine factory replacement parts on your baseplate. Do not substitute homemade or non-typical parts.
Use a replacement bolt of the same grade. In most cases it will be Grade 5. Replacement parts may be ordered through your nearest Blue Ox Dealer or Distributor. Do not substitute homemade or non-typical parts, as this could affect the safety and preservation of your baseplate.
Slide the baseplate up so its 1/4" below the top edge of the frame rail and 1/8" away from the nut plate built for the bumper bracket. Use vise grips to clamp the baseplate to the frame rail through the hole in the frame before drilling.
After drilling and mounting the baseplate, reinstall the horn bracket, belly pan, fascia, pushpins, and bolts. Before reinstalling the fascia, ensure that all electrical connections are plugged in properly and functioning. The baseplate is then fully installed.
