Blue Ox is known internationally for recreational and commercial towing products, manufacturing in Pender, Nebraska since 1925. Remove in this order: (1) nine push pins from radiator cover (12 on 2007 models); (2) three push pins from top edge of fascia between headlight assemblies; (3) two push pins from power steering cover on passenger's side; (4) three push pins from top edge of fascia between headlights; (5) metric bolts from edge of fascia forward of front tire with 10MM socket (both sides); (6) metric bolt from corner of fascia forward of front tire with 10MM socket (both sides); (7) three metric bolts from lower edge of fascia forward of front tire with 10MM socket (both sides); (8) two metric bolts from lower edge of fascia below license plate bracket, then pull fascia corner out and forward.
Remove the coolant line clamp and bracket using a 10MM socket (clamp bolt) and 12MM socket (bracket bolt). Mark the ribbing above and on each side of the coolant line. Pull the coolant line down to the frame and cut the webbing from the bottom edge up about 1/2" on both sides. Using a chisel and hammer, bend the webbing back toward the radiator as far as possible. Snap a loop clamp onto the coolant line, lift it to the front side of the cross member, and secure with a #10 x 1" self-drill screw and 1/4" lock washer through the clamp into the cross member on both sides. Ensure the coolant line does not touch the bent webbing.
Place the support plate onto the side of the frame rail to align with the lower threaded hole on the tie-down support just below the frame rail. Install two 1/2" flat washers between the tie-down support and support plate, then partially tighten a 12MM hex bolt, 12MM lock washer, and 1/2" flat washer into the existing threaded hole on both sides (do not tighten completely). Align the hole of the support plate with the existing threaded hole for the coolant line bracket. Partially tighten an 8MM hex bolt and lock washer into the support plate hole while placing three 3/8" flat washers between the support plate and frame on both sides (do not tighten completely).
Place the baseplate on top of the frame rail between the side of the frame and the support plate. Align the holes of the baseplate and support plate, then clamp to the frame with vise grips on both sides. Tighten the 12MM hex bolt with a 19MM socket and the 8MM hex bolt with a 13MM socket on both sides. Using the support plate and baseplate as a template, drill two holes in the side of the frame with a 13/32" drill bit on both sides. Apply Loctite Red to all bolts before tightening. Tighten all bolts according to the torque chart in the General Instruction sheet.
After drilling holes in the end of the frame with a 1 1/4" hole saw (Step 10), insert the nut plates with wire into the drilled holes to align with the drilled holes from the side of the frame. Tighten 3/8-16 x 1 1/2" hex bolts and lock washers into the drilled holes on both sides. Apply Loctite Red to all bolts before tightening. Tighten according to the torque chart in the General Instruction sheet. This procedure is repeated in Step 22 with 3/8-16 x 1 1/4" hex bolts for the remaining holes.
The headlight assemblies and associated brackets must be removed. Pry up the small cover just behind the headlight assembly and remove one metric bolt from under the cover and one on top of the radiator support with a 10MM socket on both sides. Remove three metric bolts from the bracket on the side of the headlight assembly with a 10MM socket on both sides. Remove two metric bolts from the bracket just below the headlight assembly with a 10MM socket on both sides and pull the brace forward. Release the clip just behind the headlight assembly, unplug electrical connections, and pull the headlight assembly forward on both sides. Remove two metric bolts from the bracket just behind the headlight assembly with a 10MM socket on both sides.
The manual states that all bolts must be tightened according to the torque chart in the General Instruction sheet, which is not included in this installation manual. Consult the separate General Instruction sheet provided by Blue Ox for specific torque values. Loctite Red must be applied to all bolts before tightening.

Permanent baseplate safety cables are strongly recommended when towing a vehicle with a tow bar. The BX2908 kit includes 2 safety cables (36" CL III) and 2 quicklinks. The cables must be connected from the baseplate to the frame rail or cross member. They must not be mounted against wires, hoses, or brake lines. Permanent baseplate safety cables must be used in conjunction with, and are NOT a replacement for, legally required safety cables attaching the towed vehicle to the towing vehicle.
It is the installer's responsibility to watch for oil cooler and air conditioner lines, electrical wires, and hoses during installation. Do not mount the baseplate or safety cables against wires, hoses, or brake lines. If the baseplate is improperly installed against a wire or hose, it could cause fluid leaks or electrical shorts some time after installation. Ensure there are no missing parts or attaching points on the frame before installation.
After installation, reinstall all removed components including headlight brackets, headlight assemblies, metal bumper, belly pan, styrofoam, and fascia. Ensure all electrical components are plugged in properly. Inspect all towing equipment for cracked welds, missing or worn parts, and loose bolts.
