Blue Ox is known internationally for recreational and commercial towing products, manufacturing in Pender, Nebraska since 1925. Blue Ox has manufactured since 1925 and is recognised internationally for towing products and customer service. Flat towing is the discipline Blue Ox is best known for. Towing a car with all four wheels on the ground behind a motorhome demands a system that stays rigid under braking, articulates properly over uneven ground, and connects to the towed vehicle at points strong enough to take the load. Blue Ox tow bars handle the first two, with self-aligning arms that latch under tension and release without a struggle when the load is off them. Vehicle-specific baseplates handle the third, engineered per make and model to tie into structural mounting points behind the fascia.

Motorhome mount tow bars are recommended for use with the BX3329. The Acclaim tow bar may be used, but will not fold and store on the front of the vehicle. The RangeFinder II, Adventurer and Ambassador tow bars cannot be used due to the design of the removable tabs.
Most adapters cannot be used with the BX3329 baseplate. Only the BX8833 and BX88151 adapters are compatible. All other adapters are not compatible.

Yes, drilling is required. You will drill three holes on the driver's side and four holes on the passenger's side into the frame using a 13/32" drill bit. The baseplate is used as a template for hole placement.
Trimming is required in several areas: (1) remove tabs from the back corners of the fascia using a utility knife; (2) remove clips from both corners of the fascia support; (3) trim the passenger's side air dam in three specific areas as marked in steps 20-22; (4) trim the driver's side air dam in two areas as marked in steps 23-24; (5) trim necessary openings in the grille style for the attachment tabs on both sides using a hack saw blade.
The manual provides a general torque table for Grade 5 and Grade 8 bolts. For 3/8" Grade 5 bolts, the torque specification is 33 foot-pounds. For 3/8" Grade 8 bolts, the torque specification is 47 foot-pounds. The BX3329 uses Grade 5 bolts (33 foot-pounds) unless otherwise specified. All bolts must be secured with Loctite RED.
The manual provides a general torque table for metric bolts. For a 6MM Grade 8.8 bolt, the torque specification is 8 foot-pounds. The horn bracket is reinstalled using a 6MM-1 x 30MM Grade 8.8 hex bolt with a 1/4" lock washer and 1/4" flat washer.

On the driver's side: (1) align the upper back hole of the baseplate with the existing horn bracket hole and clamp in place with vice grips; (2) drill three remaining holes into the frame using a 13/32" drill bit; (3) install 3/8-16 x 1-1/4" hex bolts with 3/8" lock washers and 3/8-16 hex nuts to the lower two holes; (4) insert a 3/8" nut plate through the opening in the bottom of the frame rail and align to the upper front hole; (5) install a 3/8-16 x 1-1/4" hex bolt with 3/8" lock washer and tighten to the nut plate; (6) reinstall the horn bracket to the upper back hole using a 6MM hex bolt, 1/4" lock washer and 1/4" flat washer; (7) trim excess nut plate wire.
On the passenger's side: (1) align the upper front baseplate hole with the existing air baffle hole and clamp in place with vice grips; (2) drill four holes into the frame using a 13/32" drill bit; (3) insert 3/8" nut plates through the opening in the bottom of the frame rail and align to the upper two holes; (4) install 3/8-16 x 1-1/4" hex bolts with 3/8" lock washers and tighten to the nut plates; (5) install 3/8-16 x 1-1/4" hex bolts with 3/8" lock washers and 3/8-16 hex nuts to the lower two holes; (6) trim excess nut plate wires.
Three trim areas are required on the passenger's side: (1) mark from the back portion of the lip diagonally to the bend and down 3 inches around the contour, then mark straight down from the air dam tab 3 inches and horizontally back to the contour, and trim with a utility knife; (2) just behind the tab, mark 3" down and 2" horizontally, then mark upwards following the contour to the top of the air dam and trim away; (3) on the upper rear, make a 1" horizontal cut level with the opening next to the air dam and trim vertically to remove this portion.
Two trim areas are required on the driver's side: (1) just behind the air dam tab, cut down 3", then cut horizontally toward the rear of the air dam approximately 2", then cut upwards to the top following the contour of the air dam; (2) approximately 1" from the top of the air dam, cut horizontally from the front of the air dam to the back.
Attach the permanent baseplate safety cables to the provided convenience link (quick link) on the baseplate. The cables must be connected from the baseplate to the frame rail or cross member of the vehicle's frame. Do not mount the cables against wires, hoses or brake lines. If the vehicle has additional options that interfere with mounting the cables, secure the cable to a solid piece of the vehicle's frame as described in the instructions included with the permanent baseplate safety cables.
Reinstall all removed components: air dams, air baffle, belly pan, fascia, radiator cover, pushpins and bolts. Then install the tow bar and safety cables according to the instructions provided in their packages. Ensure all electrical connections are plugged in properly and functioning before installing the fascia.
Permanent baseplate safety cables are strongly recommended when towing a vehicle with a tow bar. Their function is to prevent the towed vehicle from breaking loose in the event the connection between the frame and baseplate fails or becomes disconnected. The cables must be connected from the baseplate to the frame rail or cross member. These cables are to be used in conjunction with, and NOT a replacement for, legally required safety cables attaching the towed vehicle to the towing vehicle.
Before each towing trip, inspect all towing equipment for: cracked welds, missing or worn parts, and loose bolts. Ensure all bolts are secured with Loctite RED and tightened to the recommended specifications. Verify that all electrical connections are properly plugged in and functioning.

Replacement parts may be ordered through your nearest Blue Ox Dealer or Distributor. Ensure the replacement bolt is the correct size and grade for safety and preservation of the baseplate.
No. Even though bolts may exist in certain locations, do not assume they are adequate for baseplate mounting. Always use hardware supplied in the hardware kit or existing hardware specified in the Baseplate Installation Instructions. The manual specifies which existing holes (horn bracket hole on driver's side and air baffle hole on passenger's side) are used as alignment points, but new holes must be drilled for the remaining attachment points.
