Blue Ox is known internationally for recreational and commercial towing products, manufacturing in Pender, Nebraska since 1925. Blue Ox has manufactured since 1925 and is recognised internationally for towing products and customer service. Flat towing is the discipline Blue Ox is best known for. Towing a car with all four wheels on the ground behind a motorhome demands a system that stays rigid under braking, articulates properly over uneven ground, and connects to the towed vehicle at points strong enough to take the load. Blue Ox tow bars handle the first two, with self-aligning arms that latch under tension and release without a struggle when the load is off them. Vehicle-specific baseplates handle the third, engineered per make and model to tie into structural mounting points behind the fascia.

During installation, the following components are removed and reinstalled: four plastic push pins from the top of the fascia, two screws from the wheel well, two push pins from the wheel well (one per side), two metric bolts from the fascia's upper corners (one per side), six metric bolts from the lower edge of the fascia, two push pins from beside the headlights (one per side), three metric bolts from the washer reservoir (passenger side), one screw between the grill and radiator, the fascia, styrofoam, and the washer reservoir.

Yes. Permanent baseplate safety cables are strongly recommended when towing with the BX3775. The cables must be connected from the baseplate to the frame rail or cross member of the vehicle's frame. The kit includes 2 x 36" Class IV baseplate safety cables (226-0049) and 4 x 1/2" quick links (229-0512). The cables must wrap around the lower frame extension twice, or as close as possible. If unable to position them there, position them around a solid piece of the frame. Ensure the safety cables do not rub against any hoses or moving parts. These permanent baseplate safety cables are to be used in conjunction with, and NOT a replacement for, legally required safety cables attaching the towed vehicle to the towing vehicle.
The baseplate installer must watch for oil cooler and air conditioner lines, electrical wires, and hoses during installation. Do not mount the permanent baseplate safety cables against wires, hoses, or brake lines. If the baseplate is improperly installed and is against a wire or hose, it could cause fluid leaks or electrical shorts some time after the actual baseplate installation. After installation, ensure that safety cables do not rub against any hoses or moving parts.

No. The manual states: "Even though bolts are there, do not assume they are adequate for baseplate mounting. Always use hardware supplied in the hardware kit or existing hardware specified in the Baseplate Towing Installation Instructions." You must use the hardware supplied in the BX3775 kit. If a bolt is lost or needs replacement, use a replacement bolt of the same grade (in most cases Grade 5). Replacement parts may be ordered through your nearest Blue Ox Dealer or Distributor.
The installation sequence is: (1) Remove four plastic push pins from the fascia top. (2) Remove two screws from the wheel well and two push pins from the wheel well (one per side). (3) Remove one metric bolt from inside each front wheel well. (4) Remove six metric bolts from the lower edge of the fascia. (5) Remove two push pins from beside the headlights. (6) Remove one screw between the grill and radiator, then pull the fascia forward. (7) Remove three metric bolts from the washer reservoir and unplug it. (8) Drill 1 1/4" holes on both sides below the stud. (9) Slide the baseplate up from the bottom, level it, and clamp with a vise grip. Align the passenger side with the existing hole in the frame. Install bolts and drill the remaining holes with a 13/32" drill bit. (10) Reinstall the washer reservoir with the 6MM bolt and washers. (11) Attach baseplate safety cables around the lower frame extension. (12) Spray cut frame edges with paint. (13) Reinstall the styrofoam, bumper, fascia, bolts, and push pins. All bolts must be treated with Loctite RED and tightened to the specified torque.
Slide the baseplate straight up from the bottom and push up as far as possible. Adjust it to a level position with the vehicle and clamp it with a vise grip. Align the passenger's side with the existing hole in the frame for the washer reservoir. The baseplate should be level before drilling the remaining mounting holes.
The baseplate is mounted using: (1) Two 3/8-16 x 1 1/4" hex bolts Grade 5 (201-0368) with 3/8" lock washers (203-0010) attached to 1/4" x 1" x 1" nut plates (61-5208) in the existing holes on both sides. (2) Two 3/8-16 x 1 1/4" hex bolts Grade 5 (201-0368) in the top holes drilled with a 13/32" drill bit. (3) Two 3/8-16 x 1" hex bolts Grade 5 (201-0443) with 3/8" lock washers (203-0010) and hex nuts (202-0003) in the bottom holes. All bolts must be treated with Loctite RED and tightened to 33 foot-pounds for 3/8" Grade 5 bolts.
On the passenger side, reinstall the washer reservoir. Reattach it with a 6MM-1.0 x 30MM hex bolt Grade 8.8 (201-0655) and 1/4" lock and flat washers. Reconnect all hoses and electrical connections. The bolt must be treated with Loctite RED and tightened to 8 foot-pounds.
After drilling and before reinstalling the fascia, spray the cut edges of the frame with a good quality paint to prevent rusting.
