This 5th wheel safety chain anchor assembly provides a backup connection between your truck and 5th wheel trailer. The chain bracket bolts onto the CrossWing head piece that mounts onto your 5th wheel kingpin. When hitching up your trailer, the chain hooks link up to the 5th wheel loops anchored in your truck bed. This kit includes the safety chain assembly only (anchor loops sold separately). It is designed to fit any CrossWing model.

The CURT 16613 includes one safety chain assembly, one 1/2" hex bolt, and one 1/2" nylock nut. These components are used to attach the safety chain assembly to the upper weldment of your hitch.
You will need a torque wrench, a 3/4" socket, and a 3/4" wrench. These tools are required to properly secure the safety chain assembly to the upper weldment and achieve the correct torque specification of 65 ft-lbs.
Align the rear hole on the upper weldment with the hole on the safety chain assembly. Secure them together using the 1/2" hex bolt and 1/2" nylock nut. Torque the bolt to 65 ft-lbs using a torque wrench.
The 1/2" hex bolt securing the safety chain assembly must be torqued to 65 ft-lbs.
Before each use, inspect the unit for proper operation and check for worn, damaged, or missing parts. Confirm that the safety chains are long enough to support your maximum turning radius. Chains without adequate length may bind, resulting in damage to your vehicle, hitch, and/or trailer. Replace any damaged or worn parts immediately and never operate the product with a damaged part.

Check the hardware torque specification after the first 200 miles of towing and every 400 miles after that. Retorque to 65 ft-lbs if needed.
