This 5th wheel safety chain anchor plate helps provide a backup connection between your truck and 5th wheel trailer. The bracket is designed to mount with your gooseneck ball in your truck bed, providing an anchoring point for your 5th wheel safety chains. The CURT 16615 is a safety chain plate designed to be installed over the gooseneck ball before mounting a CrossWing 5th wheel hitch. It provides a mounting point for safety chains that connect your trailer to your vehicle, serving as a critical safety component to prevent trailer separation in the event of hitch failure.
The CURT 16615 safety chain plate is designed for use with the CrossWing 5th wheel hitch. It must be installed over the gooseneck ball before the hitch is installed.
Install the safety chain plate before installing the CrossWing 5th wheel hitch. Place the plate over the gooseneck ball first, then proceed with hitch installation.
Your safety chains must be long enough to support your maximum turning radius. Chains without adequate length may bind, resulting in damage to your vehicle, hitch, and trailer. Always confirm chain length after installation by checking that they do not restrict turning.
Check the hardware torque specification after the first 200 miles of towing, then every 400 miles after that. This ensures all fasteners remain secure during use.
