After a full day on the water, you and your crew are tired. It doesn't matter if you were swimming off the back of the pontoon boat, racing around the lake in your speed boat or just casting a line off the side of your fishing boat -- when you get to shore, the last thing you want to deal with is a faulty hand crank on your boat trailer. You want a winch that makes your job easy and that lets you get out of the marina and back home sooner. CURT hand winches are constructed from cold-forged steel to provide structurally superior pinions and eliminate gear-to-shaft bonding failures. They are designed to be mounted on a variety of trailers and are especially useful for boat trailers. CURT boat winches can also serve a number other winch applications, though they are not designed for vehicle towing. This CURT hand winch or boat winch features a capacity of 1,200 lbs. with a gear ratio of 4.2:1. It has a hub diameter of 3/4" and a handle length of 7-1/2".

CURT offers a variety of high-quality trailer hitches and accessories for select vehicle models. Find the perfect fit for your towing needs at TowUniverse.
CURT, a Lippert brand, offers a complete line of towing products and is the leading manufacturer of custom-fit trailer hitches. We offer the broadest selection of custom-fit hitches, and each one is designed, welded, and coated in Wisconsin.

Call 888-634-9494The Curt 29424 hand winch has a maximum load capacity of 1,200 lbs. Never exceed this capacity, as doing so can result in winch failure and personal injury.
The Curt 29425 hand winch has a maximum load capacity of 1,400 lbs. Never exceed this capacity.
The Curt 29435 hand winch has a maximum load capacity of 1,400 lbs. This model includes a winch strap, unlike the 29424 and 29425.
All three models (29424, 29425, and 29435) have a gear ratio of 4.2:1.
All three models (29424, 29425, and 29435) have a handle length of 7 1/2".
No. The Curt 29424 does not include a strap. The 29435 model includes a winch strap; the 29425 does not.
You will need three grade 5, 3/8" diameter bolts, three lock washers, six flat washers, and three nuts. These are not included with the winch and must be sourced separately.
Secure the handle to the input shaft with the provided lock nut. Prior to operating the winch, ensure the handle is properly secured to the winch input shaft.
1. Place a lock washer, then a flat washer on each of the three grade 5, 3/8" bolts. 2. Place each bolt through the mounting hole on the winch. 3. Add one more flat washer on the other side of the bolt. 4. Secure with a nut. Ensure the winch base is properly bolted to a structure or vehicle that can hold both the winch and the winch load. Improper bolting can result in personal injury and property damage.
1. Insert the steel cable through the square hole from the inside to the outside. 2. Insert the cable through the second hole from the outside to the inside. 3. Insert the cable through the square hole again from the inside to the outside. 4. Pull the cable tight. 5. Wrap the cable onto the drum.
Place the provided strap bolt through the sewn loop in the winch strap and secure with the strap bolt nut. The installed winch strap should be rated at 1.5 times the winch's rated capacity, and the hook on the strap should be rated at 1.5 times the strap's rated capacity.
The maximum load capacity varies by model: 29424 is 1,200 lbs; 29425 and 29435 are 1,400 lbs each. Exceeding the specified load capacity can result in winch failure, cable breakage, and serious personal injury or property damage.
Before operating the winch, verify that the winch is properly secured to the winch mount and the handle is properly secured to the winch input shaft. Check the rope, cable, or strap for signs of wear and replace immediately if wear is visible. Check for damaged parts and any other conditions that may affect operation. Replace or repair damaged or worn parts immediately.
Wear impact safety glasses and heavy duty work gloves. Wear protective hair covering to prevent long hair from becoming caught in moving parts. Do not wear loose clothing or jewelry that can be caught in moving parts. If wearing a long sleeve shirt, roll the sleeves up to the elbows.
Always leave at least five wraps of cable or belt on the drum. Failure to do so may break the cable connection to the drum and could result in serious injury.
The cable under a load should only be wound onto the drum so that a minimum space of two times the cable diameter remains on the drum flange. This prevents sideways cable slip and winch overloading.
No. Do not use any attachments to extend the length of the winch cable. This can compromise the integrity of the cable and result in failure.
No. Do not apply a load to the winch when the winch cable is fully extended. The cable anchor on the winch is not capable of holding the maximum rated load capacity.
Stand back and stay out of the direct line that the winch cable is pulling. In the event the winch cable slips or breaks, it will 'whip-lash' along this line. Keep proper footing and balance at all times to prevent tripping, falling, and back injury. Do not overreach the winch.
No. Never use a hand winch for lifting equipment or humans. The winch is designed only for pulling and loading applications.
Always maintain a firm grip on the winch handle and do not release the handle until the ratchet pawl is properly engaged. Release the handle slowly to be sure that the ratchet lever is fully supporting the load.
After moving an object with the winch, secure the object. Do not rely on the winch to hold an object for an extended period of time.
When loading a boat onto a trailer without keel or side hull rollers, make sure the trailer is submerged in the water when the boat is loaded by the winch. Attempting to drag the boat onto the trailer while on land can cause winch failure and possibly personal injury and property damage.
Keep the work area clean and dry. Damp, cluttered, and wet areas invite injuries. Keep children away from the work area and do not allow them to handle the winch.
Model 29424: 1,200 lbs. Models 29425 and 29435: 1,400 lbs each. Never exceed the specified capacity.
Three grade 5, 3/8" diameter bolts, three lock washers, six flat washers, and three nuts. These are not included and must be sourced separately.
Wear impact safety glasses, heavy duty work gloves, and protective hair covering. Do not wear loose clothing or jewelry. Roll up long sleeves to the elbows.
Always leave at least five wraps of cable on the drum. The cable under load should leave a minimum space of two times the cable diameter on the drum flange.
If you do not hear a loud clicking noise, the ratchet is not securing the load. Do not let go of the handle until the load has been secured.
The loud clicking noise indicates the ratchet is properly securing the load. If you do not hear this noise, the ratchet is not securing the load. Do not let go of the handle until the load has been secured and the clicking noise is heard.
Never let go of the handle prior to engaging the ratchet lever, as this may cause the handle to spin dangerously. Always maintain a firm grip on the handle and release it slowly only after the ratchet lever is properly engaged and supporting the load.
