It has a hub diameter of 3/4" and a handle length of 6.5".

The CURT 25002 hand winch has a load capacity of 900 lbs (402.8 kg).
No. The manual explicitly states: "Never use a hand winch for lifting equipment or humans." The 25002 is designed only for winching loads such as boats onto trailers.
You will need three grade 5, 3/8" diameter bolts, three lock washers, six flat washers, and three nuts. These are not included with the winch and must be purchased separately. The bolts are placed through the winch mounting holes with washers on both sides of the mounting surface and secured with nuts.
The installed winch strap should be rated at 1.5 times the winch's rated capacity. For the 25002 with a 900 lb capacity, the strap should be rated for at least 1,350 lbs. Additionally, the hook on the strap should be rated at 1.5 times the strap's rated capacity.
Secure the handle to the input shaft with the provided lock nut. This must be done prior to operating the winch.
Place the provided strap bolt through the sewn loop in the winch strap and secure it with the strap bolt nut.
First, verify the winch is properly secured to the winch mount and the handle is properly secured to the input shaft. Engage the ratchet lever in the pinion gear and begin turning the handle. You should hear a loud clicking noise as the line winds onto the drum. If you do not hear this clicking, the ratchet is not securing the load—do not let go of the handle until the load is secured.
Firmly hold the winch handle and release the ratchet lever (you may need to rotate the handle slightly to move the lever). Carefully rotate the handle to let line out. Do not let go of the handle until the ratchet lever has been properly engaged and is supporting the load. Let go of the handle slowly to ensure the ratchet lever is supporting the load. Never let go of the handle before engaging the ratchet lever, as this may cause the handle to spin dangerously.
The strap can be attached to watercraft in two ways: using the hook alone, or by looping the strap through the boweye and hooking onto the strap itself.
Wear impact safety glasses and heavy duty work gloves. Do not wear loose clothing or jewelry that can be caught in moving parts. Wear protective hair covering to prevent long hair from becoming caught. If wearing a long sleeve shirt, roll the sleeves up to the elbows. Do not overreach the winch. Keep proper footing and balance at all times. Stand back and stay out of the direct line the winch strap is pulling—if the strap slips or breaks, it will whip-lash along this line. Keep the work area clean and dry. Keep children away from the work area.
Check the strap before each use for signs of wear. If the strap shows signs of wear, replace it immediately. Also check for damaged parts and any other conditions that may affect operation of the winch. Carefully check that it will operate properly and perform its intended function. Replace or repair damaged or worn parts immediately.
Failure to leave at least five wraps of strap on the drum may break the strap connection to the drum and could result in serious injury. This is a critical safety requirement.

After moving an object with the winch, secure the object. Do not rely on the winch to hold an object for an extended period of time. The winch is designed for the loading operation, not for long-term load holding.
No. Do not apply a load to the winch when the winch strap is fully extended. The strap anchor on the winch is not capable of holding the maximum rated load capacity when the strap is fully extended.
When loading a boat onto a trailer without keel or side hull rollers, make sure the trailer is submerged in the water when the boat is loaded by the winch. Attempting to drag the boat onto the trailer while on land can cause winch failure and possibly personal injury and property damage.
Always maintain a firm grip on the winch handle and do not release the handle until the ratchet pawl is properly engaged. Release the handle slowly to be sure that the ratchet lever is fully supporting the load. Never let go of the handle prior to engaging the ratchet lever, as this may cause the handle to spin dangerously.
Periodic inspection of your product should be performed to ensure all hardware and/or components remain secure. The manual does not specify a particular interval, but inspection should be regular and before each use.
