Once installed and connected to a trailer with functioning lights, the taillights on both the tow vehicle and trailer will function together.

(2) Route the green wire connectors along the back to both driver and passenger sides. (3) Route the 4-flat along the fuel fill tube above the frame rail to the rear of the fuel tank. (4) Route the 4-flat above and along the frame rail to just behind the driver-side front wheel. (5) Route it to the rear of the driver-side wheel well. (6) Fishwire it up into the engine compartment just below the brake master cylinder and to the left of the main fuse block. (7) Route it along the radiator support to the driver-side inner fender and mount the 4-flat under the hood.
Fishwiring is a method to push or pull an electrical wire through a blind hole. For the Curt 58985, you route a fishwire down the inner fender and firewall, locate it from under the vehicle, pull back the inside of the wheel well lining, and locate the wiring routed from the rear. Use tape to secure the harness to the fish wire and pull it back up into the engine compartment.
