Yes. The bumper beam must be removed during installation and will not be reinstalled. The bumper cover is removed and reinstalled, but the bumper beam is removed permanently and returned to the vehicle owner.
The temperature sensor must be temporarily removed and relocated during installation. After the base plate is installed, the temperature sensor is reattached to the base plate using an included 15" cable tie. The sensor will not interfere with the base plate once properly secured.
Yes. The coolant line above the frame on the passenger side must be unclipped and temporarily moved out of the way during base plate installation. After installation, the coolant line is clipped back into place on the fender, with slight bending as needed to ensure it does not interfere with the attachment tabs.
Required tools: torque wrench, large vice grip, sockets (3/4", 10mm, 12mm, 13mm), flat screwdriver, Phillips screwdriver, utility knife, punch and hammer, and tape measure. Safety glasses should be worn at all times during installation.

1. Open hood and remove four push pins from upper front fascia panel. 2. Release four yellow clips under grille and two outermost yellow tabs at top of grille using Phillips screwdriver. 3. Remove screw and two push pins from wheel well liner on both sides. 4. Remove screw and push pin from bottom outer edge corner in front of wheel on both sides using 10mm socket and flat screwdriver. 5. Remove four center push pins from underside of fascia. 6. Remove topmost screw holding front bumper panel on both sides. 7. Release two yellow corner clips in grille area. 8. Pull bumper cover away from vehicle and unplug fog light wiring harnesses on each side.
1. Use a 12mm socket to remove four bolts from the bumper beam: one on top and three facing the front on the bracket. Repeat on both sides. 2. Remove push pin on bottom passenger side. 3. Release push pin on driver-side temperature sensor and two wire harness clips (one on bottom, one on side). 4. Use flathead screwdriver to remove push pins on top outer corners of bumper. 5. Carefully remove bumper beam and return it and hardware to vehicle owner. The bumper beam will not be reinstalled.
Trimming of the rubber radiator shroud is required. On the passenger side, cut the bracket straight down using a utility knife. On the driver side, trim a notch measuring 2-1/2" from the bottom. Additionally, trim the rubber mounting flanges on either side of the radiator, measuring 1-1/4" from the bottom and following the notched lines. Use a paint pen to mark areas before cutting. The manual recommends trimming a smaller area first, testing fit, and trimming again as needed. Take care when cutting to prevent injury.
Yes. Remove the weld nut on the inside of the vehicle frame tube using a punch and hammer. Straighten the frame if needed and repeat on the other side of the vehicle. This must be done before installing the base plate.
The six M8 hex bolts (1-1/4", 30mm, CL8.8) that secure the base plate to the frame must be torqued to 16 lb-ft. These bolts should be snugged but not fully tightened during initial installation (Step 17), then torqued to final specification after the 1/2" bolts are torqued to 110 lb-ft.
The 1/2" hex bolts (1/2"-13, 1-1/2", grade 5) that secure the base plate to the frame side and bottom holes must be torqued to 110 lb-ft. There are four of these bolts total: two for the side holes (one on each side) and two for the bottom holes (one on each side).

Two permanent safety cables rated at 3,500 lbs each are included. These cables must be installed at all times when dinghy towing. They are looped around the vehicle frame and linked to the tow bar base plate using quick links. Each cable must meet or exceed the gross weight of the towed vehicle. The cables must not pinch or interfere with hoses, wiring, or other components. Safety cables are not a replacement for safety chains connecting the tow vehicle to the towed vehicle.

Never exceed the vehicle manufacturer's recommended gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR). This is a critical safety requirement when towing with the CURT 70104.

Confirm that the safety cables do not pinch or interfere with hoses, wiring, or other components. Check that the bumper cover, grille, and other removed components are properly reinstalled. Periodically check the condition of all towing equipment, ensure all fasteners are tight, and verify that all structural components are sound.
When not towing, insert the two included socket plugs into the ends of the tow bar base plate. When ready to tow, remove the socket plugs and install the tow bar mounting tabs.
