No. Do not install mounting rails over plastic bed liners. Plastic liners must be trimmed away to allow metal-to-metal contact between the rail and the truck bed. Spray-on liners may be installed over. This is necessary for proper installation and to avoid warranty voidance due to improper installation.

Yes. You must detach the wire harness from inside the driver side frame between the fuel tank and the shock absorber mount before installation. The harness is reattached to the inside of the passenger side frame after the mounting rails are installed, using the supplied cable tie if necessary.
Depending on your vehicle, the exhaust and heat shield may need to be lowered to gain access to the bottom u-bolt end on the passenger side rear frame bracket during Step 7. If lowered, they must be reinstalled after all other installation steps are complete.
No drilling is required for the mounting rails themselves. However, drilling is required to attach the frame brackets to the truck frame. You will drill 1/8" holes first to verify alignment, then enlarge them to 9/16" for the final fasteners. The manual states "NO DRILLING REQUIRED" in the install notes, referring to the rails.
First, drill 1/8" holes to verify alignment and check for interference with bed supports. Once alignment is confirmed, enlarge these holes to 9/16" using a 9/16" drill bit. The 1/8" holes are used only for positioning verification; the final fasteners use the 9/16" holes.
Using a tape measure, center the rear rail between the box sides and position it perpendicular to the length of the vehicle. Position the rail at the proper distance from the rear edge of the truck box as shown in Figure 2. For an 8' bed, measure 28-3/8" from the back of the bed to the back of the rear rail; for a 6' bed, measure 26-3/8".
The front rail should be positioned 22" on center from the rear rail. This is verified by drilling a 1/8" hole in Row 3 and checking that the location provides adequate clearance for fasteners to be secured.
If an interference issue exists with the front bed support, shift the location of the holes and brackets towards the rear of the vehicle. Shift the rear brackets toward the rear while checking that the supplied hardware will still pass through the brackets and into the existing hole in the bottom of the frame rail. Mark and drill new hole locations through the rear frame brackets, then verify bed support clearance. Repeat this process as necessary until clearance is achieved.
Feed a 1-3/4" carriage bolt and spacer into position in the bottom of the frame using the supplied 1/2" x 30" fishwire. There is a round hole in the inside of the frame that can be used to feed the hardware through. The fishwire helps route the fasteners through the frame where they cannot be accessed directly.
The tube spacers fit inside the bed support and may be fed in through the end of the bed support with the help of a fishwire looped through the hole in the top of the bed, out the end of the bed support, and back through the hole in the bottom of the bed support. The 1/2" x 4-1/2" carriage bolt goes through the middle of the tube spacer to keep the bed support from collapsing when the bolts are tightened.
Place the unassembled 5th wheel saddles/slider/goose into the already installed first mounting rail. Position the second mounting rail with saddles/slider/goose by inserting the tabs into the mounting rail and pushing the mounting rail tight towards the other mounting rail. Ensure that the mounting rail is centered between the box sides on the length of the truck box floor. If more than one hitch product will be used with the rails, both should be used at the same time to align the second rail and ensure one product does not compromise the fit of the other.
The front edge of the front frame bracket should be just behind the front bed support. Follow the same drilling and hole verification process as the rear brackets (Steps 4, 5, and 6), then install the brackets loosely before final torquing.
The u-bolt on the driver side front frame bracket must be placed between the brake line and the frame. Improper placement of the driver side u-bolt may result in damage to the vehicle's braking system.
Torque all fasteners to 110 lb-ft in the following sequence: 1) Torque the mounting rails to the frame brackets, then 2) Torque the frame brackets to the truck frame.
