When you purchase a 5th wheel trailer hitch, you expect it to be capable of towing your RV, flatbed or whatever other 5th wheel trailer you own. While a 5th wheel hitch does offer an impressive amount of towing strength, it cannot get far without the proper installation equipment. Engineered for specific makes and models, CURT custom 5th wheel brackets provide the ideal solution for complementing the power of your 5th wheel trailer hitch. A custom 5th wheel bracket features a shape that contours to the frame of your truck and uses pre-drilled holes in the frame wherever possible to make installation quick and easy. Depending on your model of pickup truck, they also reduce or eliminate the need for drilling. These particular custom 5th wheel brackets offer a custom fit for certain model years of the Ram 1500 (see application info to verify fitment). Finished in a durable liquid A-coat, CURT custom 5th wheel brackets are made to last. They include all necessary mounting hardware and are designed to be used in conjunction with CURT industry-standard 5th wheel base rails #16104 or #16204 (base rails sold separately).

The CURT Custom 5th Wheel Brackets, Select Ram 1500 Fifth Wheel Trailer Hitch Bracket (Part #BKDK16307) fits the following vehicles: 2019-2026 Ram 1500. Always verify your specific year, make, and model before ordering.
Yes, the CURT Custom 5th Wheel Brackets, Select Ram 1500 Fifth Wheel Trailer Hitch Bracket (Part #BKDK16307) is designed to fit the 2019-2026 Ram 1500.
The CURT Custom 5th Wheel Brackets, Select Ram 1500 Fifth Wheel Trailer Hitch Bracket (Part #BKDK16307) Drilling is not required for installation. Typical installation time is . Basic hand tools are typically all you need.
No. The Curt 16307 is designed for RAM 1500 short bed only, excluding 8-foot beds. If your truck has an 8-foot bed, this product is not compatible.
No, not without modification. The manual states: 'Do not install mounting rails over plastic bed liners. Plastic liners must be trimmed for metal to metal contact.' Spray-on bed liners are acceptable and do not need to be removed, but you must compensate for their thickness when measuring hole locations.
The mounting rails are sold separately. The Curt 16307 kit includes the side plates, fasteners, and spacers needed to attach the rails to your RAM 1500 frame, but you must purchase the mounting rails themselves as a separate item.
You will need: ratchet, 3/4" socket, torque wrench, center punch, drill, 1/8" and 9/16" drill bits, tape measure, and grinder. The grinder is specifically needed to trim excess threads on U-bolts to avoid contact with suspension components.
Lower the spare tire and remove the heat shield as needed for access to the bottom of the truck bed. If your truck has a spray-in bed liner, you must account for its thickness when measuring hole locations. If you have a plastic bed liner, it must be trimmed away where the mounting rails will contact the bed.
No. The manual states 'NO FRAME DRILLING REQUIRED.' You will drill holes in the truck bed floor (1/8" pilot holes enlarged to 9/16"), but the frame itself does not require drilling.
1. Use a center punch to mark hole locations on the truck bed based on the rail location diagram. 2. Drill 1/8" pilot holes, then enlarge them to 9/16". 3. Temporarily position the side plate to verify the 1/8" holes align with the plate slots. 4. Using supplied fishwires, install 1.5" carriage bolts and spacers into the mounting locations. 5. Install the side plates over the bolts, remove the fishwires, and loosely install 1/2" hex flange nuts. 6. Do not fully tighten until all fasteners are in place and torqued in step 11.
Fishwires are used to guide the carriage bolts and spacers through the frame rail before the side plates are installed. The manual instructs: 'Insert bolt into spacer and reverse fishwire into frame rail prior to installing side plate.' Six 1/2" x 30" fishwires are supplied for this purpose.
Use a tape measure to center each rail on the truck box floor and position it the proper distance from the rear edge, as shown on the 'rail location diagram.' For the front rail, insert the hitch tabs into the mounting rail and push the rail tight toward the rear rail. Ensure the front rail is centered on the truck box floor. If using multiple hitch products, install both at the same time to ensure proper alignment and fit.
Spacers are installed between the frame bracket or mounting rails and the truck bed to ensure metal-to-metal contact and to eliminate 'rib crush' of the bed. The kit includes two sizes: .313" x 1.25" x 2.00" square hole spacers (CM-SP73, qty 2) and .250" x 1.00" x 2.50" square hole spacers (CM-SP10, qty 6), plus .313" x 1.00" x 2.00" U-shape spacers (CM-SP136, qty 10).
Drill 1/8" pilot holes first at all marked locations. Then enlarge these holes to 9/16" for the final fastener size. The manual specifies: 'Using a center punch, mark the holes as per the rail location diagram. Move the mounting rail out of the way and drill each position with a 1/8" drill bit.' Then 'Enlarge the 1/8" drill holes to 9/16".'
Yes. The manual requires: 'Grind away excess threads on U-bolts to avoid contact with suspension components.' This is a necessary modification to prevent the U-bolt threads from interfering with the truck's suspension system.
Torque all 1/2" fasteners to 110 lb-ft. This applies to the carriage bolts that fasten the rails to the frame bracket and all 1/2" hex flange nuts. Start with the carriage bolts fastening the rails to the frame bracket, then torque all nuts. Do not crush the truck bed when tightening fasteners.
On air ride equipped models, use hex head bolts and handle nuts (instead of carriage bolts and flange nuts) in the rearward most rail mounting hole on both sides. The manual specifies: 'On air ride equipped vehicles, use hex bolts and handle nuts in the rearward most rail mounting hole as shown on page 1.' Handle nuts (part number 20-00174) and hex head bolts (part number 10-10288) are supplied for this purpose.
Before installing the mounting rails and hitch, measure to ensure there is enough clearance between the truck and trailer to allow for turns. The manual warns: 'Before installing mounting rails and hitch, measure to be sure there will be enough clearance between the truck and trailer to allow for turns.' This prevents the trailer from striking the truck bed or cab during cornering.
The hitch weight is 180 lbs.
Do not exceed the vehicle manufacturer's recommended towing capacity. The manual states: 'DO NOT EXCEED VEHICLE MANUFACTURER'S RECOMENDED TOWING CAPACITY.' Consult your RAM 1500 owner's manual or manufacturer specifications for the exact towing limit.
No. The manual explicitly warns: 'Be careful not to install the U-bolts over any brake lines or electrical wire. The U-bolt should be tight to the frame only.' Before installing U-bolts, verify that no brake lines or electrical components are in the mounting path.
After torquing all fasteners to 110 lb-ft, reinstall the heat shield, spare tire, and any other components that were moved during installation. Verify that all fasteners are properly tightened and that the mounting rails are securely attached to the truck frame.
The kit includes: 2 driver side front and rear plates (16307-DSF, 16307-DSR), 2 passenger side front and rear plates (16307-PSF, 16307-PSR), 18 serrated flange nuts (1/2-13 UNC), 4 handle nuts (1/2-13 UNC), 6 fishwires (1/2" x 30"), 6 square hole spacers (.250" x 1.00" x 2.50"), 6 carriage bolts (1/2-13 UNC, 1.5"), 2 U-bolts (1/2-13 x 4.25" x 6.125" x 1.5" SQ), 10 U-shape spacers (.313" x 1.00" x 2.00"), 4 hex head cap screws (1/2-13 UNC, 2"), 8 carriage bolts (1/2-13 UNC, 2"), and 2 square hole spacers (.313" x 1.25" x 2.00"). Mounting rails are sold separately.
Professional installation takes approximately 90 minutes. DIY installation for a novice takes approximately 180 minutes (3 hours).
