CURT OEM puck system 5th wheel legs allow for faster, easier and more secure installation of your CURT 5th wheel hitch. They utilize the truck bed mounting platform, called the puck system, built into certain pickups today with the towing prep package. Using a set of anchors, the legs quickly and easily drop into the pucks, instantly equipping the truck for 5th wheel towing. This set of 5th wheel legs is designed to fit the puck system in select model years of the Ram 2500 and 3500 with 8-foot bed (see application info to verify fitment). With a gross trailer weight capacity of 25,000 lbs., the legs are compatible with all CURT 5th wheel hitches (weight capacities are limited to the lowest-rated towing component). The most unique feature of CURT OEM puck system 5th wheel legs is their quarter-turn anchoring system. This system is the key to streamlined 5th wheel towing. With the hitch head initially bolted onto the legs, the legs can quickly be installed or removed from the truck bed as needed, simply by turning the anchor handles. The quarter-turn anchors supply the necessary strength for towing heavy-duty 5th wheel trailers, and they feature an adjustable design to perfectly lock the hitch into place and eliminate any chucking noises. To give you confidence in every job you undertake with your truck, we give our OEM puck system 5th wheel legs a durable carbide black powder coat finish. This makes them highly resistant to scratches, rust and UV damage. We also back our 5th wheel legs with a limited lifetime warranty to put your mind at ease with every new mile.

The CURT Puck System 5th Wheel Legs, Select Ram 2500, 3500, 8' Bed, 25K Fifth Wheel Trailer Hitch Mount Leg (Part #BKDK16021) Refer to the included instructions for installation details. Basic hand tools are typically all you need.
The 16021 is compatible with CURT 5th wheel heads 16520, 16545, 16530, and 16515 only. Your truck must have OEM-style bed mounts with large rear mounts that match the large locking feet on the 16021. Confirm your 5th wheel head model number before purchasing. The legs are designed for RAM trucks with compatible mounting locations.
The 16021 RAM OEM compatible legs work with CURT 5th wheel heads: 16520, 16545, 16530, and 16515. These are the only compatible models.
The 16021 hardware kit includes: 2 hex head cap screws M14 x 75 (CL8.8), 2 flat washers M14, 2 lock washers M14, and 4 Nulock nuts M14 x 2 (CL10.9). The kit also includes 4 lynch pins for securing the locking handles. Additional M14 bolts and flat washers are provided separately with the 5th wheel head unit.
Installation involves seven steps: (1) Locate the M14 hardware package with the 5th wheel head unit. (2) Select mounting holes with sufficient clearance and loosely attach leg assemblies using M14 bolts and washers with Nulock nuts, positioning the operating instruction label on the driver side. (3) Loosely attach the cross support weldment between the two leg assemblies using M14 x 75 bolts, lock washers, and flat washers. (4) Remove the four lynch pins, swing all four handles completely open, and lower the legs into the truck bed, ensuring all four locking bolts and spacers drop into the mounting holes. (5) Torque all six M14 bolts to 100 ft-lbs and reinstall the 5th wheel head if removed. (6) Rotate handles to closed position and resecure with lynch pins. (7) Confirm all four locking bolts are engaged in truck bed mounts with castle nuts secured by cotter pins, and all four handles are locked with lynch pins.
Yes. Position the leg assembly with the operating instruction label on the driver side of the tow vehicle. This ensures proper orientation of the legs.
If one or more locking handles will not close, the T-bolt requires adjustment. (1) Remove the cotter pin securing the castle nut above the handle. (2) Loosen the castle nut a quarter-turn while pressing down on the T-bolt. (3) Reattempt to close the handle. If it closes, resecure the castle nut with the cotter pin. If not, repeat step 2. Do not force the handle closed, as this may damage the locking bolt and handle, possibly resulting in trailer detachment.
All six M14 bolts must be torqued to 100 ft-lbs after the legs are positioned in the truck bed and before the handles are closed.
Never exceed your vehicle manufacturer's recommended towing capacity. Trailer and contents combined must not exceed the tow vehicle, hitch, and/or trailer tow ratings. Exceeding rated capacity may result in separation and/or damage to the 5th wheel hitch, towing vehicle, or trailer, and may cause death or serious injury. Additionally, never position yourself or others under the trailer's kingpin area during coupling and uncoupling, as improperly coupled trailers can separate and drop without notice.
Do not force the handles closed. Forcing the handle closed may damage the locking bolt and handle, possibly resulting in trailer detachment. Slight resistance should be felt as the handles are rotated closed. If a handle will not close with moderate pressure, adjustments must be made to the T-bolt instead.
Do not expose hands, body parts, or clothing between the truck and trailer or between the truck bed sides and trailer. Extreme care should be observed to avoid serious injury to yourself, property, and observers.
After installation, confirm: (1) all four locking bolts are engaged in the truck bed mounts, (2) the castle nuts are secured with cotter pins, and (3) all four handles are securely locked with lynch pins. The 16021 is ready for use once all these checks are complete.
The manual requires proper maintenance and regular inspection of the product according to the specific instruction sheet. Failure to properly maintain and regularly inspect the product voids the warranty. However, the manual does not specify a detailed maintenance schedule or inspection frequency. Contact CURT Manufacturing at 1.877.287.8634 for specific maintenance recommendations.
The 16021 is compatible with CURT 5th wheel heads 16520, 16545, 16530, and 16515 only. Your truck must have OEM-style bed mounts matching the large locking feet. Confirm your 5th wheel head model before purchasing.
The kit includes 2 M14 x 75 hex bolts, 2 M14 flat washers, 2 M14 lock washers, 4 M14 Nulock nuts, and 4 lynch pins. Additional M14 bolts and washers are provided with the 5th wheel head unit.
The manual states to reinstall the 5th wheel head after torquing the bolts if it was removed to ease installation, suggesting removal is optional. The manual does not explicitly require removal.
Torque all six M14 bolts to 100 ft-lbs after positioning the legs in the truck bed.
Never exceed your vehicle manufacturer's recommended towing capacity. Exceeding capacity may result in trailer separation, damage to the hitch, or serious injury or death.
Adjust the T-bolt by removing the cotter pin, loosening the castle nut a quarter-turn while pressing down on the T-bolt, and retrying. Repeat if necessary. Do not force the handle closed.
If the handle does not close, repeat step 2. Do not force the handle closed, as this may damage the locking bolt and handle, possibly resulting in trailer detachment.
Ensure all four locking bolts and spacers drop into the mounting holes before attempting to close the handles. If they do not drop, verify that you have selected mounting holes with sufficient clearance between the 5th wheel trailer and the sides of the tow vehicle. The legs may need to be repositioned to align with the correct mounting holes. Consult the manual's Step 2 and Step 4 for proper hole selection and positioning.
