CURT OEM puck system 5th wheel legs allow for faster, easier and more secure installation of your CURT 5th wheel hitch. They utilize the truck bed mounting platform, called the puck system, built into certain pickups today with the towing prep package. Using a set of anchors, the legs quickly and easily drop into the pucks, instantly equipping the truck for 5th wheel towing. This set of 5th wheel legs is designed to fit select model years of the Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra 2500 HD and 3500 HD with 8-foot bed (see application info to verify fitment). With a gross trailer weight capacity of 25,000 lbs., the legs are compatible with all CURT 5th wheel hitches (weight capacities are limited to the lowest-rated towing component). The most unique feature of CURT OEM puck system 5th wheel legs is their quarter-turn anchoring system. This system is the key to streamlined 5th wheel towing. With the hitch head initially bolted onto the legs, the legs can quickly be installed or removed from the truck bed as needed, simply by turning the anchor handles. The quarter-turn anchors supply the necessary strength for towing heavy-duty 5th wheel trailers, and they feature an adjustable design to perfectly lock the hitch into place and eliminate any chucking noises. The CURT 16025 OEM-compatible 5th wheel legs are compatible with the following CURT 5th wheel heads: 16520, 16545, 16530, and 16515. If your hitch head is not one of these models, the 16025 legs will not be compatible. Verify your 5th wheel head model number before purchasing.
The CURT 16025 legs are designed as OEM-compatible 5th wheel legs for Chevrolet and GMC trucks. They are engineered to work with the large rear mounts in the truck bed and are compatible with trucks that have OEM-style bed mounting holes. Verify that your truck has the required mounting holes and large rear mounts before installation.
The CURT 16025 package includes two leg assemblies: one passenger side leg assembly and one driver side leg assembly. The four M14 hex bolts and flat washers required for installation are provided with the 5th wheel head unit, not with the legs themselves. Lynch pins and castle nuts with cotter pins are pre-installed on the legs.
The manual states that the 5th wheel head can be removed to ease installation, but it is not explicitly required. The legs are assembled to the 5th wheel head using M14 bolts through selected mounting holes. If you choose to remove the head for easier access, you must re-install it after the legs are secured and positioned.
1. Locate the hardware package with four M14 hex bolts and flat washers. 2. Select mounting holes that allow sufficient clearance between the trailer and truck sides. 3. Assemble the legs to the 5th wheel head using M14 bolts and washers, loosely securing them. 4. Remove the four lynch pins and swing all four handles completely open. 5. Lower the legs into position in the truck bed, ensuring all four locking bolts and spacers drop into the mounting holes. 6. Torque all four M14 bolts to 100 ft-lbs. 7. Rotate the handles back to the closed position and re-insert all four lynch pins. 8. Confirm all four locking bolts are engaged and castle nuts are secured with cotter pins.
Position the leg assembly with the operating instruction label on the driver side of the tow vehicle. The large locking feet on the 16025 will match the large rear mounts in the truck bed. Select mounting holes that allow sufficient clearance between the 5th wheel trailer and the sides of the tow vehicle. Ensure all four locking bolts and spacers drop into the mounting holes before attempting to close the handles.
All four M14 bolts must be torqued to 100 ft-lbs. This torque should be applied after the legs are positioned in the truck bed mounts and all four locking bolts and spacers have dropped into the mounting holes.
If a handle will not close with moderate pressure, the locking T-bolt requires adjustment. Do not force the handle closed, as this may damage the locking bolt and handle, possibly resulting in trailer detachment. To adjust: 1. Remove the cotter pin securing the castle nut above the handle. 2. Loosen the castle nut a quarter-turn while pressing down on the T-bolt. 3. Reattempt to close the handle. 4. If it closes, resecure the castle nut with the cotter pin. If it does not close, repeat the loosening process.
After installation, perform the following checks: 1. Confirm all four locking bolts are engaged in the truck bed mounts. 2. Verify that the castle nuts are secured with cotter pins. 3. Double-check that all four handles are securely locked with the lynch pins. 4. Ensure all four M14 bolts have been torqued to 100 ft-lbs. When all these conditions are met, the 16025 is installed and ready for use.
Never exceed your vehicle manufacturer's recommended towing capacity. The trailer and its contents combined must not exceed the tow vehicle, hitch, and/or trailer tow ratings. Exceeding rated capacity may result in separation and/or damage to the 5th wheel hitch, towing vehicle, or trailer, and may cause death or serious injury. Additionally, never position yourself or others under the trailer's kingpin area during coupling and uncoupling, as improperly coupled trailers can separate and drop without notice.
Do not expose your hands, body parts, or clothing between the truck and trailer or between the truck's bed sides and trailer. Extreme care should be observed to avoid serious injury to yourself, property, and observers. Never position yourself or others under the trailer's kingpin area (danger zone) during coupling and uncoupling. Improperly coupled trailers can separate and drop without notice. Do not force the handles closed, as this may damage the locking mechanism and result in trailer detachment.
The CURT 16025 is designed for Chevrolet and GMC trucks with OEM-style bed mounts and is compatible with CURT 5th wheel heads 16520, 16545, 16530, and 16515. The large locking feet must align with the large rear mounts in the truck bed. If alignment is incorrect, try different mounting holes.
