The CURT 18125 is designed for vehicles with factory roof racks and cargo baskets. Your vehicle must have a factory roof rack with a weight capacity that can support the cargo carrier plus the weight of your bikes. The product is rated for a maximum of 150 lbs., but you must never exceed your vehicle's factory roof rack weight limit. Check your vehicle's owner's manual for the roof rack weight rating before purchasing.
The CURT 18125 adapters support both 100 mm and 110 mm fork spacing. The adapters can be flipped to accommodate either spacing. You must verify your fork spacing before installation to ensure you use the correct orientation.
The CURT 18125 is compatible with 9 mm, 12 mm, and 15 mm bike axles. For 9 mm axles, use the included bushing with a groove and the quick release. For 12 mm axles, use the bushing without a groove and re-use your bike's axle. For 15 mm axles, no bushing is required and you must re-use your bike's axle.
The CURT 18125 includes: 2 quick release mechanisms, 2 tube spacers (12 mm), and 2 tie down straps. The quick releases are suitable only for 9 mm axles; for 12 mm and 15 mm axles, you must re-use your bike's original axle.
Yes. Step 1 of the installation requires you to remove any old fork mounts from the cargo basket if they are currently installed. This must be done before installing the replacement adapters.
After installing the quick release or axle through the bushing, wrap the included safety strap around the rear tire and cargo rack to secure the rear of the bike. Feed the end of the strap into the buckle and tighten it. This prevents the bike from shifting during transport.
For 9 mm axles, insert the bushing with the groove. For 12 mm axles, insert the bushing with no groove. For 15 mm axles, no bushing is required—proceed directly to inserting the axle.
