Draw-Tite has designed custom-fit trailer hitches since 1946 and is one of North America's most widely fitted hitch brands. Receiver hitches use solid all-welded construction and low-profile designs that follow modern vehicle contours, install with minimal bumper cutting or drilling, meet or exceed V5 CSA and SAE J684 standards, and carry a limited lifetime warranty.
Draw-Tite has been leading custom-fit trailer hitch design and engineering since its founding in 1946, and it remains one of the most widely fitted hitch brands in North America. The company's stated approach is straightforward: every hitch is tested rigorously so that it performs well beyond published industry standards, a philosophy it markets as Tested Tough. It sits within the Horizon Global towing group alongside Reese, Fulton, Bulldog, Tekonsha, Bargman and Wesbar.
Custom fit is the defining characteristic. Rather than adapting a universal design, Draw-Tite engineers a trailer hitch for a specific make, model and model year, so it bolts to existing frame locations with minimal bumper cutting or drilling. Low-profile designs follow the rear contours and aerodynamic styling of modern vehicles, which matters more than it once did now that rear fascias are shaped and sensor-equipped. Construction is solid all-welded steel for maximum strength, and every hitch meets or exceeds V5 CSA and SAE J684 standards and is backed by a nationwide limited lifetime warranty.
The range spans receiver sizes and classes to suit different loads, from 1-1/4 inch receivers for bike racks, cargo carriers and light trailers up through 2 inch receivers for heavier towing. Front mount hitches add a receiver at the front of the vehicle for winch mounts, snow plows, spare carriers and precise trailer positioning.
The Hidden Hitch series takes concealment further by mounting behind the vehicle's rear fascia, so the vehicle keeps its factory appearance until a removable receiver is fitted. Each is custom designed per make and model for a no-drill installation that does not compromise ground clearance, rated for up to 3,500 pounds gross trailer weight and 350 pounds tongue weight. Matching plug-and-play wiring completes the towing system.

The Draw-tite Class 1 Trailer Hitch, 1-1/4" Square Receiver, Black for Select Acura CSX, Acura ILX 24861 (Part #DT24861) Refer to the included instructions for installation details. Basic hand tools are typically all you need.
Yes, part number 24861 is designed for both Acura CSX and Acura ILX models. However, the installation procedure differs significantly between the two vehicles. CSX installation requires lowering the exhaust, while ILX installation does not lower the exhaust and requires two persons to install.
The maximum gross trailer weight is 2000 lb (908 kg) and the maximum tongue weight is 200 lb (90.8 kg). However, you must not exceed the lower of these ratings or your vehicle manufacturer's towing rating.
You will need a small screwdriver, tape, utility knife, tape measure, marking pencil, and wrenches in sizes 3/4", 7/8", and 10mm. A torque wrench is also required to tighten the fasteners to the specified torque values.
The kit includes: (2) 1/2"-13 x 1-1/4" hex bolts Grade 5, (1) 1/2"-13 x 2-1/4" hex bolt Grade 5, (4) 1/2" conical toothed washers, (1) 1/2"-13 lock nut, and (2) 1/2"-13 handle nuts. Additional fastener kits (24861F) are available separately.
Yes. The manual explicitly states that ILX installation requires two persons. CSX installation does not specify a two-person requirement.
Yes. For CSX models, you must lower the vehicle exhaust by removing the tailpipe tangs from the rubber exhaust hanger at the rear of the vehicle before raising the hitch into position. This step is not required for ILX models.
Yes. For ILX models, you must remove the appearance panel by removing (4) plastic rivets and (3) bolts. The panel should be returned to the vehicle owner after installation. All fasteners must be reinstalled.
Yes. The heat shield must be trimmed. The manual specifies a trim of 2-1/4" x 7" (57.15 x 177.8 mm). The trimmed heat shield is then reinstalled over the hitch. The manual notes that heat shield trim may be sold separately.
No. The manual explicitly states: "Do not cut access or attachment holes with a torch." Use alternative cutting methods such as a utility knife or other appropriate tools.
Tighten the 1/2"-13 x 1-1/4" hex bolts to 50 lb-ft (68 N·m) using a torque wrench. Note that this torque applies to bolts going into the frame.
Tighten the 1/2"-13 x 2-1/4" hex bolt to 75 lb-ft (102 N·m) using a torque wrench. This bolt goes through the vehicle tow hook and has a different torque specification than the frame bolts.
Insert the 1/2"-13 x 2-1/4" bolt and toothed washer through the slot in the hitch, then through the vehicle tow hook, and back through the hitch. Install a toothed washer on the other side, then the lock nut. This applies to both CSX and ILX installations.
Raise the hitch into position with the frame bracket flanges positioned between the frame rail and plastic shroud on the driver's side, and between the frame rail and exhaust heat shield on the passenger's side. Ensure that tailpipe tangs are above the hitch bar while raising it into place.
Yes. After installing the fasteners but before final tightening, pull the hitch rearward as far as possible to allow muffler clearance with the hitch bar on the passenger's side. Then tighten all fasteners to the required torque specifications.
Yes. On some CSX vehicles, it may be necessary to remove the chrome decorative ring from the end of the tailpipe to allow the muffler to slide sideways toward the middle of the vehicle for better wrench access. If removed, it must be reinstalled after the hitch is secured.
Insert the 1/2"-13 handle nuts through the large holes in the vehicle frame rails. On ILX models, bend the handle as shown in the diagram. On CSX models, the handle nuts are inserted through the frame rail holes to secure the hitch.
Observe safety precautions when working beneath the vehicle and wear eye protection. Do not cut access or attachment holes with a torch. The drawbar must be used in the Rise position only. Do not exceed the lower of the towing vehicle manufacturer's rating or the hitch's maximum capacity of 2000 lb gross trailer weight and 200 lb tongue weight.
Check the hitch frequently to ensure all fasteners and the ball are properly tightened. The manual recommends regular inspection as part of ongoing maintenance.
If the hitch is removed, plug all holes in the trunk pan or other body panels to prevent entry of water and exhaust fumes.
A hitch or ball which has been damaged should be removed and replaced. Do not continue to use a damaged hitch.
Yes, part 24861 fits both Acura CSX and ILX, but installation procedures differ. CSX requires exhaust lowering; ILX requires two persons and does not lower the exhaust.
You need a small screwdriver, tape, utility knife, tape measure, marking pencil, wrenches (3/4", 7/8", 10mm), and a torque wrench.
No drilling is required. The hitch uses existing frame holes and the factory tow hook. Heat shield trimming (2-1/4" x 7") is required, but no new holes are drilled.
Tighten 1/2"-13 x 1-1/4" bolts to 50 lb-ft (68 N·m) and the 1/2"-13 x 2-1/4" bolt to 75 lb-ft (102 N·m). Use a torque wrench for both.
Maximum gross trailer weight is 2000 lb (908 kg) and maximum tongue weight is 200 lb (90.8 kg). Do not exceed the lower of these limits or your vehicle manufacturer's rating.
Yes, ILX installation requires two persons. CSX installation does not specify a two-person requirement.
No. Do not cut access or attachment holes with a torch. Use alternative cutting methods such as a utility knife.
