Draw-Tite has designed custom-fit trailer hitches since 1946 and is one of North America's most widely fitted hitch brands. Receiver hitches use solid all-welded construction and low-profile designs that follow modern vehicle contours, install with minimal bumper cutting or drilling, meet or exceed V5 CSA and SAE J684 standards, and carry a limited lifetime warranty.
Draw-Tite has been leading custom-fit trailer hitch design and engineering since its founding in 1946, and it remains one of the most widely fitted hitch brands in North America. The company's stated approach is straightforward: every hitch is tested rigorously so that it performs well beyond published industry standards, a philosophy it markets as Tested Tough. It sits within the Horizon Global towing group alongside Reese, Fulton, Bulldog, Tekonsha, Bargman and Wesbar.
Custom fit is the defining characteristic. Rather than adapting a universal design, Draw-Tite engineers a trailer hitch for a specific make, model and model year, so it bolts to existing frame locations with minimal bumper cutting or drilling. Low-profile designs follow the rear contours and aerodynamic styling of modern vehicles, which matters more than it once did now that rear fascias are shaped and sensor-equipped. Construction is solid all-welded steel for maximum strength, and every hitch meets or exceeds V5 CSA and SAE J684 standards and is backed by a nationwide limited lifetime warranty.
The range spans receiver sizes and classes to suit different loads, from 1-1/4 inch receivers for bike racks, cargo carriers and light trailers up through 2 inch receivers for heavier towing. Front mount hitches add a receiver at the front of the vehicle for winch mounts, snow plows, spare carriers and precise trailer positioning.
The Hidden Hitch series takes concealment further by mounting behind the vehicle's rear fascia, so the vehicle keeps its factory appearance until a removable receiver is fitted. Each is custom designed per make and model for a no-drill installation that does not compromise ground clearance, rated for up to 3,500 pounds gross trailer weight and 350 pounds tongue weight. Matching plug-and-play wiring completes the towing system.

Equip your vehicle for towing and hitch-mounted accessories with a dependable CURT 2" trailer hitch. Designed for a vehicle-specific fit, CURT receiver hitches provide a strong and secure connection point for towing trailers, carrying bikes, transporting cargo and using other compatible 2-inch hitch accessories.
Our selection of CURT 2-inch receiver hitches includes options for trucks, SUVs, crossovers, vans and passenger vehicles. Each hitch is engineered to match specific vehicle mounting points, helping provide a clean installation and dependable performance. Depending on the vehicle application, available options may include Class 3, Class 4 and heavy-duty receiver hitches with different gross trailer weight and tongue weight capacities.
A 2" x 2" receiver opening is one of the most common hitch sizes and works with a wide range of towing accessories, including ball mounts, bike racks, cargo carriers, hitch steps and tow hooks. When towing a trailer, you may also need a properly rated trailer ball, hitch pin, wiring harness, brake controller or weight distribution system.
CURT trailer hitches feature a durable black finish designed to help protect against rust, scratches and exposure to road conditions. Many models install using existing holes in the vehicle frame, although drilling, trimming or temporary removal of vehicle components may be required for certain applications.
Use our vehicle fitment tools to find the correct CURT 2" trailer hitch for your year, make and model. Always compare the hitch rating with your vehicle’s towing capacity and the ratings of every component in your towing setup. The maximum towing capacity is determined by the lowest-rated component.

Yes, the 76176 is compatible with 2021 Volkswagen Atlas models. The manual includes specific installation steps for 2021 and later model years, including fascia screw removal and lower fascia trimming.
No. The manual specifies the hitch is designed for 2018-Current Volkswagen Atlas models only. It is not compatible with pre-2018 Atlas vehicles.
The maximum gross trailer weight is 6000 lb (2724 kg) and the maximum tongue weight is 900 lb (409 kg). However, you must not exceed the lower of the towing vehicle manufacturer's rating or these limits.
The 76176 is available in both weight-carrying and weight-distributing configurations. Both versions have the same maximum gross trailer weight (6000 lb / 2724 kg) and maximum tongue weight (900 lb / 409 kg).
Required tools are: ratchet, torque wrench, safety glasses, sockets, 6-inch socket extension, 3/4-inch die grinder, scraper, T15 Torx bit socket, tape measure, marker, and utility knife. The die grinder is used to enlarge the frame access hole. The T15 Torx bit is needed only for 2021 and later model years to remove fascia screws.
The fastener kit 76176F includes: (4) carriage bolts 1/2"-13 x 1 3/4" GR5, (4) spacers 1/4" x 1" x 3" (part no. 03022), (4) conical washers 1/2" (part no. 01292008), (4) hex nuts 1/2"-13 GR5, and (4) fish wires 1/2" (part no. 5482).
For 2018-2020 model years, you do not need to remove the fascia. For 2021 and later model years, you must trim the lower fascia. You will remove (4) screws from the bottom of the fascia using a T15 Torx bit, then measure, mark, and trim the lower fascia using a tape measure, marker, and utility knife as shown in the manual's Figure 3. The wiring harness must be relocated if present in the trimming area.
1. Remove excess caulk from frame rails. 2. Enlarge the access hole using a die grinder so the carriage bolt head fits through. 3. Use fish wire to install the carriage bolts and spacers through the access hole in the frame (both sides). 4. For 2021+ models, remove (4) screws from the bottom of the fascia using a T15 Torx bit. 5. For 2021+ models, trim the lower fascia using tape measure, marker, and utility knife. 6. Raise the hitch into position, feed fish wires through the hitch attachment holes, loosely install the conical washers and hex nuts (teeth side of washer against hitch). For 2021+ models, gently pull the fascia to raise the hitch. 7. Torque all 1/2"-13 GR5 fasteners to 75 lb-ft (102 N·m).
The fish wire is used to route the carriage bolts and spacers through the access hole in the vehicle frame. After installing the hardware through the access hole, the fish wire is kept attached to the hardware and then fed through the attachment holes in the hitch to help position and secure the hitch to the vehicle.
No drilling is required. However, you must enlarge the existing access hole in the vehicle frame using a die grinder or other suitable tool so the carriage bolt head can fit through. The manual explicitly states: "DO NOT cut access or attachment holes with a torch."
Fascia trimming is required only for 2021 and later model years. For these models, you must measure, mark, and trim the lower fascia using a tape measure, marker, and utility knife as shown in Figure 3 of the manual. For 2018-2020 model years, trimming is not required, though the manual notes the hitch is intentionally designed to be close to the fascia at the center and may require trimming the center, inside, lower edge of the fascia if necessary.
No. The manual explicitly states: "DO NOT cut, weld or modify this receiver." Any modifications will void the warranty and compromise the structural integrity and safety of the hitch.
All 1/2"-13 GR5 fasteners must be tightened to 75 lb-ft (102 N·m) using a torque wrench. Proper torque is essential to keep the hitch securely mounted to the vehicle when towing.
The carriage bolts are 1/2"-13 x 1 3/4" GR5 (grade 5). Four bolts are included in the fastener kit 76176F.
The spacers are 1/4" x 1" x 3" (part no. 03022). Four spacers are included in the fastener kit 76176F.
The conical washer teeth side must be positioned against the hitch. The washers are 1/2" (part no. 01292008), and four are included in the fastener kit 76176F.
Always wear safety glasses during installation. Observe safety precautions when working beneath the vehicle and wear eye protection. Do not cut access or attachment holes with a torch. If the hitch is removed, plug all holes in the trunk pan or other body panels to prevent entry of water and exhaust fumes. A damaged hitch or ball must be removed and replaced.
Always wear your seatbelt. Slow down when towing and never exceed any posted speed limit. Load the trailer heavier in front. Do not exceed the lower of the towing vehicle manufacturer's rating or the hitch limits (6000 lb GVWR, 900 lb tongue weight). If excess sway occurs, remove your foot from the gas pedal and hold the steering wheel as steady as possible. Do not apply the brakes and do not speed up.
Check that all fasteners are tight and the hitch is securely mounted to the vehicle. Verify that the ball is properly tightened. Check the hitch frequently to ensure all fasteners and the ball remain properly tightened during use.
The manual states: "Check hitch frequently, making sure all fasteners and ball are properly tightened." It also states: "CHECK all fasteners are tight and your hitch is securely mounted to your vehicle periodically." Specific retorque intervals are not provided in the manual.
If the hitch is removed, plug all holes in the trunk pan or other body panels to prevent entry of water and exhaust fumes.
A hitch or ball which has been damaged should be removed and replaced. Do not attempt to repair a damaged hitch.
