Draw-Tite has designed custom-fit trailer hitches since 1946 and is one of North America's most widely fitted hitch brands. Receiver hitches use solid all-welded construction and low-profile designs that follow modern vehicle contours, install with minimal bumper cutting or drilling, meet or exceed V5 CSA and SAE J684 standards, and carry a limited lifetime warranty.
Draw-Tite has been leading custom-fit trailer hitch design and engineering since its founding in 1946, and it remains one of the most widely fitted hitch brands in North America. The company's stated approach is straightforward: every hitch is tested rigorously so that it performs well beyond published industry standards, a philosophy it markets as Tested Tough. It sits within the Horizon Global towing group alongside Reese, Fulton, Bulldog, Tekonsha, Bargman and Wesbar.
Custom fit is the defining characteristic. Rather than adapting a universal design, Draw-Tite engineers a trailer hitch for a specific make, model and model year, so it bolts to existing frame locations with minimal bumper cutting or drilling. Low-profile designs follow the rear contours and aerodynamic styling of modern vehicles, which matters more than it once did now that rear fascias are shaped and sensor-equipped. Construction is solid all-welded steel for maximum strength, and every hitch meets or exceeds V5 CSA and SAE J684 standards and is backed by a nationwide limited lifetime warranty.
The range spans receiver sizes and classes to suit different loads, from 1-1/4 inch receivers for bike racks, cargo carriers and light trailers up through 2 inch receivers for heavier towing. Front mount hitches add a receiver at the front of the vehicle for winch mounts, snow plows, spare carriers and precise trailer positioning.
The Hidden Hitch series takes concealment further by mounting behind the vehicle's rear fascia, so the vehicle keeps its factory appearance until a removable receiver is fitted. Each is custom designed per make and model for a no-drill installation that does not compromise ground clearance, rated for up to 3,500 pounds gross trailer weight and 350 pounds tongue weight. Matching plug-and-play wiring completes the towing system.

The hitch has two ratings depending on type: Weight Carrying capacity is 12,000 lb (5443 kg) gross trailer weight with 1,200 lb (544 kg) tongue weight. Weight Distributing capacity is 14,000 lb (6350 kg) gross trailer weight with 1,700 lb (771 kg) tongue weight. Do not exceed the lower of the towing vehicle manufacturer's rating or these limits.
Required tools are: ratchet, torque wrench, safety glasses, sockets (15/16" and 1-1/8"), socket extension, wrench (15/16" and 1-1/8"), drill, drill bits (½", 5/8", ¾"), and clamp. A fastener kit (45516F) is included with the hitch.
The manual states that installation time is 60 minutes for professional installers. If you do not feel comfortable performing the installation yourself or need assistance, contact a professional installer.
Yes. Installation requires drilling six holes into the vehicle frame: two ¾" holes for rear attachment (one per side), two 5/8" holes for forward attachment (one per side), and four ½" holes for side attachment into the plates that extend below the frame. The hitch is used as a template to mark hole locations.
No. The manual explicitly states: "Do not cut access or attachment holes with a torch." Use a drill with the appropriate bit size (½", 5/8", or ¾" as specified for each hole).
Tighten all ¾-10 Gr5 fasteners with a torque wrench to 200 Lb.-Ft. (271 N·M). There are two of these fasteners (one per side) used for rear attachment.
Tighten all 5/8-11 Gr5 fasteners with a torque wrench to 110 Lb.-Ft. (136 N·M). There are two of these fasteners (one per side) used for forward attachment.
Tighten all ½-13 Gr5 fasteners with a torque wrench to 70 Lb.-Ft. (95 N·M). There are four of these fasteners (two per side) used for side attachment into the plates that extend below the frame.
1. Clamp hitch into position, aligning rivet clearance holes in bracket with rivet heads in frame bottom. 2. Drill two ¾" rear attachment holes (one per side). 3. Loosely install ¾" fasteners (hex bolts, flat washers, lock washers, hex nuts). 4. Drill two 5/8" forward attachment holes (one per side). 5. Loosely install 5/8" fasteners. 6. Tighten all 5/8-11 fasteners to 110 Lb.-Ft. 7. Tighten all ¾-10 fasteners to 200 Lb.-Ft. 8. Drill four ½" side attachment holes into plates extending below frame. 9. Loosely install ½" fasteners. 10. Tighten all ½-13 fasteners to 70 Lb.-Ft.
Fasteners are installed loosely first, then tightened in a specific order. After drilling and installing all fasteners loosely, tighten the 5/8-11 fasteners first to 110 Lb.-Ft., then the ¾-10 fasteners to 200 Lb.-Ft., then the ½-13 fasteners to 70 Lb.-Ft. This sequence ensures proper alignment and secure mounting.
Check that all fasteners and the ball are properly tightened. The manual states: "Check hitch frequently, making sure all fasteners and ball are properly tightened." Proper torque is needed to keep the hitch secure to the vehicle when towing.
If excess sway occurs, take your foot off the gas pedal and hold the steering wheel as steady as possible. Do not apply your brakes and do not speed up.
Load the trailer heavier in front. This helps maintain stability and control while towing.
Always wear safety glasses when installing the hitch. Observe safety precautions when working beneath a vehicle and wear eye protection. The manual emphasizes proper torque is needed to keep the hitch secure to the vehicle when towing.
Check the hitch frequently, making sure all fasteners and the ball are properly tightened. If the hitch is removed, plug all holes in the trunk pan or other body panels to prevent entry of water and exhaust fumes. A hitch or ball that has been damaged should be removed and replaced.
Fastener kit 45516F includes: four ½-13 × 1.50 Gr5 hex bolts with flat washers and lock washers and hex nuts; two 5/8-11 × 2.00 Gr5 hex bolts with flat washers and lock washers and hex nuts; and two ¾-10 × 2.00 Gr5 hex bolts with flat washers and lock washers and hex nuts.
