They are also made to add a stylish accent to your truck, featuring stainless steel plates along the bottom edge of each flap. The plates are made from 18-gauge stainless steel to provide a heavy-duty, rust-resistant shield, and they feature a bright, high-polish finish for a long-lasting shine. The textured finish of the rubber mud flaps is also designed to easily hide minor scuffs and scratches and maintain a clean appearance. Yes, drilling is required for the rear splash guards only. In step 3.3, after the splash guard is leveled and tightened, you must drill a 3/16" hole through the wheel well flange to install the 1/4" self-tapping screw. Drilling is not required for the front splash guards.
Install the front splash guards first (steps 2.1–2.6), then the rear splash guards (steps 3.1–3.5). For each side, follow the order given: attach support braces and fasteners, position the guard, install lower fasteners, tighten, and (for rear only) drill and install the upper self-tapping screw. Repeat for the opposite side.
Using a 1/4-20 X .75" bolt, a black fender washer, and a 1/4-20 flange nut (items #4, 6, 10), install the support brace (item #8) to the mud guard as shown in Figure 1. Then attach the support brace to the factory inner fender liner using the factory screw that you removed in step 2.4.
For the inside lower hole, use a hex head sems screw, fender washer, and spacer washer (items #3, 4, 9). For the outer lower hole, use a hex head sems screw and fender washer (items #3, 4). Both are installed through the wheel well flange and tightened down.
For vehicles with factory wheel well liners, use three hex head sems screws with fender washers (items #3, 4) through the three lower holes. For vehicles without factory wheel well liners, use a ¼-20 X 1.25" black button head screw, a ¼-20 flange nut, and 2 fender washers (items #4, 5, 6) for each hole.
Drill a 3/16" hole through the wheel well flange. Install a 1/4" self-tapping screw and fender washer (items #7, 4) through this hole. Do not over-tighten this screw.
Do not over-tighten the 1/4" self-tapping screw (item #7) installed in step 3.3. Over-tightening can damage the fastener or the wheel well flange.
