Like many LUVERNE side steps and running boards, O-Mega II 6" oval side steps are made to work hard and to do it with style. They are constructed from strong, lightweight, rust-free aluminum, and to truly make them a step up from the rest, we shield them in a highly durable powder coat finish. This ensures maximum corrosion resistance and excellent protection against scuffs and scratches. The side steps are available in two powder coat finish options, including textured black and silver powder coat. O-Mega II side steps are also made to provide safe, comfortable entry and exit from your vehicle. They feature tough aluminum step pads with protruded circular treads that will never wear or crack. The step pads offer a non-skid surface, and they are finished with a textured black powder coat for lasting corrosion resistance. Also unique to our O-Mega II step pads is their customizable positioning. The pads are packaged unattached from the tubes and mount with self-tapping screws. This allows you to precisely match the layout of your vehicle to suit your preferences. You can mount them to the provided factory specifications or adjust them to a custom placement. The 6" x 2-3/4" tubes are fitted with black TPO plastic end caps, adding a modern, professional look. The end caps are also paintable to allow for even further customization. Each set of O-Mega II side steps is designed for vehicle-specific installation and fitment, using a unique set of mounting brackets. This particular set of side steps fits specific years of the Chevy Express 1500, Express 2500 or Express 3500 and GMC Savana 1500, Savana 2500 or Savana 3500 (see application info to verify fitment). NOTE: Mounting brackets are included but ship separately.

The O-Mega II six-inch oval steps give a wide, flat standing surface in polished stainless or black powder coat, while the Regal 7 seven-inch oval steps go wider still for full-size crew cabs and lifted trucks. The broader running board and side bar range covers round tube, oval and boxed profiles across cab configurations, with treads positioned at the door openings where they are used.
Grille guards protect the front end against impacts, brush and road debris, built in tubular stainless or steel with model-specific brackets that tie into factory frame mounting points. Because the fit is engineered per vehicle, installation is a bolt-on job that does not require drilling or cutting on most applications.

The MEGA Steps model 570344 are designed for 2003 and newer Chevrolet Express and GMC Savana vans with a 135" wheelbase, in 1500, 2500, and 3500 configurations. If your van matches these specifications, the steps will fit. The installation instructions include specific notes for mounting bracket hole selection based on your van model (1500 vans use the top hole; 2500 and 3500 vans use the bottom hole for the U-nuts).
The O-MEGA II 6" Oval Steps (models 583100 and 584100) are listed as a universal application. However, the manual states that you must follow the instructions included with the specific bracket package for your vehicle to mount the brackets. You will need to obtain the correct bracket package for your vehicle before installation can proceed.
The O-MEGA II kit includes: one 33" or 95" aluminum extrusion (silver or black), four step pads, four end caps, 18 square head screws (5/16"-18 X 1"), 18 serrated flange nuts (5/16"-18), and 24 TEK screws (#8-18 X 1/2"). The specific extrusion length and colour depend on your order. All fasteners are provided.
The MEGA Steps kit includes: one 36" or 98" step assembly, four mounting brackets (left front, right front, two centre, and rear), two 3/8"-16 X 5" hex bolts, two 3/8"-16 X 1-3/4" hex bolts, six 3/8"-16 serrated flange nuts, four multi-thread U-nuts, one 5/8" flat washer, two 3/8" flat washers, two cap plugs, two rubber washers, one spacer washer, 16 square head bolts (5/16"-18 X 1"), and 16 hex flange nuts (5/16"-18). Factory fasteners (body mounting bolts, spring shackle bolt nut, washers, and rubber cushions) are reused.
Yes. You must remove six factory body mounting bolts (the manual refers to them as front, second, and rear mounting bolts on both left and right sides). You must also remove the nut and washer from the front spring shackle bolt. All of these factory fasteners and rubber cushions are reused during installation, so save them.
Yes. Before attaching the step pads to the step plates, you must drill five 1/8" pilot holes in each step pad using the holes in the step pad as a guide. This is done for all four step pads. The pilot holes are then used to attach the step pads with TEK screws.
No drilling is required for the MEGA Steps model 570344. Installation uses existing factory body mounting bolt holes and the spring shackle bolt hole. All fastening is done with bolts and nuts into these existing holes.
The nuts on the end caps (item #4) should be tightened to 5 lb ft.
The 5/16" serrated flange nuts on the square head screws (item #5) should be tightened to 19 lb ft.
The factory body mounting bolts should be tightened to 65 lb ft. This applies to all six body mounting bolt locations (front and second mounting brackets on both left and right sides).
The factory spring shackle bolt should be tightened to 65 lb ft after installing the spacer washer, mounting bracket, and flat washer.
The 5/16" serrated flange nuts on the square head screws (item #17) should be tightened to 19 foot pounds of torque. The manual specifies finger tightening only during initial positioning, then final torque after alignment.
1. Install the specific bracket package for your vehicle (follow bracket instructions). 2. Drill five 1/8" pilot holes in each step pad using the pad holes as a guide. 3. Attach step pads to step plates with five TEK screws per pad. 4. Install the required number of square head bolts into the slots in the bottom of the step plates. 5. Install end caps and tighten nuts to 5 lb ft. 6. Position the step on the mounting brackets with square head screws in the bracket slots, centred front to rear. 7. Install serrated flange nuts on the square head screws and tighten to 19 lb ft.
Position the step on the mounting brackets so that the square head screws are located in the slots of the mounting brackets and the step is centred front to rear on the vehicle. Then align the step plate with the bottom of the body sheet metal. The top of the step should be approximately 2-1/2" from the bottom of the body panel. Finger tighten the nuts initially, then measure from the bottom of the body flange down to the bottom of the mounting brackets to ensure they are the same height before final tightening.
Installation proceeds in six main phases: (1) Left side front mounting bracket installation using the factory body mounting bolt, U-nut, and load reaction bolt assembly with a 3/8"-16 X 5" hex bolt. (2) Left side second mounting bracket installation using the factory body mounting bolt, U-nut, cap plug, and load reaction bolt assembly with a 3/8"-16 X 1-3/4" hex bolt. (3) Right side front and second mounting bracket installation (steps 9-16, identical to left side). (4) Height measurement and adjustment of the 6th bracket. (5) Rear mounting bracket installation on the spring shackle bolt with spacer washer. (6) Step plate installation with square head screws and serrated flange nuts, positioned and aligned before final torquing to 19 lb ft.
A load reaction bolt assembly is used to mount the front and second mounting brackets on the MEGA Steps. To install it: (1) Install a 3/8"-16 serrated flange nut on the hex bolt with the flange facing toward the end of the bolt, and turn on just short of the head. (2) Screw the bolt into the U-nut. (3) When the bolt comes through the other side, start another flange nut facing the same direction as the first. (4) Turn the nut on until there is 3/4" protruding from the face of the nut. (5) Install a 3/8" flat washer and the rubber washer into the end of the bolt. (6) Adjust the assembly so the rubber cushion is snug against the frame. (7) Tighten down the outside flange nut. For the front bracket, use a 3/8"-16 X 5" hex bolt; for the second bracket, use a 3/8"-16 X 1-3/4" hex bolt.
Yes. When installing the U-nuts on the mounting brackets, you must select the correct hole based on your van model: install the U-nut in the top hole for 1500 vans, and in the bottom hole for 2500 and 3500 vans. This applies to all four mounting brackets (front and second brackets on both left and right sides).
The factory body mounting bolts, steel washers, and rubber cushions are reused at all six body mounting locations. The factory spring shackle bolt nut is also reused. These fasteners must be saved when removed and reinstalled during the step installation.
The cap plug (item #13, .364 X .625, vinyl, black) is installed onto the end of the U-nut on the second mounting bracket. It serves to cover and protect the end of the U-nut.

Adjust the load reaction bolt assembly so that the rubber cushion (or rubber plug) is snug against the frame before tightening down the outside flange nut. The rubber washer should be compressed slightly to ensure a secure fit.
