Like many LUVERNE side steps and running boards, O-Mega II 6" oval side steps are made to work hard and to do it with style. They are constructed from strong, lightweight, rust-free aluminum, and to truly make them a step up from the rest, we shield them in a highly durable powder coat finish. This ensures maximum corrosion resistance and excellent protection against scuffs and scratches. The side steps are available in two powder coat finish options, including textured black and silver powder coat. O-Mega II side steps are also made to provide safe, comfortable entry and exit from your vehicle. They feature tough aluminum step pads with protruded circular treads that will never wear or crack. The step pads offer a non-skid surface, and they are finished with a textured black powder coat for lasting corrosion resistance. Also unique to our O-Mega II step pads is their customizable positioning. The pads are packaged unattached from the tubes and mount with self-tapping screws. This allows you to precisely match the layout of your vehicle to suit your preferences. You can mount them to the provided factory specifications or adjust them to a custom placement. The 6" x 2-3/4" tubes are fitted with black TPO plastic end caps, adding a modern, professional look. The end caps are also paintable to allow for even further customization. Each set of O-Mega II side steps is designed for vehicle-specific installation and fitment, using a unique set of mounting brackets. This particular set of side steps fits specific years of the Chevy Express 1500, 2500 or 3500 and GMC Savana 1500, 2500 or 3500 (see application info to verify fitment). NOTE: Mounting brackets are included but ship separately.

The broader running board and side bar range covers round tube, oval and boxed profiles across cab configurations, with treads positioned at the door openings where they are used.
Grille guards protect the front end against impacts, brush and road debris, built in tubular stainless or steel with model-specific brackets that tie into factory frame mounting points. Because the fit is engineered per vehicle, installation is a bolt-on job that does not require drilling or cutting on most applications.

Curt manufactures two oval step models: the O-MEGA II 6" Oval Steps (models 583036 and 584036) and the MEGA Steps (model 570340). The O-MEGA II is a universal product available with vehicle-specific bracket packages, while the MEGA Steps are designed specifically for 2003 and newer Chevrolet Express and GMC Savana vans with 135" or 155" wheelbase.
The MEGA Steps (model 570340) fit 2003 and newer Chevrolet Express and GMC Savana vans with 135" or 155" wheelbase cab length only. If your van is an earlier model year or a different make, these steps will not fit. Confirm your van's model year, make, wheelbase, and cab length before purchasing.
The O-MEGA II 6" Oval Steps (models 583036 and 584036) are universal products. Fitment depends on purchasing the correct bracket package for your specific vehicle. The installation instructions state to follow the instructions included with the specific bracket package you are using. Contact Curt or your dealer to identify the correct bracket package for your vehicle.
The O-MEGA II 6" Oval Steps include: two 33.00" aluminum extrusions (available in silver or black), two aluminum step pads, four plastic end caps, sixteen 5/16"-18 square head screws, sixteen 5/16"-18 serrated flange nuts, and ten #8-18 x 1/2" TEK screws. Verify all parts are present before starting installation.
The MEGA Steps include: one 36.00" step assembly, four mounting brackets (left and right front, left and right rear), two 3/8"-16 x 1-1/4" hex head screws, two 3/8"-16 x 5" double-end studs, six 3/8"-16 serrated flange nuts, four 3/8"-16 multi-thread U-nuts, two 0.354 x 1.00 x 0.748" rubber washers, eight 5/16"-18 x 1" square head bolts, and eight 5/16"-18 hex flange nuts. Verify all parts are present before starting installation.
You will need a drill with a 1/8" drill bit for pilot holes, a screwdriver or power drill for installing TEK screws, and a wrench or socket set to tighten the serrated nuts. A torque wrench is required to achieve the specified torque values.
You will need a socket set or wrench to remove and reinstall factory body mounting bolts, a torque wrench calibrated to measure foot-pounds, a wrench or socket for 3/8"-16 and 5/16"-18 fasteners, and a level or straightedge to align the step plate with the body sheet metal. A helper may be useful when positioning the steps on the mounting brackets.
Yes. You must remove the factory body mounting bolts from both the left and right sides of the vehicle. The manual specifies removing the front body mounting bolt first, then the second body mounting bolt. The bolt, steel washer, and rubber cushion from each location will be reused as part of the installation, so retain them carefully.
Place the step pads (item #2) on top of the step plates. Using the holes in the step pad as a guide, drill five 1/8" pilot holes. Attach the step pads with five #8-18 x 1/2" TEK screws (item #6). Repeat this process for all step pads. The pilot holes must be drilled before the TEK screws are installed.
Install the end caps (item #3) as shown in Figure 1 of the manual. Tighten the serrated nuts (item #5) to 5 lb-ft of torque. The end caps are secured with serrated flange nuts that must be torqued to the specified value.
Position the O-MEGA step on the mounting brackets so that the square head screws (item #4) are located in the slots of the mounting brackets and the step is centered front to rear on the vehicle. Install 5/16" serrated flange nuts (item #5) on the square head screws and tighten to 19 lb-ft. Centering the step front to rear is critical for proper alignment.
The installation sequence is: (1) Remove the front body mounting bolt on the left side and retain the bolt, washer, and rubber cushion. (2) Install the multi-thread U-nut and load reaction bolt assembly on the front mounting bracket. (3) Reinstall the front mounting bracket with the factory bolt, washer, and rubber cushion, and tighten to 65 lb-ft. (4) Repeat steps 1-3 for the second (rear) mounting bracket on the left side. (5) Repeat the entire process on the right side. (6) Install four square head screws in the front track of the step plates. (7) Position the steps on the brackets and finger-tighten the nuts. (8) Align the step plate with the body sheet metal. (9) Tighten all step plate bolts to 19 lb-ft.
For the front mounting bracket: Install the multi-thread U-nut (item #14) on the front mounting bracket (item #3), then assemble the 3/8"-16 x 5" stud (item #11), 3/8"-16 serrated flange nut (item #13), and 0.354 x 1.00 x 0.748" rubber washer (item #17) into the U-nut. For the second mounting bracket: Install the multi-thread U-nut on the second mounting bracket (item #5), then assemble the 3/8"-16 x 1-1/4" screw (item #10) and 3/8"-16 serrated flange nut (item #13) into the U-nut. Use the top hole on 1500 vans and the bottom hole on 2500 and 3500 vans for the second bracket.
Install each mounting bracket to its corresponding factory body mount using the original factory bolt, steel washer, and rubber cushion positioned between the mounting bracket and the body mount. The step end of the bracket must be perpendicular to the outside body. Tighten the factory bolt to 65 lb-ft. Then adjust the load reaction bolt assembly so that the rubber cushion is snug against the frame (front bracket) or the end of the bolt is snug against the frame (rear bracket), and tighten the outside flange nut. Repeat for both left and right sides.
Position the MEGA steps on the mounting brackets so that the square head screws are located in the slots of the mounting brackets and the step is centered front to rear on the vehicle. Install 5/16" serrated flange nuts on the square head screws and finger-tighten only at this stage. Do not fully tighten until the step plate is aligned with the body sheet metal.
Align the step plate with the bottom of the body sheet metal. The top of the step should be approximately 2-1/2" from the bottom of the body panel. This alignment must be achieved before the step plate bolts are fully tightened to 19 foot-pounds.
Yes. You must drill five 1/8" pilot holes in each step pad location using the holes in the step pad as a guide. These pilot holes are required before the #8-18 x 1/2" TEK screws can be installed to attach the step pads to the step plates.
The serrated nuts (item #5) securing the end caps (item #3) must be tightened to 5 lb-ft of torque.

The O-MEGA II 6" Oval Steps extrusions are 33.00" long. They are available in silver (part #553068) or black (part #553056) aluminum.
The MEGA Steps assembly (model 575036) is 36.00" long.
The mounting bracket must be positioned so that the step end is perpendicular to the outside body to ensure safe operation. The rubber cushion must be snug against the frame before final tightening to ensure proper load distribution. The step plate must be aligned so that the top of the step is approximately 2-1/2" from the bottom of the body panel. All fasteners must be torqued to the specified values to ensure the steps remain secure during use.
After installation, verify that the step is centered front to rear on the vehicle, all fasteners are tightened to the specified torque values (5 lb-ft for end cap nuts, 19 lb-ft for mounting bolts), the step pads are securely attached with all five TEK screws, and the end caps are properly installed. Check that the steps do not contact any vehicle components and that they are stable when pressure is applied.
