Like many LUVERNE side steps and running boards, O-Mega II 6" oval side steps are made to work hard and to do it with style. They are constructed from strong, lightweight, rust-free aluminum, and to truly make them a step up from the rest, we shield them in a highly durable powder coat finish. This ensures maximum corrosion resistance and excellent protection against scuffs and scratches. The side steps are available in two powder coat finish options, including textured black and silver powder coat. O-Mega II side steps are also made to provide safe, comfortable entry and exit from your vehicle. They feature tough aluminum step pads with protruded circular treads that will never wear or crack. The step pads offer a non-skid surface, and they are finished with a textured black powder coat for lasting corrosion resistance. Also unique to our O-Mega II step pads is their customizable positioning. The pads are packaged unattached from the tubes and mount with self-tapping screws. This allows you to precisely match the layout of your vehicle to suit your preferences. You can mount them to the provided factory specifications or adjust them to a custom placement. The 6" x 2-3/4" tubes are fitted with black TPO plastic end caps, adding a modern, professional look. The end caps are also paintable to allow for even further customization. Each set of O-Mega II side steps is designed for vehicle-specific installation and fitment, using a unique set of mounting brackets. This particular set of side steps fits specific years of the Toyota FJ Cruiser (see application info to verify fitment). NOTE: Mounting brackets are included but ship separately. The O-MEGA II steps are designed for Silverado/Sierra Regular Cab, Dodge Ram Regular Cab, Ford F150 Regular Cab, Ford Super Duty Regular Cab, Tundra Regular Cab, Toyota FJ Cruiser, and Ford Escape. Verify your vehicle model and cab style match this list before purchasing. The manual does not list fitment for crew cabs, extended cabs, or other body styles.
The MEGA Steps Bracket (570553) is designed for 2005 and newer Toyota Tacoma Access and Double Cab Pickups, and 2007 and newer Toyota FJ Cruiser. It uses existing factory M8-1.25 mounting fasteners located on the rocker panel interior. Verify your vehicle model and year before purchasing.
Each O-MEGA II kit includes: 2 aluminum extrusions (silver or black), 4 step pads, 4 plastic end caps, 20 square head screws (5/16-18 x 1"), 20 serrated flange nuts (5/16-18), and 20 tek screws (#8-18 x 1/2"). The specific extrusion part numbers vary by model (553069, 553057, or 553070). Mounting brackets are sold separately and are vehicle-specific.
The MEGA Steps Bracket kit includes: 6 mounting brackets (part 551633), 6 square head screws (5/16-18), 14 serrated flange nuts (5/16-18), 10 M8-1.25 x 25mm hex head cap screws, 10 flat washers (5/16"), and 4 spacer washers (3/8"). The step board assembly is sold separately. The kit uses existing factory M8-1.25 nuts on the vehicle rocker panel.
Yes. The O-MEGA II manual states you must follow the instructions included with your specific bracket package to mount the brackets to your vehicle. Those bracket-specific instructions are not included in this manual. Obtain the bracket installation guide for your vehicle model before starting.
Yes. You must drill five 1/8" holes through the step plate using the step pad as a guide. The holes are then used to attach the step pad with five #8-18 x 1/2" tek screws (provided). This drilling is required for all step pads before attaching the steps to the brackets.
Use the Step Pad Location Guide on page 2 for your specific vehicle model. For example, Silverado/Sierra Regular Cab uses Pad A at 14-3/4", while Ford Escape uses Pad A at 5-1/2" and Pad B at 35-1/2". The manual notes these are suggestions and may be placed at the purchaser's discretion. Position the pads before drilling the attachment holes.
Position the step on the brackets so the square head screws (item #4) are located in the slots of the mounting brackets and the step is centered front to rear on the vehicle. Install 5/16" serrated flange nuts on the square head screws and tighten to 19 lb-ft. The square head bolts must be inserted into the designated slots in the bottom of the step plates before positioning.
Install the plastic end caps (item #3) as shown in Figure 1 and snug up the nuts. Be careful not to deform the plastic during installation. The end caps are installed before attaching the steps to the mounting brackets.
Position the brackets so the holes line up with the 8mm metric nuts in the rocker panel interior. Attach each front bracket with one M8-1.25 x 25mm hex head cap screw and one 5/16" flat washer. Attach each center and rear bracket with two screws, two washers, and one additional 3/8" spacer washer between the bracket and rocker panel. The factory M8-1.25 nuts with slotted plastic plugs are used as the mounting fasteners.
Insert three 5/16" square head screws in the center slot on the underside of the step. Position the step on the brackets so the square head screws are located in the slots and the step is centered front to rear. Locate the step in and out as desired, then install 5/16" serrated flange nuts on the square head screws and tighten to 19 lb-ft. Install serrated flange nuts on any unused square head screws in the inboard slot and tighten to 19 lb-ft.
Tighten the 5/16" serrated flange nuts on the square head screws to 19 lb-ft. This applies to all O-MEGA II step installations.
Tighten the 5/16" serrated flange nuts on the square head screws to 19 lb-ft. This applies to both the center slot screws and any unused inboard slot screws.
Five #8-18 x 1/2" tek screws (part 107958, stainless steel, zinc plated) are used per step pad. These are provided in the kit. The screws are installed through 1/8" holes drilled in the step plate using the step pad as a guide.
M8-1.25 x 25mm zinc-plated hex head cap screws (part 102549) are used with 5/16" flat washers (part 100034). Center and rear brackets also use 3/8" spacer washers (part 100062). The screws attach to existing factory M8-1.25 nuts located on the rocker panel interior.
Be careful not to deform the plastic end caps when snugging up the nuts. The plastic can be damaged by excessive force or improper handling during installation.
