LUVERNE has manufactured truck accessories in the United States since 1963, specialising in grille guards, running boards, side steps and mud guards for pickups, commercial vans and SUVs. Products are built primarily from stainless steel, aluminium and mild steel, with model-specific mounting kits that use existing frame locations for a bolt-on installation.
LUVERNE has been manufacturing automotive accessories in the United States since 1963, and six decades of continuous production have made it a nationally recognised name in the truck accessory market. Now a Lippert brand, it concentrates on a defined set of products rather than spreading across the whole aftermarket: front-end protection, step access and spray protection for pickup trucks, commercial vans and sport utility vehicles.
Step products are the largest part of the catalog and the range is unusually deep, because the right step depends on the vehicle's ride height, the width of the rocker panel and how often people get in and out. The O-Mega II six-inch oval steps give a wide, flat standing surface in polished stainless or black powder coat, while the Regal 7 seven-inch oval steps go wider still for full-size crew cabs and lifted trucks. The broader running board and side bar range covers round tube, oval and boxed profiles across cab configurations, with treads positioned at the door openings where they are used.
Grille guards protect the front end against impacts, brush and road debris, built in tubular stainless or steel with model-specific brackets that tie into factory frame mounting points. Because the fit is engineered per vehicle, installation is a bolt-on job that does not require drilling or cutting on most applications.
Rounding out the line, LUVERNE mud guards and mud flaps shield rocker panels, paint and following vehicles from stones and road spray, in widths matched to the tyre and fender they sit behind. Material choice runs through everything the brand does: stainless steel where appearance and corrosion resistance matter most, aluminium where weight is the priority, and mild steel with protective coating where strength and value lead. Customers include contractors, fleet operators, van upfitters and truck owners.

MEGA STEP Brackets (model 571447) are designed for 2014+ GM 1500 pickups (gas) and 2015 GM 2500/3500HD pickups (gas) with rocker panel mount, no-drill application. They are not universal. Confirm your vehicle year, model, and engine type match these specifications before purchasing. The manual does not list compatibility with other manufacturers or model years.
Yes, O-MEGA II steps are listed as a universal application. However, the step pad positioning must be adjusted for your specific vehicle model and cab style using the positioning guide on the manual. The guide covers Silverado, Sierra, Colorado, Canyon, Avalanche, Suburban, Yukon, Tahoe, Ram, Dodge Dakota, Dodge Durango, Ford F150, Ford Super Duty, Toyota Tundra, and Toyota Tacoma models. Confirm your vehicle is listed before installation.
Each O-MEGA II package includes: 2 step extrusions (aluminum, silver or black, in 69.0", 75.0", or 85.0" lengths), 4 step pads (aluminum, black), 4 end caps (plastic), 24 square head bolts (5/16"-18 x 1"), 24 serrated flange nuts (5/16"-18), and 20 tek screws (#8-18 x 1/2", stainless steel). You must also obtain the appropriate bracket package for your vehicle separately.
The MEGA STEP Brackets package includes: 3 left-side mounting brackets (part 552628), 3 right-side mounting brackets (part 552627), 12 5/16" flat washers, 6 5/16"-18 x 1.0" hex bolts, 6 M8-1.25 serrated flange nuts, 6 5/16"-18 U-nuts, 6 pinch weld support brackets, 12 M8-1.25 x 30 mm hex bolts, 2 inboard spring hanger mounting brackets, 2 outboard spring hanger mounting brackets, 2 3/8"-16 x 2" hex bolts, 4 3/8" flat washers, 4 1/2" flat washers, and 2 3/8"-16 self-locking nuts. The step board is ordered separately.
Yes. You must drill 5 holes of 1/8" diameter through the step plate using the step pad as a guide. These holes are used to attach the step pads with tek screws. The specific location of these holes depends on your vehicle model, as shown in the Step Pad Location Guide. No other drilling is required for the step assembly itself; bracket installation drilling depends on your specific bracket package.
No. MEGA STEP Brackets are a no-drill application. The mounting holes on the brackets align with existing holes on the inside wall of the rocker panel. Fasteners are provided for all applications. However, you must remove plastic body plugs from the rocker panel and may need to use different fasteners depending on whether threaded inserts are present in the upper location.
Use the Step Pad Location Guide on page 2 of the manual. The guide provides two measurements (Pad A and Pad B) for each vehicle model and cab style. These measurements indicate where to position the pads along the length of the step. The note states these are suggestions and may be placed at the purchaser's discretion. Measure from the front of the step to position Pad A, then position Pad B at the specified distance.
1. Verify all parts are present. 2. Follow the instructions for your specific bracket package to mount brackets to the vehicle. 3. Position step pads on the step plates using the vehicle-specific guide, drill 5 holes of 1/8" diameter, and attach with tek screws. 4. Install square head bolts into the designated slots in the bottom of the step plates. 5. Install end caps and tighten nuts to 5 lb-ft. 6. Position the step on the mounting brackets so square head screws are in the bracket slots and the step is centered front to rear. 7. Install serrated flange nuts on the square head screws and tighten to 19 lb-ft.
1. Verify all parts are present. 2. On the left side, remove plastic body plugs from the rocker panel vertical wall and insert 5/16"-18 U-nuts (or use M8-1.25 x 30 mm bolts if threaded inserts are present). 3. Position mounting brackets so holes align with rocker panel inside wall holes; install 5/16"-18 x 1.0" hex bolt and flat washer finger tight. 4. Install M8-1.25 x 30 mm hex bolt, 5/16" flat washer, and pinch weld support finger tight; install M8-1.25 nut finger tight on the back. 5. Repeat for remaining brackets. 6. Attach spring hanger mounting brackets: loosen spring hanger bolt, slide inboard bracket behind the flange, and install outboard bracket with 3/8"-16 bolt, washers, and lock nut finger tight. 7. Install step board per its instructions. 8. Press step down and back; tighten mounting bolts to 19 lb-ft, starting with bottom bolts then top bolts. 9. Repeat for right side.
The nuts on the end caps (item #3) must be tightened to 5 lb-ft.
The 5/16" serrated flange nuts (item #5) that secure the square head screws (item #4) to the mounting brackets must be tightened to 19 lb-ft.
After pressing the step down and back, tighten the mounting bolts to 19 lb-ft. Start with the bottom bolts, then tighten the top bolts. This applies to both the left and right sides of the vehicle.
If threaded inserts are present in the upper location of the rocker panel, use the black M8-1.25 x 30 mm bolts (item #9) instead of the 5/16"-18 U-nuts. The manual notes that the hole configuration may change depending on the vehicle, and fasteners are provided for all applications.
Leave fasteners finger tight during the initial assembly steps. Specifically: install the 5/16"-18 x 1.0" hex bolt and flat washer finger tight (step 3), install the M8-1.25 x 30 mm hex bolt, flat washer, and nut finger tight (step 4), and install the spring hanger mounting bracket fasteners (3/8"-16 bolt, washers, and lock nut) finger tight (step 6.2). Only after installing the step board and pressing the step down and back should you tighten all mounting bolts to 19 lb-ft.
Loosen the spring hanger bolt just enough so that the inboard spring hanger mounting bracket (item #10) can be slid up behind the flange of the bolt. Position the bracket behind the flange with the channel open to the outboard side. Leave it finger tight at this time. The outboard bracket (item #11) is then installed using a 3/8"-16 bolt, 3/8" washer, 1/2" washer, and 3/8" lock nut, with the inboard vertical portion of the outboard bracket fitting inside the channel of the inboard bracket.
After pressing the step down and back, tighten the mounting bolts to 19 lb-ft. Start with the bottom bolts first, then tighten the top bolts. This sequence applies to both the left and right sides of the vehicle.
CURT Group recommends regular inspection and maintenance of the leaf spring attachment point per GM Technical Service Bulletin 09-03-09-001E: Clunking Noise from Rear of Vehicle (Re-torque Leaf Spring Bolts) for 2007-2017 Chevrolet and GMC trucks. Failure to regularly inspect and maintain factory-recommended torque values may result in damage to the vehicle. This is critical because the MEGA STEP Brackets are mounted to the spring hanger.
You must drill 5 holes of 1/8" diameter through each step plate. Use the step pad as a guide to position the holes correctly. The holes are used to attach the step pads with #8-18 x 1/2" tek screws.
Five #8-18 x 1/2" tek screws (item #6, stainless steel, zinc plated) are used per step pad. These are provided in the package (20 total screws for 4 pads). The screws are installed through 1/8" diameter holes drilled using the step pad as a guide.
5/16"-18 square head bolts (item #4, 24 total) and 5/16" serrated flange nuts (item #5, 24 total) are used. The square head bolts are installed into the designated slots in the bottom of the step plates and then inserted into the slots of the mounting brackets. The serrated flange nuts are tightened to 19 lb-ft.
Two types of fasteners are used depending on the rocker panel configuration: (1) 5/16"-18 U-nuts (item #7, 6 total) inserted into plastic body plug holes on the rocker panel vertical wall, or (2) black M8-1.25 x 30 mm bolts (item #9, 12 total) if threaded inserts are present. Additionally, 5/16"-18 x 1.0" hex bolts (item #5, 6 total) and 5/16" flat washers (item #4, 12 total) are used, along with M8-1.25 serrated flange nuts (item #6, 6 total) and pinch weld support brackets (item #8, 6 total).
The spring hanger mounting brackets use 3/8"-16 x 2" hex bolts (item #12, 2 total), 3/8" flat washers (item #13, 4 total), 1/2" flat washers (item #14, 4 total), and 3/8"-16 self-locking nuts (item #15, 2 total). These fasteners are left finger tight during assembly and tightened to 19 lb-ft after the step board is installed and pressed down and back.
MEGA STEP Brackets (571447) fit 2014+ GM 1500 pickups (gas) and 2015 GM 2500/3500HD pickups (gas) only. O-MEGA II steps (583072, 583078, 583088, 584072, 584078, 584088) are universal but require vehicle-specific step pad positioning.
For O-MEGA II steps: yes, drill 5 holes of 1/8" diameter per step pad. For MEGA STEP Brackets: no, it is a no-drill application. Bracket installation drilling depends on your specific bracket package.
O-MEGA II end cap nuts: 5 lb-ft. O-MEGA II serrated flange nuts: 19 lb-ft. MEGA STEP Brackets mounting bolts: 19 lb-ft (bottom bolts first, then top bolts). Spring hanger bolts must be maintained per GM Technical Service Bulletin 09-03-09-001E.
No. For MEGA STEP Brackets, leave rocker panel and spring hanger fasteners finger tight during assembly. Tighten all mounting bolts to 19 lb-ft only after installing the step board and pressing the step down and back.
The manual does not specify required tools. You will need a drill with a 1/8" bit for O-MEGA II step pads, wrenches for the fasteners listed, and a torque wrench to achieve the specified torque values (5 lb-ft and 19 lb-ft). Consult the manufacturer if you need a complete tool list.
For MEGA STEP Brackets on GM trucks, regularly inspect and maintain the leaf spring attachment point per GM Technical Service Bulletin 09-03-09-001E. Failure to maintain factory-recommended torque values may result in vehicle damage.
