The O-MEGA II 6" Oval Steps package includes two aluminum extrusions (available in silver or black, in lengths of 95.0", 99.0", 105.0", 111.0", or 122.0"), step pads, end caps, square head bolts, serrated flange nuts, and TEK screws. The exact extrusion length and colour depend on your specific model number (583098, 583102, 583108, 583114, 583125, 584098, 584102, 584114, or 584125). Refer to the service parts list for the complete hardware inventory.
The 571729 W2W MEGA STEP/SES bracket is designed for 2017+ Ford Super Duty Pickups with rocker panel mount. If you are installing on a Regular Cab or Super Cab, there will be two unused brackets in the kit. The installation instructions confirm the brackets are supplied for all cab styles, but only some will be used depending on your truck configuration.
Step pad positions vary by vehicle model and cab style. The manual provides specific measurements for Pad A and Pad B locations for Silverado/Sierra (Double, Extended, and Crew Cab), Chevrolet Express and GMC Savana vans, RAM (Quad, Crew, and Mega Cab), and Ford F150 and Super Duty models. Consult the Step Pad Location Guide on page 2 for your specific vehicle. Note: these locations are suggestions and may be placed at the purchaser's discretion.
Yes. The manual states you must follow the instructions included with the specific bracket package you are using to mount the brackets to your vehicle. The O-MEGA II steps themselves are universal, but the brackets are vehicle-specific. You must obtain and follow the bracket package instructions before attaching the steps.
Yes. You must drill five 1/8" holes in each step plate to attach the step pads. Use the step pad as a guide and drill the holes before attaching the pads with the provided 8-18×1/2" TEK screws. This drilling is required for all step pads.
Yes. The 571729 W2W MEGA STEP/SES bracket for 2017+ Ford Super Duty Pickups is a no-drill application. It uses factory-provided studs on the inside of the rocker panel for mounting, eliminating the need for drilling into the vehicle.
Step pads are attached using five 8-18×1/2" TEK screws (Item #6, stainless steel, zinc-plated). These screws are inserted through holes you drill in the step plates. Five screws are required per step pad.
For rocker panel mounting of the 571729 brackets, you need: two 1.5" nylon isolator washers (Item #3) and two M8-1.25 flange nuts (Item #4) per bracket. These attach to the factory-provided studs on the inside of the rocker panel. The kit includes 12 washers and 12 nuts total (for up to six brackets).
The nuts securing the end caps (Item #3) must be tightened to 5 lb-ft.
The 5/16" serrated flange nuts (Item #5) securing the square head screws (Item #4) to the mounting brackets must be tightened to 19 lb-ft.
The rear inboard bracket (Item #8) installed on the spring shackle must be adjusted to be vertical and tightened to 80 lb-ft.
Before attaching the step pads to the step plates, use the Step Pad Location Guide on page 2 to determine the correct position for your vehicle. The manual notes that due to the shortness of some boxes, you should mount the box step pad first, approximately 1/2" from the end cap, then mount the middle step pad accordingly. Pad positions vary significantly by vehicle model and cab style.
1. Install two 1.5" isolator washers, the step mounting bracket, and two M8-1.25 flange nuts on the factory studs on the inside of the rocker panel (left side). 2. Repeat for remaining brackets. 3. Check that all brackets are level and tighten all flange nuts. 4. Loosen the spring shackle nut and bolt just enough to slip the rear inboard bracket behind the nut (do not remove completely). Adjust to vertical and tighten to 80 lb-ft. 5. Install the outboard bracket using two 5/16-18×1" bolts, two 5/16" flat washers, and two 5/16-18 flange nuts; leave loose. 6. Attach the step board per its instructions. 7. Adjust and tighten the rear outboard bracket. 8. Repeat for the right side.
No. When installing the outboard bracket (Item #10) using the 5/16-18×1" bolts, flat washers, and flange nuts, you must leave this bracket loose at this time. It is adjusted and tightened only after the step board is attached and positioned.
Loosen the nut and bolt on the spring shackle just enough to slip the rear inboard bracket (Item #8) behind the nut. On the passenger side, you must loosen the nut and slide the bolt outward to install the bracket. Do not remove the bolt completely as this could result in injury. Adjust the bracket so it is vertical and tighten to 80 lb-ft.
Position the O-MEGA step on the mounting brackets so that the square head screws (Item #4) are located in the slots of the mounting brackets and the step is centered front to rear on the vehicle. Then install the 5/16" serrated flange nuts on the square head screws and tighten to 19 lb-ft.
The outboard bracket (Item #10) is installed using two 5/16-18×1" bolts (Item #6), two 5/16" flat washers (Item #7), and two 5/16-18 flange nuts (Item #5). The bracket should be left loose initially and tightened only after the step board is attached and positioned.
