Want to take the family on a cross-country adventure? Or perhaps you're planning a shorter trip to your favorite campground. Whatever your destination, it's important to have the right equipment, especially when towing a fifth wheel trailer. To ensure proper hookup and safety while towing, you'll need something to attach your fifth wheel hitch in the bed on your truck. Many pickups come equipped with factory-installed rails or puck systems, but if you don't have one of these already installed, don't worry. REESE has an extensive line of mounting rails and bracket kits, custom-made to the exact specifications needed based on your truck's year, make, and model. REESE also offers several Industry Standard designs, as well as fastener kits, spacer kits, and a Power Puck mounting kit, so you can be sure you're covered, no matter what pickup you're using to tow. So make it easy. Make it fun. Make it REESE, so you can make the journey as enjoyable as the destination.

Reese has designed towing equipment since 1952 and remains a benchmark for heavy-duty towing. The line covers fifth wheel hitches such as the modular M5, gooseneck couplers including the Goose Box, air-ride and short-bed pin boxes, weight distribution systems with active sway control, and the accessories that connect them, all built to exceed published industry standards.
Reese has been pioneering towing performance since 1952, when Margaret Reese asked her husband TJ to stop travel trailers rocking every time somebody walked through them. His answer, the first pair of stabilising jacks, was simple and effective enough to change the RV industry. From that starting point Reese grew into a designer and manufacturer of complete towing systems, and today it anchors the heavy-duty end of the Horizon Global towing portfolio.
Fifth wheel towing is where the brand's engineering is most visible. The M5 fifth wheel hitch uses a modular design that breaks into manageable sections for assembly, with a wider stance, tighter tolerances and a shock absorption system aimed at the jolts that travel up through a truck bed. For owners who would rather tow from a gooseneck coupler and keep the bed clear, the Goose Box 20K replaces the trailer's king pin with a gooseneck connection carrying its own air-ride cushioning.
Pin boxes are a Reese speciality. The 5th Airborne uses air-ride technology to dampen road shock and reduce the chucking motion that makes fifth wheel towing tiring, while the Sidewinder was designed for short-bed pickups, pivoting the connection point so the trailer can turn sharply without the front cap meeting the cab.
For conventional towing, Reese weight distribution systems restore load to the tow vehicle's front axle and control sway. The Pro Round Bar distributes weight evenly while damping sway, and the Pro Dual Cam II uses active cam-based sway control that works harder the stronger the sway force becomes. Complete kits pair bars, head and shank to a rated tongue weight, and dedicated sway control kits can be added to existing setups. The products suit RV owners, horse and livestock haulers and anyone towing near the upper end of a vehicle's rating.

Yes, the 56017 Custom Quick Install Mounting Kit is designed for Ford F-250, F-350, and F-450 Super Duty trucks. However, do not install this product on or attempt to tow with a truck with a 5-1/2' bed unless a sidewinder pin box coupler has been installed on the trailer. Always measure your truck and trailer before installing to ensure clearance at the cab and bumper for turns.
No, do not install this product on or attempt to tow with a truck with a 5-1/2' bed unless a sidewinder pin box coupler has been installed on the trailer. If your truck has a 5-1/2' bed and your trailer does not have a sidewinder pin box coupler, you cannot use this kit.
The following tools are required: wrenches (3/4" and 15/16"), drill bits (1/8", 9/16", and 1-1/8"), center punch, measuring tape, and torque wrench. All bolts and nuts are Grade 8 unless otherwise specified, and only the bolts, nuts, and washers supplied with the kit should be used for installation.
The kit includes 11 bolts total and comes with fastener kit 56017F. Specific hardware includes: 4× 5/8-11 x 4-1/4" Grade 8 hex head bolts (6), 4× 5/8-11 Grade 8 nuts (7), 4× 5/8 flat washers (8), 4× 5/8 conical washers (9), 3× 1/2-13 x 5.50" Grade 8 carriage bolts (2), 5× 1/2 x 1-1/2 x 2-1/4" spacer blocks (3), 12× 1/4 x 1 x 2" U-shaped spacers (4), 3× 1/4 x 1-1/2 x 3" spacer blocks (5), 11× 1/2-13 Grade 5 nuts (13), and 11× 1/2" conical washers (14). Additional fasteners (1/2-13 carriage bolts and nuts/washers) are supplied with the 30153 rail kit.
You may need to lower and remove the spare tire if extra room is needed for installation. If your truck is equipped with inner plastic wheel well liners, you must remove them to allow access to the frame. After installation, you can replace the spare tire and inner plastic wheel well liner.
No. Do not install mounting rails over plastic bed liners. Plastic bed liners must be cut out of the way to provide metal-to-metal contact. However, mounting rails may be installed on spray-in liners. Metal-to-metal contact is essential to prevent corrosion between the mounting rails and truck bed.
Yes, drilling is required. You will drill 1/8" pilot holes first, then enlarge all rail bolt holes to 9/16". For Row 3 holes in the truck bed only (not the crossmember), you will enlarge them to 1-1/8". The manual emphasizes: ensure the 1/8" holes drilled in Row 3 pass through both the truck bed and the truck bed crossmember, but do not enlarge the hole in the truck bed crossmember to 1-1/8". When drilling, be aware of potential risks to vehicle components above and below the truck bed and take appropriate safeguards to protect them from damage.
Three drill bit sizes are required: 1/8" (for initial pilot holes), 9/16" (to enlarge all rail bolt holes), and 1-1/8" (to enlarge Row 3 holes in the truck bed only, not the crossmember).
Yes. Paint all bare metal after drilling. Additionally, repaint any areas where holes were drilled through the bed. This is important because contact between bare steel components (frame mounting brackets, U-shaped spacers, mounting rails) and bare aluminum bed may cause corrosion over time.
Torque all 1/2" Grade 8 hardware to 110 ft-lbs. Torque all 5/8" Grade 8 hardware to 212 ft-lbs. First torque the bed mounting rails to the frame brackets, then torque the frame brackets to the truck frame. This two-stage torque sequence ensures proper fastener tension.
Under no circumstances should you exceed the towing vehicle manufacturer's recommended vehicle towing capacity. Refer to the mounting bracket rating label for the correct towing capacity. The kit itself does not specify a capacity; you must follow your truck manufacturer's specifications.
Check mounting system bolt tightness once per year. This annual inspection helps ensure the fasteners remain properly tightened and the system remains secure. Save your warranty sheet and receipt for any future support.
Galvanic isolator strips prevent corrosion between the mounting rails and aluminum truck bed. Contact between bare steel components (frame mounting brackets, U-shaped spacers, mounting rails) and bare aluminum bed causes corrosion over time. The kit includes galvanic isolator strips (1, 10, 12) and patches (11) that must be installed on all surfaces that will contact the truck bed. These provide an extra layer of protection beyond paint.
Place galvanic isolator strips on the ends of the bent tabs on the mounting bracket that come into contact with the truck bed. Place them on the end of the bent tabs and fold them around the end of the tab, ensuring that at least 3/4" of isolator strip is on the top side of the bracket. This positioning protects the critical contact surfaces from corrosion.
The rear mounting rail should be positioned 29-1/8" from the rear edge of the truck bed. Center the rail between the weld seams on the length of the truck box floor or the wheel well. Use a measuring tape to ensure accurate positioning before marking and drilling holes.
This rail mounting kit uses 11 bolts total. The bolts are distributed across the rear and front mounting rails, with specific bolt types and sizes used in different locations as detailed in the installation instructions.
Tube spacers (item 18) are placed in the Row 3 bolt locations to provide proper spacing and support for the carriage bolts that pass through the truck bed crossmember. They work in conjunction with 1/2 x 1-1/2 x 2-1/4" spacer blocks (item 3) and galvanic isolator patches to ensure proper load distribution and corrosion protection.
Place the unassembled 5th wheel legs/slider/goose into the already installed rear mounting rail. Position the second (front) mounting rail with the legs/slider/goose by inserting the tabs into the mounting rail and pushing the mounting rail tight towards the other mounting rail. Ensure that the mounting rail is centered between the weld seams on the length of the truck box floor. If more than one hitch product will be used with the rails, both should be used at the same time to align the second rail, ensuring that one product does not compromise the fit of the other.
First torque the bed mounting rails to the frame brackets, then torque the frame brackets to the truck frame. This two-stage sequence ensures proper load distribution and fastener tension. Torque all 1/2" Grade 8 hardware to 110 ft-lbs and all 5/8" Grade 8 hardware to 212 ft-lbs.
Yes, the 56017 fits Ford F-250, F-350, and F-450 Super Duty. Do not use on 5-1/2' beds unless a sidewinder pin box coupler is installed on the trailer.
Yes. You will drill 1/8" pilot holes, enlarge rail bolt holes to 9/16", and enlarge Row 3 truck bed holes to 1-1/8" (do not enlarge the crossmember hole). Paint all bare metal after drilling.
You need wrenches (3/4" and 15/16"), drill bits (1/8", 9/16", 1-1/8"), center punch, measuring tape, and torque wrench.
No. Plastic bed liners must be cut away for metal-to-metal contact. Spray-in liners are acceptable.
Torque all 1/2" Grade 8 hardware to 110 ft-lbs and all 5/8" Grade 8 hardware to 212 ft-lbs. Torque bed rails to frame brackets first, then brackets to truck frame.
Check mounting system bolt tightness once per year to ensure fasteners remain properly tightened and the system remains secure.
Galvanic isolator strips prevent corrosion between steel mounting components and the aluminum truck bed. They must be installed on all surfaces that contact the bed.
If the 1/8" pilot holes do not align with the slots of the frame brackets (16) and (17), first try adjusting the frame brackets as needed. If adjustment does not achieve alignment, you must restart the installation at step 4: remove the rails and brackets, re-drill the pilot holes in the correct locations, and repeat the alignment check. Proper alignment is critical before enlarging holes to 9/16".
