Tekonsha is a leading manufacturer of electronic trailer brake controllers, pioneering the category in the 1970s. The lineup spans proportional units such as the Prodigy P3 and Prodigy iD, time-delayed controllers, the wireless Prodigy RF, plus vehicle-specific wiring harnesses, adapters and trailer brake components engineered for smooth, predictable stopping at any speed.
Tekonsha Engineering Company began in 1964 building RV steps and mirrors. Within a few years it had found its real calling, and by the 1970s Tekonsha was pioneering the manufacture of electronic trailer brake controllers, the product category that still defines the brand. More than half a century later it remains the reference name in trailer braking and is part of the Horizon Global group alongside Reese, Draw-Tite, Fulton, Bulldog and Wesbar.
A brake controller is the component that tells a trailer's electric brakes how hard to work and when, and getting that right is the difference between a controlled stop and a shove from behind. Tekonsha builds both major types. Proportional controllers use an internal accelerometer to sense how quickly the tow vehicle is slowing and apply trailer braking to match, so light braking stays light and hard braking is immediate. Time-delayed controllers ramp to a preset output over a fixed interval, a simpler and more economical approach that suits occasional towing.
The current brake controller range covers most of that ground. The Prodigy iD pairs with a phone through Tekonsha's EDGE technology for setup and monitoring, the P3 offers storable settings for multiple trailers and a trilingual colour LED display, the Prodigy P2 adds a dimmable display and boost mode for heavier loads, and the Voyager keeps operation simple and dependable. The Prodigy RF mounts to the trailer itself and controls wirelessly, which suits rental fleets and drivers who swap tow vehicles.
Installation is supported by vehicle-specific brake control harnesses that plug into a factory connector rather than requiring cut-and-splice wiring, along with mounting brackets and adapters. Matched controller bundles pair a unit with the correct harness. Products are tested to meet and often exceed published industry standards.

The Tekonsha Tow Harness, 7-Way, w/Circuit Protected ModuLite HD Module TK118265 (Part #TK118265) fits 2012-2015 Honda Pilot models. The 2015 model year is the last year covered by this part number. For newer models, check for an updated version.
The Tekonsha Tow Harness, 7-Way, w/Circuit Protected ModuLite HD Module TK118265 (Part #TK118265) Refer to the included instructions for installation details. Basic hand tools are typically all you need.
The T-Connector is a trailer tow wiring harness for Honda Pilot vehicles. It provides electrical connections between your vehicle and a trailer, allowing trailer lights (stop, turn, tail, backup), power circuits, and trailer brake signals to function. The system uses a black box-module mounted inside the vehicle and connects to the vehicle's factory tow plug and fuse box.
Yes, the T-Connector 118265-037 is designed for Honda Pilot vehicles. The manual does not specify model years or trim variants, so contact the manufacturer or your installer to confirm your specific Pilot model is compatible.
You need two tools: a trim panel remover and a test-probe. The trim panel remover is used to carefully remove the interior trim panel to access the factory tow plug. The test-probe is used to verify electrical connections during and after installation.
The kit includes: two black relays (required for operation), a relay and fuse harness with a black connector, a black box-module, cable ties for securing the harness, and fuses for the vehicle fuse box. The kit does not include a bracket for securing the 7-way tow harness to the hitch; you must source this separately.
Yes, two black relays are included in the kit. These relays must be inserted into the black connector on the relay and fuse harness before installation. Do not use relays other than those included, as different relays can cause the unit to malfunction or damage the vehicle and trailer.
Mount the black box-module in a flat, out-of-the-way location inside the vehicle interior only. The surface must be free of moisture and positioned high enough to prevent direct contact with water or liquid. Never mount the module on the exterior or in areas exposed to elements or moisture, as this causes serious damage to the vehicle and module.
Open the rear door and push the rear seat forward. On the driver's side, use a trim panel remover to carefully remove the compartment door labeled 'AUX FUSE'. The vehicle's white trailer tow plug is located behind this trim panel.
The vehicle fuse box is located in the engine compartment on the driver's side. Fuses from the T-Connector kit must be inserted into specific positions shown in the manual diagram.
The large grey housing containing the tow plug is located under the vehicle bumper on the driver's side. Remove the protective cap carefully without breaking the locking tabs. Ensure mating surfaces are clean before plugging in the towing harness.
Locate the large grey housing under the driver-side bumper. Remove the protective cap without breaking the locking tabs. Clean the mating surfaces of dirt. Plug the towing harness into the grey tow plug, being careful not to damage the locking tabs. Ensure connectors are fully inserted with locking tabs in place.
Route the T-Connector harness rearward to the back of the bumper fascia. Avoid hot pipes, heat shields, the fuel tank, and any other points that may pinch or break the wire. Secure the harness under the bumper with the cable ties provided, being careful not to cut or pinch the wire.
No, the bracket is not included with the T-Connector kit. You must source and install a bracket separately to secure the 7-way tow harness to your hitch.
Reinstall the access door, rear cargo door, and any other items removed during installation, being careful not to pinch or cut the wires. Then test and verify the installation using a test light or by connecting an actual trailer. For the initial test, reset the vehicle electrical system by temporarily removing the key from the ignition.
After all connections are complete, test and verify the installation using a test light or by connecting an actual trailer. For the initial test, reset the vehicle electrical system by temporarily removing the key from the ignition. All connections must be complete for the T-Connector to function properly.
Do not exceed the lower of your vehicle manufacturer's rating or these limits: stop/turn lights 2 per side (4.2 amps total), tail lights (15 amps), backup lights (7.5 amps), power circuit (15 amps), and trailer brakes for 3 axles/6 brakes (18 amps). Overloading the circuit can cause fires. Consult your vehicle's owner's manual for additional information.
Wear safety glasses during installation. Do not use relays other than those included, as they can damage the vehicle and trailer. Route the harness away from hot pipes, heat shields, and the fuel tank to prevent pinching or breaking the wire. Secure the harness with cable ties to prevent rattling and damage. Do not mount the black box-module on the exterior or in moisture-exposed areas.
No. The manual explicitly states that using relays that differ from the included relays can result in the unit not functioning or may damage the vehicle and/or trailer. You must use only the two black relays provided in the kit.
No, the bracket for securing the 7-way tow harness to the hitch is not included and must be sourced separately.
