Tekonsha is a leading manufacturer of electronic trailer brake controllers, pioneering the category in the 1970s. The lineup spans proportional units such as the Prodigy P3 and Prodigy iD, time-delayed controllers, the wireless Prodigy RF, plus vehicle-specific wiring harnesses, adapters and trailer brake components engineered for smooth, predictable stopping at any speed.
Tekonsha Engineering Company began in 1964 building RV steps and mirrors. Within a few years it had found its real calling, and by the 1970s Tekonsha was pioneering the manufacture of electronic trailer brake controllers, the product category that still defines the brand. More than half a century later it remains the reference name in trailer braking and is part of the Horizon Global group alongside Reese, Draw-Tite, Fulton, Bulldog and Wesbar.
A brake controller is the component that tells a trailer's electric brakes how hard to work and when, and getting that right is the difference between a controlled stop and a shove from behind. Tekonsha builds both major types. Proportional controllers use an internal accelerometer to sense how quickly the tow vehicle is slowing and apply trailer braking to match, so light braking stays light and hard braking is immediate. Time-delayed controllers ramp to a preset output over a fixed interval, a simpler and more economical approach that suits occasional towing.
The current brake controller range covers most of that ground. The Prodigy iD pairs with a phone through Tekonsha's EDGE technology for setup and monitoring, the P3 offers storable settings for multiple trailers and a trilingual colour LED display, the Prodigy P2 adds a dimmable display and boost mode for heavier loads, and the Voyager keeps operation simple and dependable. The Prodigy RF mounts to the trailer itself and controls wirelessly, which suits rental fleets and drivers who swap tow vehicles.
Installation is supported by vehicle-specific brake control harnesses that plug into a factory connector rather than requiring cut-and-splice wiring, along with mounting brackets and adapters. Matched controller bundles pair a unit with the correct harness. Products are tested to meet and often exceed published industry standards.

The Tekonsha Tow Harness, 7-Way, w/Circuit Protected ModuLite HD Module TK118291 (Part #TK118291) fits 2019-2025 Honda Passport models. The 2025 model year is the last year covered by this part number. For newer models, check for an updated version.
The Tekonsha Tow Harness, 7-Way, w/Circuit Protected ModuLite HD Module TK118291 (Part #TK118291) Drilling is required for installation. Basic hand tools are typically all you need.
The T-One® Connector is a trailer tow harness system that integrates with your vehicle's factory tow plug connector to provide a 7-way connector outlet for trailer lighting and brake control. It includes a black box-module, a 7-way connector with seven color-coded wires (green tail, black +12V battery, brown right/stop, red left/stop, white ground, blue trailer brakes, yellow backup), and the necessary fuses and hardware for installation.
The manual shows Honda Passport as a compatible application. However, the manual does not provide a complete list of compatible vehicles or model years. Contact the manufacturer or your installer to confirm fitment for your specific vehicle year and configuration.
Yes. The T-One® Connector is designed to insert into your vehicle's existing factory tow plug connector, which is located on the driver's side of the rear cargo area. The installation instructions require locating and accessing this mating tow plug connector. If your vehicle does not have a factory tow plug connector, this product will not be compatible.
Required tools are: trim panel remover, 10 mm and 8 mm socket and ratchet (or 10 mm and 8 mm wrench), drill with 3/32" drill bit, wire crimpers, wire cutters, Phillips head screwdriver, and test-probe. You will also need safety glasses.
The package includes: the connector harness with black box-module, a 7-way connector with seven color-coded wires, a white ground wire with eyelet and screw, cable ties, a black round connector for terminal insertion, the 7-way socket connector, and three fuses (20A for Trl Charge, 20A for Trailer E-Brake, and 30A for Trailer Main). The 7-way connector mounting bracket and electrical box are not included.
On the driver's side of the rear cargo area, you must remove: all floor coverings and cargo trays, the cargo bin, cargo hooks (using an 8 mm socket and Phillips screwdriver), and the side panel. The manual also instructs you to remove the existing plug that covers the tow connector area.
Insert the connector harness into the vehicle's factory tow plug connector and lock it into place. Before doing so, ensure all connector surfaces are clean and free of dirt. Be careful not to damage the locking tabs, and verify that the connectors are fully inserted with locking tabs in place.
Mount the black box-module on a flat surface in an out-of-the-way location inside the vehicle to prevent damage or rattling. The manual does not specify an exact location, so choose a secure spot that will not interfere with vehicle operation or passenger safety.
Yes. You must drill a 3/32" hole to secure the white ground wire using the eyelet and screw provided. However, you may avoid drilling if you locate an existing ground stud near the connector to use instead. Before drilling, verify what is behind the surface to avoid damage to the vehicle or personal injury. Do not drill into the vehicle floor or bed, and do not drill into any exposed surfaces. Clean dirt and rustproofing from the area before securing the wire.
Remove the existing plug and route the 7-way harness end with the terminals behind the trim panel to the grommet area. Thread the 7-way harness through the grommet hole and seat the grommet inside the hole. Continue routing the 7-way harness to the center of the vehicle. Then route the harness containing the 7 wires along the inside of the bumper toward the center of the vehicle to your chosen 7-way mounting location. Secure the harness with the provided cable ties, being careful to avoid areas that would pinch, cut, or melt the wire.
The seven wires are: green (tail), black (+12V battery), brown (right/stop), red (left/stop), white (ground), blue (trailer brakes), and yellow (backup). These wires must be inserted into the provided black round connector in the correct positions as shown in the 7-way connector diagram. The diagram is labeled on the manual with wire insertion side indicated.
Insert the terminals into the provided black round connector. This connector will mate with the provided 7-way socket connector. Refer to the 7-way connector diagram in the manual for the correct wire locations. The diagram shows the wire insertion side and identifies each wire color and its function.
Mount the 7-way socket connector in an accessible location using a bracket or electrical box (not included with the product). The manual does not specify a particular location, so choose a spot that is easy to reach when connecting a trailer. Secure the remainder of the harness with the provided cable ties to prevent damage or rattling, being careful to avoid areas that would pinch, cut, or melt the wire.
Three fuses are included with the T-One® Connector package. Install them in the vehicle's fuse box on the driver's side near the rear of the firewall: position #11 (20A Trl Charge), position #3 (20A Trailer E-Brake), and position #2 (30A Trailer Main). Unlatch the fuse door to access the fuse area, insert the fuses in these positions, and latch the fuse box closed.
Reinstall all plastic trim panels, threshold, storage covers, floor coverings, and other items that were removed during installation, being careful not to pinch or cut the wires. Then test and verify the installation with a test light or by connecting an actual trailer. For the initial test, reset the vehicle electrical system by temporarily removing the key from the ignition.
Always wear safety glasses during installation. Read and follow all warnings and instructions included with the product before beginning. Verify what is behind any surface before drilling to avoid damage to the vehicle or personal injury. Do not drill into the vehicle floor, bed, or any exposed surfaces. Be careful not to pinch, cut, or melt wires during routing. Read and follow all warnings and cautions printed on the tow vehicle's battery. Do not exceed the lower of the towing manufacturer's rating (including in your vehicle owner's manual) or the specific amperage ratings stated on the product, as overloading circuits can cause fires.
Test and verify the installation with a test light or by connecting an actual trailer once all components are installed. For the initial test, reset the vehicle electrical system by temporarily removing the key from the ignition. All connections must be complete for the T-One® Connector to function properly.
The T-One® Connector requires a factory tow plug connector on the driver's side of your rear cargo area. The manual shows Honda Passport as compatible, but does not list all compatible vehicles. Confirm fitment with the manufacturer or your installer before purchasing.
Yes, you must drill a 3/32" hole for the ground wire unless you can use an existing ground stud. Before drilling, verify what is behind the surface. Do not drill into the vehicle floor, bed, or exposed surfaces.
Three fuses are included: 20A Trl Charge (position #11), 20A Trailer E-Brake (position #3), and 30A Trailer Main (position #2). Install them in the vehicle's fuse box on the driver's side near the firewall.
Yes. You must remove floor coverings, cargo trays, cargo bin, cargo hooks, and side panels to access the factory tow connector. You will also route the 7-way harness behind trim panels and through a grommet. All removed items must be reinstalled after installation.
