Tekonsha is a leading manufacturer of electronic trailer brake controllers, pioneering the category in the 1970s. The lineup spans proportional units such as the Prodigy P3 and Prodigy iD, time-delayed controllers, the wireless Prodigy RF, plus vehicle-specific wiring harnesses, adapters and trailer brake components engineered for smooth, predictable stopping at any speed.
Tekonsha Engineering Company began in 1964 building RV steps and mirrors. Within a few years it had found its real calling, and by the 1970s Tekonsha was pioneering the manufacture of electronic trailer brake controllers, the product category that still defines the brand. More than half a century later it remains the reference name in trailer braking and is part of the Horizon Global group alongside Reese, Draw-Tite, Fulton, Bulldog and Wesbar.
A brake controller is the component that tells a trailer's electric brakes how hard to work and when, and getting that right is the difference between a controlled stop and a shove from behind. Tekonsha builds both major types. Proportional controllers use an internal accelerometer to sense how quickly the tow vehicle is slowing and apply trailer braking to match, so light braking stays light and hard braking is immediate. Time-delayed controllers ramp to a preset output over a fixed interval, a simpler and more economical approach that suits occasional towing.
The current brake controller range covers most of that ground. The Prodigy iD pairs with a phone through Tekonsha's EDGE technology for setup and monitoring, the P3 offers storable settings for multiple trailers and a trilingual colour LED display, the Prodigy P2 adds a dimmable display and boost mode for heavier loads, and the Voyager keeps operation simple and dependable. The Prodigy RF mounts to the trailer itself and controls wirelessly, which suits rental fleets and drivers who swap tow vehicles.
Installation is supported by vehicle-specific brake control harnesses that plug into a factory connector rather than requiring cut-and-splice wiring, along with mounting brackets and adapters. Matched controller bundles pair a unit with the correct harness. Products are tested to meet and often exceed published industry standards.

The Tekonsha Tow Harness, 7-Way, w/Circuit Protected ModuLite HD Module TK118288 (Part #TK118288) fits 2017-2025 Honda Ridgeline models. The 2025 model year is the last year covered by this part number. For newer models, check for an updated version.
The Tekonsha Tow Harness, 7-Way, w/Circuit Protected ModuLite HD Module TK118288 (Part #TK118288) Refer to the included instructions for installation details. Basic hand tools are typically all you need.
Yes, the T-One® T-Connector (part 118288-037) is designed for Honda Ridgeline. It connects to the grey 12-pin tow plug connector located towards the center on the back wall of the cab, accessed by opening the driver's side rear door.
The T-One® T-Connector is a towing harness adapter that connects your Honda Ridgeline's factory tow plug to a 7-way trailer socket, allowing you to connect a trailer. It includes a black box-module that plugs into the vehicle's 12-pin tow connector and routes power to the 7-way socket for trailer lights and brakes.
Two tools are required: a trim panel remover and a test-probe. The trim panel remover is needed to access the rear seat trim panel, and the test-probe is used to verify the installation after completion.
The kit includes 7.5 Amp fuses and 20 Amp fuses. Install the 7.5 Amp fuses in the fuse panel under the hood (driver's side) at: Position 6 (+B TRL HAZARD) and Position 7 (+B TRL BACKUP). Install the 20 Amp fuses at: Position 3 (TRL E-Brake), Position 9 (TRAILER SMALL), and Position 11 (TRL CHARGE). Do not use fuses with higher amperage, as this can damage the vehicle and trailer.
The kit includes: a black box-module that plugs into the vehicle's 12-pin tow connector, a towing harness, a 7-way socket, cable ties, double-sided tape, 7.5 Amp fuses, and 20 Amp fuses. The 7-way socket bracket or electrical box is not included and must be sourced separately.
Yes. You must remove the rear seat trim panel to access the grey 12-pin tow plug connector, which is located near the green relays on the driver's side of the cab.
The grey 12-pin tow plug connector is located towards the center on the back wall of the cab, near the green relays on the driver's side. It is accessed by opening the driver's side rear door and removing the rear seat trim panel.
The fuse panel is located under the hood on the driver's side. Open the fuse cover to access the fuse positions where the T-Connector fuses must be installed.
The large grey housing is located under the vehicle bumper on the driver's side. It has a protective cap with locking tabs that must be carefully removed before plugging in the towing harness.
Insert the black box-module into the grey 12-pin tow plug connector located in the cab (accessed after removing the rear seat trim panel). Be careful not to damage the locking tabs and ensure the connectors are fully inserted with locking tabs in place. Then secure the module on a flat, out-of-the-way surface using the provided cable ties or double-sided tape to prevent damage or rattling.
Locate the large grey housing under the vehicle bumper on the driver's side. Remove the protective cap carefully without breaking the locking tabs. Ensure the mating surfaces are free of dirt. Plug the towing harness into the grey tow plug, being careful not to damage the locking tabs and ensuring the connectors are fully inserted with locking tabs in place.
Route the T-Connector harness rearward to the back of the fascia of the bumper. Route the 7-way socket to the center of the vehicle and mount it in an accessible location with a bracket or electrical box (not included). Secure the remainder of the harness with the provided cable ties, being careful to avoid hot pipes, heat shields, the fuel tank, and any areas that could cut or pinch the wire.
The 7-way socket should be mounted in an accessible location at the center of the vehicle. Use a bracket or electrical box (not included with the kit) to secure it. This allows easy connection and disconnection of trailers.
Always wear safety glasses during installation. Read and follow all warnings and instructions before beginning. Do not damage locking tabs on connectors. Route wiring carefully to avoid hot pipes, heat shields, fuel tank, and pinch points. Secure all wiring with cable ties to prevent damage or rattling. Do not exceed the fuse amperage ratings, as this can cause fires and damage to the vehicle and trailer.
Route the harness carefully to avoid: hot pipes, heat shields, the fuel tank, and any other points that may pinch or break the wire. Secure the harness with the provided cable ties and avoid areas that would cut or pinch the wire. These precautions prevent damage to the harness and potential fire hazards.
Do not exceed the fuse amperage ratings specified in the installation instructions. Use 7.5 Amp fuses for positions 6 and 7, and 20 Amp fuses for positions 3, 9, and 11. Using fuses with higher amperage can result in damage to the vehicle and trailer, and can cause fires. Additionally, do not exceed the lower of your vehicle manufacturer's towing rating or the product's amperage ratings.
After installation is complete, reset the vehicle's electrical system by temporarily removing the key from the ignition. Then test and verify the installation using a test light or by connecting an actual trailer. All connections must be complete for the T-One® T-Connector to function properly. Use the test-probe tool to verify proper electrical connections.
Verify that all connections are complete and secure. Test the installation with a test light or by connecting a trailer to ensure all lights and brake functions work properly. Reset the vehicle's electrical system by removing the ignition key before the initial test. Ensure all wiring is properly secured with cable ties and routed away from hot surfaces and pinch points.
Yes, the T-One® T-Connector (118288-037) is designed specifically for Honda Ridgeline. It connects to the factory 12-pin tow plug in the cab.
You need a trim panel remover and a test-probe. The trim panel remover accesses the rear seat area, and the test-probe verifies the installation.
Install 7.5 Amp fuses at positions 6 and 7, and 20 Amp fuses at positions 3, 9, and 11 in the fuse panel under the hood. Do not use higher amperage fuses, as this can damage the vehicle and trailer.
