UWS crossover truck tool boxes are the tried-and-true way of keeping your tools organized, on-hand and fully secure no matter where you and your truck roam. Each UWS tool box is built from extra-thick aluminum welded into a single-piece tub. This provides the tool box with reliable strength and helps keep the interior sealed off from the elements. Aluminum construction also makes the box highly resistant to corrosion for long-lasting use. To add even more strength to the crossover truck tool box, the lid features our patented RigidCore foam-filled design. Layered between two sheets of aluminum, this core greatly increases the structural integrity of the lid to prevent bending and warping and to ensure smooth opening and closing. The lid is able to open to a full 90 degrees, providing better access to tools, equipment and other stored items. It also features self-opening struts to make it easy to open the box when your hands are full. This particular truck tool box features a low profile, meaning the lid is built lower than our standard lid. This provides a better view out the rear cab window and additional clearance for other items in the truck bed, if needed. To keep out moisture, dirt and even insects, the lid is also fitted with a MicroSeal gasket that seals off the inside of the tool box from the outside elements. UWS crossover truck tool boxes make it easy to keep your tools and other items organized, featuring built-in screwdriver holders and a three-compartment sliding tool tray. The tool box itself is easy to install and is available in multiple sizes to provide the perfect for your truck and lifestyle. Like all UWS products, each crossover truck tool box is proudly assembled right here in the USA for style and long-lasting dependability.

UWS designs and builds heavy-duty truck tool boxes and storage for tradespeople and truck owners. The line covers crossover and side-mount boxes, chest boxes, underbody boxes, transfer tanks and dog boxes. Every aluminum box is designed, fabricated and welded in Perry, Florida, with construction aimed at job-site abuse, road vibration and daily use.
UWS is a leading manufacturer and designer of truck tool boxes and truck accessories, and a Lippert brand. The company's focus is narrow and deliberate: storage that stands up to being opened and slammed shut dozens of times a day, loaded past what looks reasonable, and left outdoors in whatever weather the job brings. Its customers are electricians, plumbers, contractors, farmers, outdoorsmen and truck owners who treat a pickup as a working tool rather than transport.
The catalog covers the full range of bed storage. Crossover boxes sit across the bed behind the cab in single-lid, gull-wing, secure-lock and low-profile styles, so there is a fit whether the priority is capacity, rear visibility or working under a tonneau. Side-mount boxes mount along the bed rails and keep the bed floor free for cargo, while underbody boxes tuck beneath the frame rails of service bodies and flatbeds.
Beyond the bed, UWS makes portable chest boxes that move between vehicles and the shop, transfer tanks and combination tank-and-toolbox units for crews working away from fuel supply, and insulated, ventilated dog boxes for hunters and handlers.
Manufacturing sits at the centre of the brand's identity. Every UWS aluminum tool box is designed, fabricated and welded in Perry, Florida, by tradespeople with decades of experience, and the company's Rooted in Trades initiative is built around that connection to skilled manual work. Boxes use heavy-gauge aluminum, continuous welds at the seams, weather stripping to seal against rain and dust, and locking systems intended to resist tampering. The practical result is storage that keeps tools dry, organized and where they were left.

The UWS Gloss Black Aluminum 69" Truck Tool Box with Low Profile TBS-69-LP-BLK (Part #BHSGTBS-69-LP-BLK) fits both short bed and long bed configurations. Check the fitment chart for your specific Chevrolet Silverado 1500 configuration.
The UWS Gloss Black Aluminum 69" Truck Tool Box with Low Profile TBS-69-LP-BLK (Part #BHSGTBS-69-LP-BLK) Refer to the included instructions for installation details. Basic hand tools are typically all you need.
The package includes one crossover truck tool box, one key, one divider tray (not included with all models), two rail pads, two 3-inch J-hooks, two 1/4" washers, and two 1/4" nuts. Note that the divider tray may not be included depending on your specific model.
You will need a ratchet, socket set, and tape measure. These are the only tools required for installation.
No. The installation is rated as Easy difficulty level and can be completed with basic hand tools.
The tool box is designed for truck beds with rails. The manual does not specify which vehicle models, bed lengths, or cab styles are compatible. Contact the manufacturer at 877.287.8634 or consult your dealer to confirm fitment for your specific truck.
You must verify clearance during installation. In Step 1, open the tool box lid and ensure there is clearance between the open lid, top, and back of the cab. If clearance is insufficient, the tool box may not be suitable for your truck configuration.
The two 3-inch J-hooks are used to secure the tool box to the truck bed rails. Each J-hook is placed under the lip of a bed rail with the threaded end inserted up through the slot, then secured with a washer and 1/4" nut on each side of the vehicle.
The two rail pads are adhesive-backed pads that attach to the underside of the tool box ends. They are adhered to the tool box first, then the tool box with the pads is placed on top of the truck bed rails to provide cushioning and protection.
The manual does not explicitly state whether drilling is required. However, it includes a warning to check under your truck before drilling to ensure you do not puncture brake lines, fuel lines, electrical wires, or fuel tanks. If drilling is necessary, treat or seal all fasteners and exposed metal in any holes drilled to prevent corrosion.
Before drilling, check under your vehicle to ensure the drill location does not puncture, cut, or obstruct any brake or fuel fluid lines, electrical wires, fuel tanks, or other components. Take precaution that all fasteners near the fuel tank do not create the possibility of fuel tank puncture or other damage during a collision.
Place the tool box in the truck bed with the rail pads adhered to its underside ends, resting on top of the truck bed rails. Use a tape measure to ensure the tool box is centered in the truck bed. Open the lid and verify there is clearance between the open lid, top, and back of the cab before proceeding.
Use only one J-hook assembly on each side of the vehicle, for a total of two J-hooks. Each J-hook is placed under the lip of a bed rail with the threaded end inserted up through the slot.
First, snug the hardware (washer and nut) on both sides but do not fully tighten. Re-measure to ensure the tool box is centered and allows lid clearance when open. Once positioning is confirmed, fully tighten all hardware.
The torque specification for 1/4" bolts is 3 ft-lbs. This applies to the J-hook fasteners (1/4" washer and nut). Note that these are general guidelines; if you purchase replacement hardware, use the torque specifications provided with that hardware.
Do not use this product for storing or transporting flammables, explosives, hazardous materials, or hazardous waste, including containers of gasoline, solvents, gun powder, dynamite, propane tanks, acetylene tanks, and cutting torches. Doing so creates a danger of explosion.
Never exceed the vehicle manufacturer's recommended capacity. The manual does not specify the tool box's own weight capacity; refer to your vehicle's documentation for load limits.
Yes. The product can reduce the driver's ability to clearly see roadways, vehicular or pedestrian traffic, and other objects through the rear and side windows of the vehicle, which may cause an accident. Extra precaution should be taken when driving a vehicle with this product installed.
Ensure all knobs, bolts, screws, straps, and locks are firmly secured. Verify the tool box is centered in the truck bed and that the lid has clearance when open. Periodically re-tighten and inspect all components for signs of wear, corrosion, and fatigue.
For polished, gloss, and other smooth finishes, polish may be used to clear small scratches and scuffs. Mild automotive detergent may be used to clean the product. Do not use dish detergent, abrasive cleaners, abrasive pads, wire brushes, or other similar products that may damage the finish.
Periodic inspections should be performed to ensure all mounting hardware remains tight. Ensure all knobs, bolts, screws, straps, and locks are firmly secured before every trip. Periodically re-tighten and inspect all components for signs of wear, corrosion, and fatigue.
Periodically lubricate the strikers and locks to ensure optimum performance. If the strikers are ever out of alignment, simply loosen, adjust, and re-tighten them.
The tool box fits truck beds with rails. Verify lid clearance with the cab when open. Contact the manufacturer at 877.287.8634 to confirm fitment for your specific vehicle.
